  • One of the greatest songs of the 1950's,Its a shame that white cover groups got most of the air play and sold more records then the original black artist...Its White artist like Pat Boon,The Crew Cuts,The Diamonds,Gail Storm,The McGuire sisters etc..These cover groups couldnt come close to the vocal harmony and talant that the black groups had.....

  • I can't seem to pull myself away from this video of my Uncle Jim. Many members of the family sit back and watch it over and over again.

R.I.P Uncle Jimmy. We love you!

    Troy!

  • Well, I really can't explain that one. What I can say is that he was ripped off by the industry. He fought for what right but did not have the money. When he finally was able to collect he died. He loved his family. I was his closest nephew. He was a powerful influence in my life. He taught all of his neices and nephews how to go into business for themselves. A businessman in the community himself for many many years. His heart was gold and his love for people never ended.

  • This is my Uncle Jimmy, affectionally called "Big Jim" by the family. Thank You Uncle Jimmy for all you have taught me. I love you!

    Troy!

  • This is wonderful, I love the song, and love to hear the History of it too...Shame they have the Crew Cuts version on here more than the Chords:(

  • Jimmy shared this story with me when I asked him how the song came about. I use to hang with him and he'd take me to his rehearsals in NYC. It is said that the first real "rock & roll" record was "Sh Boom" by the Chords.

Yes, Life is but a Dream ... Sh Boom!

  • I know of Jimmy Keys, My uncle, my mother's brothers Carl and Claude were part of the original group, I lived for them to rehearse at my mother's home, the Chords were the best. thanks for the memories

  • Of the tousands of early R&R songs we listen to as we drive from gig to gig, this is my girl's favorite---My Mother had this on 45 and we listened to it many times before she passed. God bless you and I'll make sure they all know the story and who made it happen!
