Think to yourself that every day is your last. The hour to which you do not look forward will come as a welcome surprise. As for me, when you want a good laugh, you will find me in fine state... fat and sleek, a true hog of Epicurus' herd.
What orchestra performed this, please? It's such a beautiful performance. I used it as the background music for signing out, when I was on the radio many years ago (a little classical station). It brings back such beautiful memories. Many thanks for posting this!
I love the fact you are all talking about the flautist being in trouble, and so flippant.... Have any of you people ever seen what Hannibal Lecter does to the guy who gets this wrong?
The flute solo at the end is used for conservatory auditions. Highly difficult breathing, one phrase requires 18 measures of straight playing, unless the conductor allows the flutist to cut one note.
Where can I purchase this version on audio CD or mp3, as part of the entire composition? Maybe you could at least tell me more details about the performance (e.g. conductor, year, flutists) that would help me find it. Thank you.
i had to dance to this song ...i got first place....i was 12......my teacher said ive reached my limits in dance and she said i should stop...but she said that cause after i danced all i mean all of the song i collapsed at the end....but hey i still love to listen to this song!
just read this in english and finished the book a couple of days ago and now i have an essay to write. and i remember this is Titania loving Bottom while she tells the faries to get her food for bottom.
The first few seconds were used by "SCTV" for their "AM News" sketches with Floyd Robertson (Joe Flaherty) and Earl Camembert (Eugene Levy) in the show's first (1976-77) season.
repeat. repeat. repeat

So all the piano versions of this piece on youtube....did Mendelssohn transcribe his orchestral composition to piano or did another composer do it?

Reminds me a bit of the scherzo from Beethoven's opus 125 in places, but is more lighthearted, less intense and driving.

I can't hear the opening notes anymore without listening in my head to the following lines:
"I'm Floyd Robertson . . . "
"And I'm Earl Camembert . . . "
" . . . and this is the SCTV News."

Hello,
This is fine... but the volume is awfully low. If you ever re-post it, I hope you can get the volume better.
Cheers, EA
