  • and its goodfellas not good fellas

  • Watch my 100 greatest movie list and tell me what you think!

  • where was metropolis (1927)

  • the title should change to "100 popular american movies"

  • @aproksenos blade runner was pretty good

  • @aproksenos yh i agree dude

  • He, wheres back To future 1,2,3??? or Fight Club???

  • It is funny how you Americans no nothing about film and yet you make list of top films of all time. I can name 7 Kurosawa films and each single one of them is better than this entire list. And also some from Eisenstein, Pudovkin, Dovzhenko, Ozu, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Parajanov, De Sica, Visconti, Fellini, Bunuel, Kieslowski, Renoir,Trufaut, Godard, Bresson, Micoguchi, Vigo, Murnau.

  • @zigifrojd

We can name drop high brow pretentious garbage the same as you. We just didn't waste 80 grand on film school to sit around coffee shops and talk about movies.

  • Comment removed

  • Respect from Germany. Very good Compilation! I'm just 24 years old, but i love 75% of these movies.

  • Not that these aren't all good films, but this list is almost an exact duplicate of the AFI's list with every film about 1 or 2 positions away from their AFI positioning...

  • Should be renamed Top 100 AMERICAN movies of all time. Cinema is much more than Hollywood so this list isn't really all that good.

  • Wish the quality of the vids where a little better, but over all some real good pics there!!!

  • A lot of forgotten crap movies there, but some of them good, granted.

  • @xtratrash

I think I agree with you. YOU OTHER GUYS IF YOU DONT LIKE IT SO SHUT UP AND DONT SAY ANYTHING. HAVE YOU EVER THINK OF THAT TE PERSON YOU WRITE TO WANT TO HEAR SOME POSITIVE COMMENTS. Think of that next time you write!!!

  • @zigifrojd are u fucking serious?? battleship potemkin?? amacord??? amdery rublev??? how would those be greatest films of all times?? ive never even heard of them & im a huge film buff, if anything casablanca, gone with the wind, the godfather or citizen kane would be up there u idiot, u obviously no nothing bout film, & YEA the wizard of oz & singing in the rain. .... singing in the rain is the #1 musical of all time on the american film institute's list & the wizard of oz is HUGELY popular, DUH

  • @Powerhousezz I suggest you watch battleship potemkin before you call yourself a film buff. The Russian film movement of the 20's is the most interesting period in film history. If you do not like this video, I also suggest you make your own list so that idiots like yourself can critique the shit out of it. This is not a list of most popular films ever made, this is merely an opinion of films they liked, popular or not. I think you should watch some more films before making a statement like that

  • Comment removed

  • @Powerhousezz I've heard of all three. You're obvously not much of a film buff if you haven't heard of them. Have you seen anything from Frederico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa or Ingmar Bergman?

  • @Powerhousezz Who cares about how popular a film is? I'm 16 and I've seen Potemkin and Amarcord and La Strada. Also, Singin in the Rain is not the best musical of all time....Cabaret is.

  • @SteezeWizard99 youre 16 and you like musicals? i HOPE youre a girl.

  • @olliewinstanley Oh you so funny. And to answer your "question" I'm not 16 and love musicals; I'm 16 and I love film....also I never said I liked musicals. I said I like Cabaret and if you've seen Cabaret you know how dark its themes are and how good of a FILM it is.

  • usual suspect :'(

  • Mr. Smith GOes to Washington FTW!! Such a good movie to show about govermental corruption and the Senate

  • It would be nice, to start of as a 170Ib weakling, with a million dollars in the bank and sit down and watch through 100 best films. With a load of fucking cheeseburgers and some bitch to satisfy ones appetites. God, I`d love that. `Course life ( at leat mine ) is not like that. I`m already 230Ib, and I have to go grafting tomorrow. Love the clip anyhow. Thanks for posting.

  • I could argue for OR againts 99 of the 100, but Blade Runner, not even in the top 500.

  • @mpeindms You suck.

  • @filmfreakmiah gee, could you back YOUR STATEMENT up with something more articulate, or is that merely a stupid comment on your part?

  • @mpeindms You deserve not.

  • There are some gems on here

  • seen them all .

  • One of the best list on youtube, good work.

  • I see someone likes Bogart......hellyeah! I enjoy seeing the different lists of peoples favorites. Thanks for sharing.

