  • @AnneLeRachel20 yea thats what he says waylon and willie and the boys

  • @AnneLeRachel20 He does indeed..................

  • Hell yeah , when is someone going to have the balls to come out with some real country again!

  • I played this song for many years in Honky Tonk Bars. Think I'll upload my version of this song to YouTube, although, no one can beat Waylon, still, it'll be fun playing the song again. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • @55Dudester I don't know... maybe you should think about using this video to plug yourself??????

  • @streetender1878 Thanks, although I'm not really into plugging myself on YouTube....I just upload my recordings for the fun of it.....however, I think I'll try uploading my rendition just for the heck of it. Thanks for the tip.

  • Damon, if you're out there....you crazy cat. You introduced us to this song and yes, we're still together. Man, if you see this message, Happy New Year! Key West was a beautiful thing. Hope you're doing well.

  • This is TRUE country music, not like that shit out there nowadays.

  • Waylon was and still is the man...I remember hearing this song over and over and over again on the jukebox in a bar when I was a little kid...My mom worked there for years as a waitress and barmaid/manager...That is how I got hooked on country, even though my main ingredient to music is Hard Rock..Led Zeppelin, Sound Garden, STP, the list is endless...I still love this song....It is country all the way, and not like this "new country" these days.... Miss you WAYLON!!!!!

  • He's the best.

    Miss him..

  • wat I wanna know is, who's blonde babe he's singing with on the right. Pretty!

  • Its about time we get back to the basics of love

  • One of the best!

  • "The only 4 things in life that make it worth living are

    1) guitars that tune good and

    2) firm-feeling women".

Not sure what two other things he had in mind, but I'm guessing they weren't math and grammar.

But hell, Waylon is a god so he can say whatever the hell he wants

  • @jebediahbrownmit He's just clownin around. The actual song lyrics are 'Only 2 things'.

I think he might of started drinkin before the show started :-)

  • @jebediahbrownmit ....There were 3 women....LOL!!

  • @jebediahbrownmit I think, what he meant was "2 guitars that tune good and 2 firm-feeling women" ;o)

  • @jebediahbrownmit it was a joke, cuz the lyric is actually the only 2 things in life. he also says with waley and willon... so he was prob drunk

  • woop woop hoss

  • RIP Waylon...thanks for leaving your music to us...you will never be duplicated

  • Hey Hairbanger24....Do not ever give up....if you give up, then you will never know if you had it in you....But, if you try again, and you do not make it, at least you can say you tried...you gave it your best....but, if you make it, you will look back on your past and say " damn " I freakin did it.. From, A struggling Musician..Hank

  • twins8596 Ha Ha to you, you Waylon hater.......I guess you have no clue to music....My question is....Why would you even tap on a Waylon site if you did not like him or was curious about his music....Your just a young PUNK or YOUNG LITTLE BITCH....either one, it's the same......Go listen to your band that makes you feel comfortable..At least I can spell ( just a little bit ) I got your laugh between my pants....it is called a peace-maker. No, not my penis or gun, you intelligent, you figure out

  • To twins8596 GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU WAYLON HATER. Come on down to Virginia little boy or girl, we show you a good time at the Parlor....All we listen to is Waylon, Johnny Cash, Willie, Twitty, and Hank among others....Can you spell??

  • Call me a crazy ass, but I could watch this Video on my T.V. 20 times in a row.....Or I could watch it drinking a couple beers and rewind that damn thing 40 times...

  • Apparently you know of his music.........hey, twin8596, I got your laugh, down here in Virginia...........Come on down, let's go fishin' together....I will show you laughable crap when I tangle that big ol' Bass and make you eat it raw...that's how all us country boy's do it....

  • I hear you Hairbanger24, I am with you, thanks for giving Waylon his " props " I hope you find your music again, I am a struggling musician, have been for 30 years.... Only people feel what you do as a musician....I hope you get my message...Rock and Country go on to the max!!!!!!!!!

  • so what evamichele18 he might have missed a lyric. Do you play in a band? Well, I have and still do, and write all the time.....It is called being a musician, sometimes you have to improvise.....IMPROVISE. Do you get it? Give the man a break, he was one of the best but underated at the time in country music.. You need to check out some of his music on CD lately. And funk you twins8596, get a life, go listen to your favorite band Nirvana, where you can not understand the words/Lyrics la da la sa

  • Oh!, I wish that I was 'into' this kind of music and songs, but at the time this was a going thing, I was ti envolved in makeing a living for me and my family.I feel I was screwed out of this era. what a pity

  • haha did anybody else notice at 1:38 he says Waylie and Willon instead of Waylon and Willie???

  • @evamichele18 Yea I saw that, then he look an the band and smiles about it. Still a great song by Waylon.

  • what a load of rubbish its laughable crap

  • I look at this video every other day or three...always heard the song as a kid on the jukebox.....This song just makes me think...think think... Waylon was one of a kind...I hope he knew it. I miss you Waylon.....Hank Love ( musician ) THE HANK LOVE PROJECT.

  • My favorite part of this is at 3:04

  • hell yes.

  • Im from Texas so this song is true and good to me :) !

