  • I want info too!!! I have a 1998 Mk8 LSC that I want to play around with..

  • Do you have anything done to it? I had a bone-stock one with a best of 15.36. It was pretty hot out though.

  • Nitrous System: Nitrous Express 20922 with DynoTune progressive controller set at 30hp at launch and a 1.5 second ramp

    Nitrous Shot: 100

    Engine Specifics: 4.6L Modular

Intake/ Air Filter: Modified stock with all the silencer crap taken off

    Headers: Stock manifold

Exhaust: Magnaflow with ginormous cutouts immediately aft of the manifolds

Computer/Chip: SCT Superchip tuned by Wes Choate at All Out Performance

Ignition: Screamin' Demon coil packs with Livewire wires

  • Spark Plugs: AC Delco R42LTS

Fuel Octane: 87 (yup you read that right)

Transmission: Computer modified 4R70W with 2800 stall

    Differential: Track-Lock

Cooling System: Computer modified, stock system

    Gears: 3.73

    Suspension: Ridin' on air!

    Wheels: Stock 16" 20 spoke

Tires: BF Goodrich Drag Radials, 275/16/50

    Weight with Driver: 4000

  • Misc: Dynotune in car A/F meter, Snow Performance N/A water-methanol injection kit, custom designed and manufactured nitrous/water-meth electronic controls and metering

  • Now I'm really confused. 100 shot with the cold air trick, chip, exhaust, ignition, locked diff, drag tires, etc. and it only got you 0.16 better than stock???

  • Oh, duh. I thought this was related to an earlier conversation. :) I tend to think that everything is about ME. No, that combination netted me a 12.18. I guess that was a bit of a post hijack, my apologies.

  • Hahaha. I gotcha - 12.18 is more like it :)

  • Smoke Show.

  • what ever i can...my friend took his granpas mark out and well we figured out it ran excelent...so now its his and we but a set of black pacers on it and flowmasters...id like to get some more performance out of it befor we take it to the track in london

  • If you want some info on how to make that Mark VIII into a real sleeper, let me know. I'd be happy to share.

  • I want.

  • i do to!

  • I currently have mine down to a 13.2 consistently, with some runs at the 13.1 and 13.0 level. 12.99 has been elusive, to say the least. How much information do you want?

  • mark VIII pretty much is a sleeper stock and its easy to make it faster

  • Well I guess if you consider 15.2 stock in the quarter fast, then yes it is fast stock. I can be made REALLY fast if you put some effort into it, however.

  • really a mark VIII should be a high 14 not a low 15. and due to the fact it shares a engine of the DOHC panther planform, its easy to find parts. cobra, marauder, and mark VIII all use the same engine and with minor mods they can all be used on a mark VIII. 14 on a 1/4 is ok concidering (426 Hemi 425: 0-60 in 6.4 sec, 1/4 mile in 14.16 sec @ 96.15mph)

  • At the risk of seeming to want to get into an internet argument, I'd like to point out that first off the Mark VIII is an FN-10, not a Panther, and the DOHC that is in the Mark VIII is a Teksid block and has a very different intake than either the Cobra or the Marauder, and besides some simple bolt-on accessories actually does NOT share the wealth of mods that can be found for, example, the Cobra or Mach I. Headers as an instance require rerouting the steering assembly.

  • I think that you will also find, if you peruse a site such as markviii org or lincolnsofdistinction that a stock 93-94 will place from 14.8 to 15.2, with most all other models including the 2nd Gen in the 15.0+ range. And since my own personal Mark VIII is running a consistent 12.5 with a current high of 12.18, I think you can probably assume that I have some basis of fact on which to base my conclusions.

  • true but it still uses a 4.6 dohc and with slight mods could use most of the cobra and marauder upgrades, esp if you where to use a cobra's computer. most ppl wouldnt mind making slight adjustments to use the cobra's mods.

  • Define mods. Supercharger? Gonna have to change the intake, cams and MAF and it won't fit under the hood. Headers? Gonna have to reroute the steering. Chip? ok, that's easy. Pulleys? Worthless but easy. Suspension? Well the Mark is IRS and totally different than any Mustang. Rear end? Any Ford 8.8 will work so that's good. So please tell me what mods you are talking about? I am not bashing the car but nothing is "easy" about it.

  • for starters Cold air intake, up the maf, up the TB, shorty headers from a mustang (with slight fabrications) should work, port and polished Plenum, most exhaust system upgrades from a cobra would work (again may need fabrication), supercharging almost any ford or Lincoln involves a hood upgrade.

plus these 4.6s ford uses can take hell, nitrous systems seem to work very well and there you can use a cobra's nitrous system.

by "easy" i meant easy to find the parts

  • Instead of point by point going over each of your options I would like to say that the reason I am addressing this at all is by using the word "easy" it takes away from the very intense amount of study and work that I and others have done in order to produce a "fast" Mark VIII. At no time was it "easy" and 70% of what is available doesn't produce a measurable result either on the dyno, nor at the track.

  • I have worked now for 3 years on my Mark, and I have dyno'd and experimented with every engine bolt on and accessory you can imagine including CAIs, Shortys, exhausts, U/D pullies, J-mods to the 4r70w, 80mm TBs, MAF upgrades, gear changes, driveshafts, IMRC deletes, intake changes, cams, nitrous and just about anything else excluding S/C or Turbos. Please don't belittle my work by calling all of that easy!