  • nice vid dude! ive heard of afew of them but i will check the rest out! thanks for sharing!

  • shitty list

  • And my favorite movie is Casa Blanca....But the guy next door to me? it might be weekend at Bernies.... Who cares? it's all subjective. case in point? The whole reason forums like Youtube exist in the first place to share OPINIONS! I enjoy all the lists here because just maybe i missed a movie for my collection of great entertainment .Life is short and some of the movies you like, most likly have tried to convey that message, listen... and enjoy.

  • The Goodfather is Booooooring!

  • @rovdjurx12 Then you didn't pay attention, pay attention from the beginning to the end. The beginning gives you the whole story. The rest is the action that, then well if you saw it to the end. You know what had to happen. It's not my on my all time favorites, but it's in my collection. And I will watch it once a year. It's that good.

  • Can someone please explain why the Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction are that "great"? I personally think they're the most overrated movies of all time, but well... It'd be nice if someone could explain it for me with some decent arguments. Try to make me change my mind.

  • @LightStijn Pulp Fiction is a throwback to the old pulp comics. The stronger points of the film are the dialogue, plot, and characters. Instead of it being cliche plot lines, people talk about everyday things like hamburgers, pancakes, foot massages, coffee, etc. The plot is different because it is split in three parts instead of one continuous movie. It has many different scenes and characters to follow, and made way for modern dramas with more characters and dialogue. It reinvented drama.

  • too many shitty old films. this would be my great grandmother's top 100 list.

  • in overall....good selection

  • to much spoiler

  • to much spoiler

  • gladiator is a very good film

  • 1:09 ROFL... HAAHHA

  • no scarface?

  • Titanic? Shawhank? Saving Private Ryan? Forrest Gump? You sure do fall for brainless tear jerkers. Braveheart also sucked.

  • @TheArmy19D You obviously no nothing about film, all those films you just named are classics and it's very difficult to make these list and a fucking loser like you probably couldn't make one.

  • @fanilyguy I do have a Bachelor's Degree in Cinema so I know a little about film. The movies I named were mainstream crowd pleasers with not much originality or thought provoking content. They pander to the lowest common denominator and are dumbed down for the masses. Can you really tell me you thought Titanic was a good movie? What was good about it?

  • @TheArmy19D uhh check out the 13 oscars and the standards it set as far as special effects, and you really think Shawshank, Forrest Gump and SPR aren't thought provoking and are main stream, your nuts.

  • @fanilyguy I knew you would say something about special effects. Yes, those movies are mainstream garbage. You might as well thow Avatar in there while you are at it because you sound like they type of person who would love that movie too.

  • @TheArmy19D You know me and you are really alike, I don't like the people who go see Transformers and says that because it had a lot of explosions it was a great movie. Do I like watching Titanic, no I don't, I actually hate that movie, but to say that a film, that made that much money, won that many awards and is credited as one of the 100 greatest films by respected organizations like AFI and IMDb isn't a classic and a great film is crazy.

  • @fanilyguy I do not think a film can be judged by the amount of Oscars it receives or the amount of money it makes. Titanic was a mainstream chick flick with some terrible acting, a clichéd plot, and a cartoon villain.

  • @TheArmy19D Oh I'm sorry didn't know you knew more about film then the entire acadamy of film experts that vote on the awards.

  • @fanilyguy Are you being serious? What does it take to be an expert in film?

  • @TheArmy19D more then a bachelors degree

  • @fanilyguy Oh, a masters degree in film? Man you are funny. You do not need any degree to be in the Academy.

  • @TheArmy19D Hey your the one dumping on the great movies, if your so smart what are the best films ever?

  • @fanilyguy "the great movies". Stop being a film snob

  • @TheArmy19D What, Forrest Gump is a great movie, so is Shawshank so is the green mile, their great movies, and youv'e yet to answer my question, what do you think are the "great films"

  • @fanilyguy Ha! You love the corny shit don't you. Mainstream safe Hollywood garbage. Life is like a box of............