  • Waylon is great, Today country is not country. The only "new" guy who is worth a shit is Jamey Johnson he is very tallented everyone look him up!!!!!!

  • So handsome Sir Waylon Jennings hmmm mmm m m :) <3

  • @bsteinagel I hate concerts where you have to sit down. I need to move around, get to groove a bit to the artist. Personal preference probably.

  • @bsteinagel i hate concerts where

  • Does anyone know where I can find a copy of this? DVD or CD.

  • i was brought up on this music and im 25 years of age

  • good ole iromhead haynes

  • The dude playing rhythm on acoustic with the green shirt, on the left of the screen ( Waylon's right, that guy is keeping not only Waylon on track, but is making sure the band is to. He is a leader in that song, he was making sure that all in the band was keeping the tempo and the overall concept......Been there, done that with my previous band...It is called respect and leadership...Hats off to him....Miss you Waylon...I still get goosebumps when you break into Luckenback, Texas, the singin part

  • @hanklove4ever Man, I thought /I was the only one.

  • my favorite song by Waylon...yeah, they might be sitting down...I'd be dancing when they hit that freakin Chorus

  • See how the audience is all SITTING and actually LISTENING to the music while still enjoying it at the same time? Why the heck can't they do that anymore? ...Main reason I don't go to most concerts anymore, except for James Taylor.

  • @bsteinagel I'm actually pretty sure concerts weren't usually like that. I believe it's only like this, because it's video taped.

  • uhhh?? why did he say 4 things instead 2??? drunk??

  • Where is Lee Deal, and John Henry Deal and Thelma? What about Dianne-Brenda-Sissy.....

  • Damn, my math is off!!!!!! Waylon, Mr. Cash, Mr. Jones, Mr.Twitty, Mr Nelson....Where is the MOOSE LODGE???????Buy Me a beer! Hank Love, peace out......

  • Oh, I was 7 years old? And it is the best

  • Brings back memories and tears..........heard this song when I was 10 years old........great country song.....Oxon Hill Md. 1972 and on and on and on....Love it!!!!

  • love this song

  • Real musicians don't have to jump around like monkeys flashing lights and laser beams. Their music is 110% entertaining.

  • Sorry I never go to see him live.

  • We lost the best of all best in one year.. Dale-Waylon-Johnny.. they wil never ever be replaced

  • @Buddyfun Who is Dale and yes we lost the best of country music in Johnny cash, June Carter-Cash, Waylon and a few of the other great who they will never give their dues.

  • Backstreet Boys??? talk about arrested development!

  • I feel privledged to live 30min from Luckenbach, just wish I couldve drank a beer with Waylon there!!

  • Hey FacingQuincy or ( Mr. or Ms. Obvious ) your comment seems real similar to the one posted 2 months before...funny...ha ha

  • It's Waylon Willie and the Boys! LOL

  • I love it!! just makes u want to kick off the boots and dance with the wife in the kitchen..this is AMERICA! Love it or LEAVE IT!

  • This was from a time when there was real country music! Not the pop they call country today!

  • @revanthonylidke

I SO AGREE. THE SHIT THEY SPEW OUT TODAY AS "county" IS POP WITH A TWANG. Yuck.

  • @revanthonylidke although waylon was was kind of a country/rock hybrid

  • @revanthonylidke There still is real country music. Just because they don't play it on commercial radio or CMT doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • @abark look out for shon hampton-country as raw as it gets

  • @revanthonylidke A lot of the new stuff is pretty sappy.

  • TRUE OUTLAW!!!

    R.I.P JOHNNY AND WAYLON!!!!

  • This is almost as good as the backstreet boys.

  • @717021 It's way better than the backstreet boys. You shouldn't even say "Waylon Jennings" and "Backstreet Boys" in the same sentence.

  • @BlackCowboy9

    don't feed the trolls. ;)

But i agree with your sentiment 110%.

  • @BlackCowboy9 he didnt

  • @statzbc I didn't say he did, what I meant by that was he can't compare the Backstreet Boys and Waylon and say the Backstreet Boys are better.

  • It's a shame. These guys (waylon, hank, kris, johnny...etc.) they LIVED the music they sang about. They went out and got drunk...then couldn't make their concerts due to a hangover or such....people got mad at them but respected them more because they're HUMAN. Now days, a singer does that, they crucify him/her. Back then it was about love of music...today it seems like it's about love of money.

  • This is pure country

  • Damn, someday i'll give respect to Ol' Hoss and perform this song somewhere. Even alone with my guitar if i have to.

  • country music just aint the same dano77

  • The 11 people who don't like this are deaf.

  • are the good times and good music really over for good?

  • @MrReb74 It ain't over. You just won't hear it on radio.

  • What a bad boy... ;-D

  • thank you for adding these great videos :) do you have Donna on my mind? thanks

  • I like that!!

  • A few months back I had a plumber come to repair a toilet at my house. He went to the bathroom and said Waylon jennings used to clog this toilet up. No joke he lived in the house I reside in right now. The plumber shared some stories about Waylon and said he was great to hang out with.

  • CHEEEE WHOOOO!!!

