  • Indeed by jove, no

  • Esquire is simply the title used instead of mister, every man is entitled to esquire after his name.Squire is an English term for landlord of a rural community or village as in the Scots tile of Laird,it has no rank in the Peerage.

  • At around 1:35 Sean Connery's character mentions his father was an 'squire' -which is a minor royal title after a Knight; just like the Americans who signed the treaty of Paris 1783 ( Aye know who you're dealing with).

  • @RogerLucasTango: I think he said "esquire" but the meaning is the same

  • @TheSmithersy if one were to realize that this whole continent Australia is owned by her Majesty the Queen. Therefore, one should be free to express their opinion on that of other lands. There is something odd about the United States Declaration of Independence. See the US declared themselves independent of the King, but not of the Crown. See everyone knows Crown and Queen (including heirs) are two separate entitles. Therefore the US is still part of the British Empire. God save the Queen!

  • Alexander, the greatest Macedonian king in history

  • This has been one of my top 5 movies since I saw it in 1975.

  • This film is a treasure. An inspiration to all boys at heart and adventurers. It could also be a moral inspiration to young British men to stop fucking around and just go forth to war.

  • can someone upload the full movie please?

    it would be highly appreciated

  • "Do you remember the Highlanders retreating down the hill?

And the Sergeant's medal got shot off so he went back to grab it?

So the rest of the Highlander soldiers thought he was rallying so they went back to that top of the will with him."

I cant exactly remember how it was said but i thought that was a brilliant and funny story when they were stuck on the mountains. Very good movie, one of the classics.

  • @magicstorm1

Do you remember the time the Highlanders were retreating down the hill at Ali-Bijid, and Pipe-Major McQuillin got his sporran shot off?! hehehehe!!

Half-a-Crown was in it, right? So back he goes up the hill after it, without looking to see if that was all he lost! hahahaha!!!

And then he got the Victoria Cross because the bloody Highlanders turned around and followed him back up the hill again!!! hahahaha!!!

  • is this out on blue ray?

  • @Bambi23000 Yes, I believe it is.

  • Michael Caine AND Sean Connery?! AWESOME OVERLOAD!

  • cool.

  • Brilliant film . I'm asking my video store if they have it in. Well made well acted great story line .

  • oh god stop being pc . a brilliant movie. screen LEGENDS on screen, side by side, acting like their brits having good time

  • both caine and Connery were completely wrecked on cheap Scotch and Moroccan weed for the entire filming.Except lady shakira was always shouting at both, being the good Muslim wife she is

  • kafiristan =nursitan is still most remote part of world filled with blonde people.

  • @JuanMacready I suffered racial abuse as a child. The Asians however couldn't care less about the content of this movie, and of course, book burning is what the Nazis were very good at. This is one of the Top British oriented movies of all time.

  • @JuanMacready

"This racist film should be banned."

Get a life. What an idiot. Do you think that Connery's or Cain's characters represented all whites. It pokes fun at everyone in the movie. Unfortunately, radicalized idiots like yourself turn everything into "issues". Race, politics, gender. You need some DE sensitivity training. Try reading or watching something that isn't a constant reinforcement of your own radical world view.

  • @JuanMacready He told him different people ,different cultures,we must be tollerant, why is this Racist

  • @47LN81 It's a racist film about the Empire. Caine overacted so badly and the film itself is boring and goes on for far too long.

  • @JuanMacready whats racists????You need a pet goat

  • Comment removed

  • @JuanMacready Nutter alert!

  • @ericlegrisly This film is a boring, racist piece of shit.

  • @JuanMacready - I was going to enter into a dialogue with you, Juan, but I've just read your other posts and concluded that you are an odious pariah and best avoided. For that reason, I'm out.

Oh, and if you are going to be something as utterly worthless as a youtube troll, at least try and be good at it.

  • @JuanMacready why is it racist?

  • @58fenix The portrayal of the natives is very racist.

  • @JuanMacready Poor little communist freak, you have no friends, you were too lazy to study in school, and now you have to troll YouTube videos and whine and whine to feel like a big boy instead of a shitty little leftist pig. Oink oink, little pig. Keep oinking in video comments, show people what a communist retard sounds like. LOL It's hilarious to watch you.

  • nyet , nuristanis are white therefore equal to you and me.

