One of the greatest songs of the 1950's,Its a shame that white cover groups got most of the air play and sold more records then the original black artist...Its White artist like Pat Boon,The Crew Cuts,The Diamonds,Gail Storm,The McGuire sisters etc..These cover groups couldnt come close to the vocal harmony and talant that the black groups had.....
Thank you, Schrooms73, for posting this, it's terrific, I really enjoy this kind of information. Is it part of a documentary that you're creating, or that already exists?
Well, I really can't explain that one. What I can say is that he was ripped off by the industry. He fought for what right but did not have the money. When he finally was able to collect he died. He loved his family. I was his closest nephew. He was a powerful influence in my life. He taught all of his neices and nephews how to go into business for themselves. A businessman in the community himself for many many years. His heart was gold and his love for people never ended.
BOOM!!!! SH-BOOM! Can we hang out with you guys on your jam sessions? BOOM!!!! I just love you guys! Thanks to Linda for sharing this and to Schrooms73 for posting it. We want to learn as much as we can about the BEST SHHH-BOOM music EVER recorded! Thank YOU!
Jimmy shared this story with me when I asked him how the song came about. I use to hang with him and he'd take me to his rehearsals in NYC. It is said that the first real "rock & roll" record was "Sh Boom" by the Chords.
I know of Jimmy Keys, My uncle, my mother's brothers Carl and Claude were part of the original group, I lived for them to rehearse at my mother's home, the Chords were the best. thanks for the memories
Of the tousands of early R&R songs we listen to as we drive from gig to gig, this is my girl's favorite---My Mother had this on 45 and we listened to it many times before she passed. God bless you and I'll make sure they all know the story and who made it happen!
Thank you so much for posting this. I saw the entire programme years ago and especially remembered this clip. It just makes you want to jump up and sing along. I love these guys!

I taught Jimmy Keyes kids in The Bronx. I had Paul, Jimmy Jr, and his daughter.
He was in my office so many times and did career day for me so many times.
I went to his funeral
A sweet wonderful Man