  • To add to the highest-rated comment here: Waylon PISSED country. This crap today is a pathetic embarrassment. Waylon was the REAL deal. Nothing fake, nothing phony. He just sang and played from his big heart.

  • Truely one of the greatest ever. I like to think that music is a continium. It is hard to imagine but the Eagles had had a lot of what we think is Country music today in their sounds. Before them was the folk music that I love. It cannot be unconnected. Now where that Rap crap came from is beyond me.

  • now this... is true country.... I really cant listen to the new stuff... nothing even compares to the true outlaws of country

  • Amen and well said paulbsmokin & cork507. I totally agree. We need some more great country stars like them for sure.

  • When country meant country, not a bunch of models pretending to sing country....!

  • Damn that Nashville, it wants to change country singers to be like Keith Urban and he's not even country. He's more like pop-country. And if you know what i think, you know that pop-country can suck my ass.. Waylon was a wise man, he knew that someday country would change. These country-musicans these days are not country. They don't know what kinda life Waylon lived in his youth.

  • god bless this song can't life without it

  • Second time he sang the chorus, he sang "Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas, with Waylie and Willon and the boys"

  • I meet Waylon in 1973 when he was playing the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. He was married to Jessie by then and he was one hellva nice man. Much different from the Waylon I had met in Washington DC a few before that!! Sure to miss his real country singing.

  • Fuck Yeah!!! This is real country, not that new bullshit. One of Texas' finest.

  • i grew up listening to Waylon, there has and never will be another singer like him, i like how he more or less to Nashville to kiss his ass, and went on to start the outlaw movement on country music

  • This was his least favorite song. LOL

  • Ten people are from Portland, OR

  • @MrTravton Watch it, buddy. Oregon's just about country as the West Coast gets. Ever been to Sweet Home? There's a big contry concert there every July and August.

  • @ChristianEntertain You watch it, buddy. I said Portland, not the entire state of Oregon.

  • R.I.P Mr. Jennings .We will never forget you .

  • @ paulbsmokin, ever heard of Alan Jackson ? :)

  • @azand091 yeah i know him and i like his music to

  • listen to john hutchinson - google john hutchinson angels - outlaw country lives on!

  • He said Willin and Waylie in one verse. Loved Waylons on stage antics.

  • Waylon knew it all

in his song Clyde he says a line

This old dog can sing the blues

    Dog

a term the gang bangers use today as a street slur

    Waylon was King

today all we have are cyborg posers

  • I heard this song when I was about 10 years old living in Sweden, I loved it then and I love it even more now, 30 years later. The best song ever!

  • OUTLAW Country at it's best!!! Along with Willie, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Allen Coe & of course the man himself Waylon

  • @aplaf1 Check out David Duke videos on youtube to know what happened.

  • @Sobanski87 David Duke? lol, you're kidding I hope.

  • @southrules I wish I were check out "Dr David Duke - How Nations Die!" on youtube 5.30 into the vid mentions MTV, that video was not edited by David, I suggest checking out his channel on youtube then making a decision on his views. I live in England, have friends from many different religious and racial backgrounds, I love the work of Jews such as Norman Finkelstein who show an objective approach to zionism and so forth. I am not full of hate towards any group of people. I only strive for peace

  • Comment removed

  • paulbsmokin- so right you are. never another like waylon. used to listen to him once a week with carl p. mayfield on wkdf in nashville. was an honest regretful man. God bless Waylon

  • HE was the BEST!

  • one of the greats.

  • Well cork, Willie and Hank are still singing, and there are some of them good ole boys left. Toby is one of 'em, if you'll notice he broke off from his label and created his own. He plays his music, the way he wants to play it, he says whatever he wants to say, and wears whatever he wants to wear. You might oughta look at Jason Aldean, Zac Brown, Randy Houser, and Eric Church as well. Not all of 'em are Nashville sale outs. Keep your chin up.

  • 3:22 video: "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" sung by Waylon Jennings (June 15, 1937; Littlefield, Texas – February 13, 2002), released in April 1977, at the height of outlaw country on the hit album Ol' Waylon. [Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas; With Waylon and Willie and the boys.]

  • ah, i wish i were with waylon, willie, kris, man how good can it get!!

  • You know why Ol' Hoss gave that guitar to Reggie? It was on Willie Nelson's 60th birthday. After a concert called.. I think it was The Big Six-O, Waylon called Reggie to come to his Nashville home and when he arrived, Waylon said to Reggie "I have a guitar to give you", and Waylon went to another room and came back with that guitar, and Reggie was like "'Wow! Waylon do you know what this is?" and Waylon said it's too heavy for him and he wanted to give it to someone who can play it. End of story

  • booze cruzing tune

  • whos the chick

  • slasheri you've got quite the collection!!!! been listenin to it for about 2 hours now, thanks for all the memories...God Bless

  • This is history but somethimes history is mmmm

  • I love Waylon Jennings...he's easily one of the best Country Performers ever

  • The only 4 things... This is pure poetry!

  • The signs leading to the town of Lukenbach, Texas are often stolen as souvenirs by tourists because of this iconic song!

  • love this song!!! takes me back 20 years .Hanging out with my brothers.