  • @JuanMacready Its entertaiment, weather you like it or not who cares,I myself enjoyed it,There is nothing racist about it for the time period it represents.Infact the empire told us to be tollerent of other cultures, unlike those other cultures that believe in stoneing, and that women are not equil.

  • LONG LIVE THE BRITISH EMPIRE!

  • "Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." -

    Henry Kissinger

  • PLEASE DO NOT REMAKE THIS FILM.

Several scripts were proposed from the 50s onwards but they got it right here.

  • @Kelly14UK It would have been far better with Spencer Tracy and Clark gable, since Caine overacted so badly.

  • This is a illuminati movie, this is how we will be if we don't do anything about it.

  • is this movie about the dajjal??

  • @omyZEUS1 schizas.com then add the above link

  • Απάντηση σε αυτό το βίντεο...here is the answer with FOTOS of those coins/notes..maybe now you wish to bring them in your hand ???

  • This movie's about the antichrist.

In muslim tradition, the antichrist is one eyed and will come in the last age to be king and make of the kafirs (kafirs= miscreant in arabic) and make them believe he is a god.

  • @KarasuNoGoh ha,ha...they're still people who believe in devils and antichrists ?

offcourse ..otherwise there is no reason the churches to exist and eat people's money

  • @omyZEUS1 Yep yep, heard that thousands of times, and used to believe it myself, guess what, I know just perfectly how you think, and you're just not as clever as you believe you are. (Believe it or not)

  • @KarasuNoGoh No i do believe it myfriend..i'm an average ordinary man..i just dont like to kneel to the powers of money who control this world through churches and religions..i was like you too when i started reading the Bible comparin the HISTORICAL descriptions which DO NOT MUCH AT ALL with history you know..

you don't have to be clever to realize that..you just need to be openminded and not fanatic and blind like you (maybe..)..

  • @omyZEUS1 I'm a muslim, not a christian. Your problems with Church is none of mine, and nobody ever tried to take my money or give me orders. Quran and Sunnah are very self explanatory, the Imam is there to give you advices if you'd like to have some, but saying he knows islam better than you is not is place and he wouldn't dare.

  • @omyZEUS1 Plus if you want to talk about religionS, you know which one looks like it requires the most naive person to be an adept? Atheism. Religion of the great god "coincidence", that actually made people believe that a living cell (which is far, faaaar more complicated than your computer) created itself with the help of the great coincidence.

Imagine if i told you "see your computer? nobody made it, it made itself by accident".

  • @KarasuNoGoh and if you want one advice since you're a good Christian or muslim (different side of the same coin) at least do what your god orders you and stop judging if you dont want to be judged...the ancient Hellenic civilization opened the minds of the people with the freedom of spirit and freedom of speech and philosophy that's why humanity met the best times of human beings at that age..the Gods were friends of the humans..the peole werent kneeling..they were showing the sky..

  • @omyZEUS1 ""and if you want one advice since you're a good Christian or muslim (different side of the same coin) at least do what your god orders you and stop judging if you dont want to be judged""

Yeah, got that a LOOOOOT, from people who do not know the first thing about Islam, they always know much better than myself about my own religion, why? That's simple, i believe in God and The Devil in the 21st Century so I must be stupid.

    What a waste of time.

  • @KarasuNoGoh they loved and respected nature..no God was there to punish, kill and destroy and threaten with Hells and all these bullshit which were invented from humans to put humanity in a dark age...and FEAR...if the men fear it's EASY to control them..if you dont agree with this pls let me know the lessons you learn TODAY in school in your country and worldwide...the lessons/sciences the ancient Greeks found..Maths,Geometry,Philosophy,music,astronomy,poetry,physics..so many more..ciao

  • good movie. the dvd sux cock.

  • Saeed Jaffrey is my great uncle ^^

  • this is really a great movie--has everything going for it, the chem between connery and caine is perfect; the humor, the adventure, the suspense, and in the end the irony all add up to a great story. people who see this as racist should take a chill pill..OK it wasn't produced by the central committee of the ANC..it wasn't written by Nelson Mandela..OK true; not everything has to meet some p.c. stamp of approval

  • this film is AWESOME!!!!

WHITES ARE SUPERIOR!!! EAT YOUR HEART OUT BIACHES!!!!