  • Comment removed

  • @TheArmy19D Whatever, You STILL haven't answered my question if your just this amazing film critic, why don't you tell me what you think are the 5 best films. Mine

    1.Gone with the Wind

    2.Shawshank Redemption

    3.M

    4.Citizen Kane

    5.2001: A space odyssey

But you probably have a shitty answer to all those that don't you

  • 2001 a space Odyssey? the Professional? Casino? Full Metal jacket? Kill Bill? Enter the dragon? Driving Mrs Disey? Terminator 2 ? Predator? the exorcist? The good, the bad n the Ugly? casa Blanca? Wall ST? born in the 4th of July? Fight Club? Rear Window? Lolita? a good German? The piano? American Beauty ? i can keep going..you really missed lots of good movies...

  • i know u think ur all cool because u watch old movies but u did not include any movies from even the 80's or anything earlier and i'm guessing ur a girl because there was no action movies and if u want to see a good movie watch the 1979 cult classic the warriors best movie ever made and before u write back to me watch the movie because u can't say anything to me before u watch that movie

  • well, that was a fantastic film, but is sexism really neccesary?

  • half ass job "wonderfull life" cookoos nest half ass put the full title next time and dont be lazy

  • no Matrix? Obviously you can't understand different points of view on the film itself old timer.

  • the matrix wasnt on the same level of these films and old timer... u knw u cnt jst not acknowledge great films jst because they were made a couple of yrs before u were born

  • tht scene from blade runner love tht imo tht shud rate much higher but at least its on the list

  • There should be a SPOILER ALERT. The ends---or certain crucial points---are given for about 10 to 15 of the films!

  • i don't really like it because there are more beautiful films not included

  • contains too many spoilers i think

  • Great work!!!

  • Very nice to see Gone with the Wind up there along with many others, a little saddened to not see American Graffiti up there though. Ah well, very good and well put together list. I take my hat off.

  • love your list!! Schindler's list and forrest and the lord of the rings are my all-time favorites, but the rest comes right after that!

  • Ironman, From Russia with Love, Casino Royale, To Kill a Mockingbird, I Am Legend, Midway, Pearl Harbor, The Longest Day, Green Mile, 300, Mary Poppins, and I think the most underrated of all...Equilibrium could also be added to the list but this is a pretty good list

  • to kill a mockingbird and the longest mile should be on it but nt the others

  • All are American films.

  • Here are some suggestions:

    west side story

    rainman

    catch me if you can

    green mile

    ferris bueler's day off

the original the day the earth stood still

    alien

the empire strikes back and kane should have been lower and titanic and forest higher

  • Very nice list. I'm glad that you included Spartacus on it, an underrated Kubrick film that doesn't make most folks list. Its in my top ten. That film has layers and layers of allegory and allusion. A true work of Art with a one of the finest casts ever. Kubrick brought out the best in Douglas. (Check out Paths of Glory.)

    I would add LA Confidential.

  • @rlove123

it is in the list ...updated version

  • Nice list

  • Hey, not so fast next time, I got to download all these you know..., LOL

  • I see them too, half of North America is possessed with demons..., what would Christ do if he came back..., what a joke.

  • Top 100 movies of all time in your opinion of Western movies =p

  • 4:27 jaja!

  • great list but you missed The Exorcist, the scariest movie ever

  • haha i laughed at the exorcist

i think It is the scariest

  • exorcist sucked balls!!!

  • i agree. i was saying i think "It" the movie is the scariest. and i laughed in the face of the horrible production called the exorcist

  • I like your list. I have most of those movies. These movies are the best because they became a part of history. Its unfortunate that most of todays so called video game generation, cant appreciate these films.

  • you've got a good list there but its practically impossible to make a flawless top 100 movies list

a flawless movie list would be a top 1000 movies list

  • so did you just copy and paste AFI's list?

  • Boo for spoiling Deer Hunter!!!

  • i think west side story should have been on there other then that a great list

  • I have nothing to be angry about you have touched on almost every movie I would have choosen except rear window, kill bill, 2001 space odyssey, ghost busters, the ten commandments and space balls.

  • The Neverending story, part 1. try watching it today without almost breaking into tears ;)

  • great list but Godfather to for me:-)

  • hurray for: ben hur; blade runner; pulp fiction;

    unforgiven; Shawshank redemption; Saving Private Ryan; Platoon; Network; Raiders of the lost ark; The Departed; Butch Casssidy and the sundance kid; Clockwork Orange; Taxi Driver; Double Indemnity; Apocalypse Now;

    Starwars; Schindler's List; Casablanca

  • That's very hard to make the list of only 100 movies. Where are "The Shining", "The Rear Window", "The Thing", "Rocky", "The Exorcist", American History X", "Fight Club" and many others? Anyway, good list

  • rocky was on it

  • Finally! Gone With The Wind!!!

