@hazemvirus Sorry to be a smartass but seriously red lights regardless of what you hear, requires you to make a full stop behind the stop line, then look, then start moving again and go when its clear. If you run way over the line all the time you will hit a pedestrian one day.
They pose no threat to any cross traffic, and neither any pedestrians as they're only going 5 mph. There's plenty of time and sight distance to find if anyone would be trying to cross the street, and it would be the pedestrians' fault anyway for trying to cross a street they're not allowed to at that time.
I can't believe that people make issues about small issues that are misinterpreted in the first place, and those like the mass media have a tendency for doing so.
It wouldn't be the pedestrian's fault if they had a green light. There are 4 crosswalks at that intersection, which means if you went on a red or a green light, you could hit a pedestrian crossing with the walk signal.
I know it wouldn't be the pedestrian's fault if the light was green, but in this case no pedestrians are allowed access to cross Brannan (the red through light in the beginning of the film) and, even though people are allowed to cross 6th Street, here in the foreground (despite how the camera may not capture any potential crosswalkers waiting at this corner) no one is around to provoke traffic to stop and wait for someone to cross.
If someone was waiting on the streetcorner and they were allowed to cross the street, then it is justified for the vehicles to wait until the intersection is clear enough for them to turn right.
KRON 4 must really be hurting for viewers if they're showing news pieces like this. There's nothing wrong with turning right at a red light; as long as you're paying attention to the road out in front of you, no harm, no foul. These people turning right aren't doing anything wrong; the light may be red, but they're turning right when the cross street has a left turn signal where no U-turns are not allowed.
Wish this guy would come to San Diego, it's just as bad here