  • A dated, racist old movie.

  • you're a dated, racist old man.

  • ag don't you think it's time to take your meds and go to bed? obviously you understand nothing of the message of this film

  • @FrankClanton if racism is so dated why is it coming back so strong in Europe. Idiots like you who deny it are the reason it grows so well done.

  • @FrankClanton It's a movie that's particular not to cater to the popular racism of our day, portraying the world of Kipling as it really was. Refreshing stuff when compared to the racist hypocritical Marxian claptrap one is forced to endure these days, but doesn't wax poetic about the colonial past either.

It depicts the 19th century, warts and all, for Europeans and natives alike. No one gets off unscathed, and indeed no one should.

  • I'm totally opposed to imperialism and racism, but I love this film. If anything it shows the hubris and arrogance of the British strutting around in a part of the world they didn't understand. Caine and Connery are brilliant in playing these doomed "superior Brits" though they don't even know who Alexander the Great was. John Huston always liked to show the folly of "civilized" people facing off against "primitive natives."

  • I like imperialism a lot. It does lots of good. Vastly underrated.

  • Being the 5th wife of John Huston and on location during the filming of this film, I can tell you first person this is one of the finest films ever made and a true film adaptation of Kipling! Celeste Huston

  • Two things:

    1) Why would John Huston's long divorced 5th wife materialize to comment on a youtube video?

    2) Even if you are who you say you are, what does being present during filming have to do with your evaluation that TMWWBK "is one of the finest films ever made" and that it was a "true adaptation" of Kipling?

  • tell me how? i understand this movie is racist but still how? the details are ambiguous

  • It's based on a glorification of the Empire by Sir Rudyard Kipling and shows the Indians in an unfavourable light.

  • glorification? I see no glorification here in this film, just the reverse...the message at the end couldn't be clearer....and it ain't pro imperial

  • AWESOME FILM !!! The Hellenas-Greek King ALEXANDROS the GREAT is STILL be loved in these areas..they still have the ancient Greek Kings from the state of Macedonia heads and symbols with ancient Hellenic-Greek letters on their coins !!! even today !!! even on the notes of AFGANISTAN you may read GREEK letters from ALEXANDROS' era...

  • @omyZEUS1

I wish it could be truth. Afganistan notes and coins are typical arabian money with arabian letters and no image of man on it. There are a few exceptions of these rules, but for faces of contemporary Afgan leaders.

  • @Skabiczewski Since you know very well the coins and notes of Afganistan and since you're afraid this is not truth i'm posting this link to refresh your memory..

here you can see VERY CLEARLY Afganistan notes and coins with ancient Hellenic/Greek letters and kings..on this coin you may see the ancient Greek king EYKRATIDIS..next generation after Alexandros the Great..well is you find this not truth too..then might be another reason you're wrote this

  • @omyZEUS1 Alexander certainly left his mark on the world. Like no other in fact.

  • @omyZEUS1 Some people are in fact descends from Greeks they have White features and traditions customs and religions different from rest of peoples that lived there.

  • A real treasure of a film and worth watching 1000s times. I love the brotherhood between carnehand and dravot - I will never forget the smile on peachey's face when dravot asks him for forgiveness at the end. It's a smashing short story - the film is padded out quite a bit - but what padding!

  • @LPCLASSICAL

    Agreed!

In my opinion, like "Blade Runner" improved on Phillip K. Dick's story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” this movie is an example of those rare instances when Hollywood interpretations actually improve a story.

  • Superbe film! Kipling était un génie!

  • oh no, indeed by jove no

  • I love Rudyard Kipling!!!

  • Its all about SIKANDER

  • Sikander Sikander

    you bloody bastards

  • What a great movie! I find always something new after watching it over and over again.

For example, why did Peachy keep Danny's head? Well, maybe he wanted to prove Kipling that Danny really became a king. The main reason probably was to avoid the savages play pool with Danny's head.

  • In the short story by Kipling - Carnehan explains that after he was cut down, he was allowed some time to recover before being sent on his way - he was given Dravot's head and crown as a reminder not to come back.

  • Thanks for the explanation for this detail. Never read the book, think I should. Will my image of the great movie suffer after reading the Kiplings book?