  • awesome. but, casablanca for me no#.1.

  • you know what? If you have no appreciation, then don't comment, or even watch. These happen to be the best movies of all time, so please.....hate somewhere else.

  • No movies stranger ? lol, you suck guy. !

  • "All REAL Americans . . . love the sting of battle."

    oooohhhhh, that sounds dirty. lol.

  • very good but missing some the matrix and the excorsist

  • Whoa where is scarface where is Full metal jacket where isTerminator where is Alien where is 300 where is Shaun of the dead where is dawn of the dead..... i think this was a bad list u should have made it top 100 classics and Braveheart and Starwars should have been way higher

  • Scarface? Yes. FMJ? Yes. Terminator? No, the second one is far superior. If anything Judgement Day should be on this list. Alien? No. It's a very good movie, but I don't think it deserves to be in the top 100. 300? Are you kidding? Shaun of the Dead? Probably one of the best spin-off/parodies ever made, but it still doesn't deserve top 100.

  • haha, oh man, i love all those movies, and thank god you have Tootsie in there---one of the funniest movies of all time if you guys haven't seen it already---to this day, i get tears in my eyes from laughing so hard

  • i must of mis counted i only counted 96

  • Haha, it looked like Vertigo was shocked that Tootsie was a dude.

  • pretty good list except for two obvious choices,

fight club and the shawshank redemption

    Good choice for #1 though

  • missing:

    the galdiator

    troja

    james bond!

  • Thank's for sharing Jimmy Stewart's films: Vertigo, The Philedelphia Story, It's a Wonderful Life, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. These are my favorites. There were alot of other's that were awesome also.

  • Missing The Ten Commandments too.

  • yay! Lord of the Rings made it!

  • I think Terminator and Independence Day should have been put in there

  • What about bridge on the river kwai

  • Funny how funny hehe or funny haha

  • sry about that i missed it totally

    great video lol

  • Believe it or not, there are a lot of geat films. ore that 100........ more than 1000.....? I don't know. It's just that nobody can fit all great films into 100 and to satisfy all movie buffs.....

  • Great List, my top 10 are: 1. Dr Strangelove 2. Lawrence of Arabia 3. 2001: A Space Odyssey 4. Citizen Kane 5. The Godfather 6. A Clockwork Orange 7. Barton Fink 8. Night of the Hunter 9. Sunset Blvd. 10. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
  • I don't mean to interrupt this whole petty argument here, in fact I find reading these comments to be hilarious!!! And I won't want to start another debate with ajf0730 but I would like to support your top ten choice here mate. I've seen 8 out of your list and thought the majority were great. Citizen Kane and A Clockwork Orange however, though hugely powerful and influential, are too much like an enigma to watch & enjoy. Dr. Strangelove is a quality film though.

  • thank you very much

  • Harry, did you honestly enjoy Night of The Hunter MORE than The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly? That's disapointing.

  • Come on, night of the hunter is great, something bout Robert Mitchum...

I mean if you see my list of top 100 then you'll see that it's pretty high, even if night of the hunter beat it

  • But Night of The Hunter is like a hour 1/2 long b/w film noir. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly is a long epic classic western masterpiece of cinema. How could you prefer Night of the Hunter over that?

  • It just ddoesn't seem like a movie that'd beat The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. If you argued over more bigger films like 2001 or Strangelove. Then we'd have a better debate

  • night of the hunter is a masterpiece, i really don't know what to say, i just love it

  • Comment removed

  • Best list I've seen. Awesome.

  • Good list, but have you never seen any foreign language films? Aguirre, Ran, The conformist etc.

  • 12 Angry Men?

  • Good list most of them are great classics.

  • wow quinner I didn't realise If I insulted your gay lover, that you would take a shot at me. the majority of those movies can be used as a vacuum, thats how hard they suck. They didn't stand the test of time, they might have been great back in the 20's and 30's but they suck ass through a shit streaked dick hair today.

