On the studio recording, it's a half step up from what you're playing, but I've noticed Ozzy has performed it live a half step down (like this)...probably easier for him to sing... I'm learning it in the higher key, and it doesn't seem hard to play. Wish this tutorial wasn't a half step down -_-
did you transpose your keys down a half step?? cause I'm playing along trying to learn this on piano and we are not in the same tuning....if you ever had to play this in the same tuning as the cd on another keyboard you would be out of tune!! that's why i learn all songs in standard tuning so i can play it anywhere on any keys and be in the exact key as the cd............good skilz though!
Exceptional Playing Man.. I Loved It!! Is There Anyway I Could Get In Touch With You To Get The Piano Chords?? I See You Already Posted The Intro In A Comment,, But I Still Want To Learn The Actual Piano Played Parts.. Thanks
It sounds the way it should, great work, could you give me the string sound names, I have a Fantom s 88 and on mine your beginning sound is choral voices. What keys are you playing in? Thanks very much.
An over head or over the shoulder camera angle works real good.
I learned the opening synth to Mr. Crowley and I wanted to learn this too. I saw your comment about making a new video with a better angle, and I think you totally should, if its not too much trouble. And if you could send the tabs or what chords you're playing, that would be awesome too!
nice work i play drums and i have a piano next to it for like gets me through i play the piano part then com in when the drums do but i would really like to learn the middle of this son so i can play in the middle and not sit there it would be pretty fun
anyway possible that you can get a closer view of your right hand, you are the only person on youtube who has this song on the piano, I really would love to learn it. Thanks and great job
I appreciate it. I definitely need to make videos with better angles. I have not yet figured out exactly how I am going to do that, but when I do I will see if I can do this video over. The intro voice sounding synth parts are as follows..left hand stays in D the entire time......Right hand chords from lowest to highest note...ADF#, BDEG, CDFA, DFA#. Hope this helps you get started!
Hey there, I too have a JV-80 that I bought in early '93 and she's tops! I'll have to hit you up off-line for some tips for that demo. Great job! By the way, I'm also a big fan of yours 'cause you post really good stuff for us to enjoy!
Hello, thank you for the compliment! Recently I have had a need to create a lot of 80's sounds using the JV80. Typically it's strength has been the ability to provide the keyboardist with convincing orchestral sounds. Analog sounds have always been weak on the JV. However, after about 20 hours of programming I have found a way to get some great analog sounds out of it by detuning the waves and getting the right chorus effect. Now I have some very convincing Oberheim OBXA patches!
i apprecaite the comment. I remember learning this back in 92, I barely knew what I was doing then so I figure most average keyboard players can figure this one out. No More Tears was the best song happening then..IMHO.
I don't have the patches anywhere on the web, partially because I don't have a system set up to get them to my computer. However, if anyone wants my sounds that are in the user bank, I would be more than happy to put them on a Ram card for them if they send me one and cover the low costs of sending it back. The JV80 is a great keyboard, I have had mine since 1992.
Really? All it takes is a midi cable and some freeware software. Anyways, you don't have to go to any trouble, was just curious to see if you had them readily available.
I got my JV-80 off ebay and most of the user presets sound horrible. Got some really nice analog ones from a yahoo group. This synth has so much range! I have the super sound set too which has some amazing patches.
Fire the bass player for not showing up and while your at it, fire the drummer.

I did it on the Roland JV80. A JV1000 is the same thing as well. You may have to do some programming.

Nicely done--you nailed both the sounds and the parts. That's probably my favorite Ozzy song.