  • It is a rare film - one that does full justice to the story (it is only 20 pages long) - and expands perfectly in my opinion. Caine and Connery just right for the part - cannot imagine anyone else in these roles even though Dravot is english in the book. The billyfish character is much more evident in the film - and beautifully played - Plummer does a super job as the very english correspondent. I can't say enough good words about the film. Perfect.

  • Two great actors in one great movie, directed by a legendary director!!!!

  • I need help, please!!! Does anyone know how and where I can buy or get the soundtrack of this movie. I'm very thankfull in forward. THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE MOVIE EVER. Music actors, location, story, simply everything fits together perfectly.

  • Lohiau1, read Michael Caine's book "What's it all about". i.e, Roxanna in this movie is actually Michael Caine's wife in real life-Shakira.There's a humorous scene where Sean Connary asks Micheal Caine if he minds if he marries Roxanna, Michael responds-not at all.:)

BTW this movie is very Masonic. If u know symbols then u understand how we r ruled by secret societies 2 this day. Funny how "terrorist" attacks happen on astrological/numerology significant days 7/7 21/7 9/11 rise of Venus etc.:)

  • Haven't read the book but already know about Micheal Caine and his wife. It's fun everytime I watch this scene.

  • Did you ever get that soundtrack? I've been looking for it myself, but I've only been able to find ones for about £100 from England and overseas.

If you do have it, it would be absolutely awesome if you'd put a torrent up of it.

  • thanks for posting this great movie

  • At the last moments of the movie. You Can see freemasonry symbols.

  • in university of nantes (france) we are studying the movie and the short story of Kipling... I hope it will be interesting! ^^

  • im taking an acting class. and michael caine says in his book that this was one of the most fun times he had on a movie because of all the improvising he was allowed to do, considering john huston had been working on the screenplay for about 25 years.

  • saw this when i was seven when it came out. i love this one...james bond and harry palmer. 15 years later, uk's channel 4 censored it to death. it's based on a short story by kipling, not really a novel. originally to be a 50s bogart movie, then another newman/ redford outing till huston found these two!

  • WHAT A FABULOUS, FABULOUS MOVIE! Trivia: altho many of you movie movie fans will already know this, the woman who played Sean Connery's/Daniel Dravat's bride in the movie was the actress Shakira Caine, who was (is?) Michael Caine's wife!! "I'm going to meet a man at Marwah Junction." Why don't they make more movies like this one .....

  • I agree 100% VrgniaMailman! I saw this movie when it was released (I was a senior in HS) & it's been a favorite ever since. Sean & Michael were terrific, it was not an easy movie to film but the results were worth it. It was rarely shown on TV & did not get the publicity & recognition it deserved. This movie is a great example of how you don't need special effects, sex, violence, etc. to make a fabulous movie--just a great story w/ great acting! John Huston did a wonderful job directing.

  • the best squaddie movie ever!!!

  • It is the film we have here not the book. Kim with Errol Flynn was even more different and Gunga Din filmed as the Western Sergeants Three in 1963 promoted the humble Hindu water-coolie to sergeant - the African American Sammy Davis Junior! Peachy's last words in the film are "Must be off now - I've got a man to see in the South", which is pretty positive and quite sane. Btw. many long-time residents of the British Raj expired soon after their return to the freezing fog and drizzle of Blighty.

  • This film was not really sad as has been said but fun for most of its footage. This pair of ex-British Army conmen achieved what they set out to do according to their fantastically ambitious plan of conquest, then through pressing their luck a bit too far, Danny dies a noble and heroic death (as does Sam Jaffrey's Indian corporal also), and Peachy survives battered and mutilated but unbowed, still the cheeky chappy.

  • Unbowed my arse he was tortured into insanity and died a homeless beggar in the book from sunstroke. Its an analogy for all those tommies who stayed in the east too long.

  • "He can break wind at both ends simultaneous."

  • peachy carnehan and daniel dravot !

this is one of my favourite movie, i love it

  • Very sad film, but I guess thats what made it a classic and probably the best adventure film ever.

  • Caine delivers one of his best cockney performances ever!! A classic for all.

  • great movie!!! i saw it last night in a french version!!! great actors!!!!!!!

  • rather an unusual movie enacted at high proportions by the original bond Connery with his companion Caine. as a big fan to Connery this movie lasts long in my memories. senthilvel from India
