i used watch felix at 6:30am on wpix, the new york city area, even though there were later variations of the character it just doesn't compare to the 60's cartoons. as for the ones cbs aired, it was different. i think the company that made that one was shooting for early black and white look but with color.
The significance of Felix the Cat for American television can't be ignored. For transmitter and camera tests in NYC during the 1930's & 1940's, ceramic Felix figurines were broadcast. His was among the first faces ever seen on TV.
This series of Felix cartoons had a simplicity that was obviously aimed toward kids in its day, and a sweetness that still carries over today to those same kids as 50+ adults today. Also adored the Twisted Tales. Felix should be right up there with Mickey Mouse; for a number of years he was equally or more famous. Love ya, Felix!
Winston Sharples' Paramount cartoon music cues of the '50s [he owned them in partnership with Hal Seeger, who packaged them] were used a LOT in these "Felix" episodes- and he also composed the theme song!
I remember this cartoon a long time ago. It was originally taken from an old VHS tape from Media Home Entertainment features a compilation of Trans-Lux Felix the Cat cartoons from the early 60's.

>XD AHH Yes,he did,I think he said the N-word.lol
MuscleBomber2021 3 years ago
The word was used by alot of people on television all the way through the 70s. So it's not shocking to hear it on a 1950's kids cartoon.