  • That's the kind of narrow-minded attitude that is ruining movies today. The modern audience cares more about special effects and big budgets than they do about quality acting & great scripts. The art of film is rarely seen today because of people like you who just don't appreciate it & who are not willing to pay to see it. Fuck you & the guy you rode in on!!!

  • First I would like to say congratulations. It only took you a couple of months to reply to this, you braindead fuckhead. Second of all you got me all wrong. I don't care much for the movies of today. Their all remakes with CGI shit. they fucking suck. I like movies that used imagination and honest to god effort. These movies on this vid are just too damn old and uninteresting. Nobody except for you and a few others appreciate these cinematic sleeping pills. and by the way, great insult, asshole.

  • Hey look... you were the one who started callin me gay first of all just because I didn't agree with you so I just stooped to your level. Anyway, at least we have the same outlook on a lot of movies today!!! But I still feel you should show some appreciation for the films and actors that paved the way for others to follow. Foundations have to be laid first, am I right???

  • Well you do have a point there, I guess. My whole thing about this list was the lack of variety. It seems like they were all old timey classics. All I'm saying is that these movies may be memorable to some, are they the greatest?

  • Maybe not all of them would be the greatest but the reason why they are there is because of their influence. I think we've finally come to a compromise. I'll give you my top ten anyway: 1) The Godfather 2) The Empire Strikes Back 3) Shawshank Redemption 4) Pulp Fiction 5) Road To Perdition 6) Casablanca 7) Raging Bull 8) Goodfellas 9) Chinatown 10) Some Like It Hot
  • Pretty good list. I never seen Chinatown or Some LIke It Hot. Pulp fiction would probably be on the top for mine. I guess my list would be

    1)Pulp Fiction

    2)Ghostbusters

    3)Back to The Future

    4)Kill Bill Vol 1

    5)Grindhouse Planet Terror

    6)Face/Off

  • Absolutely agree with you!!

  • wow closed minded much? a classic is a classic, no matter how old. And as for him being the only one liking them, I'm an 18 year old male and I've seen a good majority of those films

  • What the hell is wrong with you?? The reason a film is called a classic is because it has stood the test of time and is still appreciated today!!! I've seen most of them and the majority are great!!! Maybe you should actually watch those movies before being so critical of them!! Great list!!!!!

  • absolutely. I'm not trying to say all old movies suck, but those are films are as old and shitty as jesus's toilet. very few of the movies this guy has are worth watching. Thanks for agreeing with me, dude.

  • you are fool

  • mind you're own fucking business. How bout you just fucking coment on the god damned video. If you don't like what I have to say, then get over it, asshole. I didn't coment on your shitty list or whatever the fuck bullshit you had to say so just piss off, homo.

  • When did I at all imply I was a homosexual? And can we please get out of the personal insults, they are unnecessary. Also I would like to point out that I am not an asshole, and if you don't like what I have to say, get over it, no need to make a big deal. I would also like to point out that my list is not shitty.

  • 1.If you wanted to leave the personal insults out you shouldn't have called me a fool.

    2. You started this, if you didn't want an arguement you should have left me the fuck alone.

    3. Your opinion of your list may be your own, however; I doubt anyone has ever watched or enjoyed 90% of the shit list you posted.

    4. You may or may not be an asshole, but you are rather pretentious by listing out films that society forces americans to like, have an opinion of your own and grow some balls fag.

  • I actually do enjoy those films very much, sorry if you don't like em, that is my opinion. I think they are all great. But you are right about the personal attacks, so I am sorry. I would however still like to know what makes you think I am a homosexual? This seems to be a recurring theme in your comments.

  • Grow up. You don't deserve to have a list if you can't appreciate a film because of the year it came out. People like you have ruined film.

  • You know it's not even the fact that they're old, it's the fact that the general interest of the film only exists in an aquired taste. I'll agree the films of today suck. They're nothing but mindless remakes of classics that abuse the hell out of CGI and basically rape a beloved film. Either that, or it's a movie that stretches out reality on a supposedly true story. All I'm saying are there were more memorable films that really deserve to be the top 100. These may be great, just not for all .

  • A single still from Shawshank Redemption for one second? Surely you can do better than that.

  • wheres fargo?

  • Blade Runner....cool movie

  • Word. It's so underrated.
