  • I dont think it was lack of experience. :(

  • Fuck Vancouver 2010

this time was a Epic Failure.

  • @davidlee110 its *an* epic failure, sir.

  • @adamtgarrison1 fuck that.

  • russians are you happy because a georgian died? fucking russian pigs they were probably celebrating when they heard this news.

  • SOOOOOOO SAD i bet he did that all of his live and now he dead sad

  • So sad.

  • Instinct comes from experience? No no no it most certainly does not.

  • What led to tragic death of Georgian luger? You never answered the question! Thanks for waste'n my 2:43.

  • cx cbxbbc xxcbccbbcbbcn bc b cnxnbcn ncxnxn ncncnx bcbxn ncnxcn cncnxnznxn vcxc

  • let me get this straight. the guy who died is from the team georgia...as the united state georgia? or is it georgia from somewhere else? at the parade they were a team by itself not part of team usa. some1 help out.....

  • @grindcore4 georgia is a country you fucking idiot

  • @Seabeaux13 i didnt kno there was 1 the same as from the states u fuckin homo

  • @televizakis So your saying it was murder, I don't see that possible, I was saying it was a tragic accident, and bad thing's happen to good people.

  • @DavidX710 Let's leave it at manslaughter. Very unfortunate and it should never have happened. I was in Vancouver right before the Olympics for work and I commented at that opening to my colleague where the accident occured. How come I saw the problem and the architects never did?

  • @televizakis

    manslaughter thats a little rough

hardly doubt the engineers who built the place

are haveing a laugh hahah we killed a man mission accoplished

  • poor guy he didn't even get to compete in the olympics (he died practicing) :(

  • Russians.

  • Heartbreaking. A least he died doing what he loved!! RIP xx

  • "i don't think it's dangerous." someone call OSHA.

  • heyaso bored any guys want to rescue me

  • why the hell did they put scented candles on his coffin anybody noticed that :P

  • I guess he just wasnt as good as people said he was. He was a russian, and he screwed up and paid the price for it. Just glad that it didnt happen to a great American!!

  • If it wasn't for Canada you wouldn't have maple syrup to put on your pancakes. Oh and he died doing something dangerous. Last time I checked dangerous things ussual claim lives... This may be the first luge accident, but it doesn't mean the track, track workers or designers are at fault. That would be like saying a vehicle with a 5 star crash rating is garanteed to save you in a accident... there's a risk in doing anything, people know this and act accordingly.

  • So sad!

  • the life is running like a book you cant decide when its over

  • R.I.P.

    Nodar Kumaritashvili

  • too bad but when you deal with speed mountains and sports thats the way it goes

  • Your just an uneducated asshole.

  • Fuck you, i used to like brits but im seeing more ass holes like you, it doesent matter what country it is in, a death can occur in every country.

  • @shaneac9 SHut THE FUCK YOU FUCKER not our fault he died its an american made track and its been inspected many times unlike your shitty american cars which usually seem to kill people

  • @codplazar i am american u dick your both fuckin useless fat bastards ......olympics 2012 .....london dickhead ......bet there wont be any deaths there becuase were not fuckin stupid dummys !!!!

  • @shaneac9 lol so your saying there wont be any hillbillys there sweet, but you cant blame us we held the game you made the track im thinking your fault

  • @codplazar im english u silly canadian fuck do u not get it ? london olympics a clue ?? fool ....your amatuers

  • @shaneac9 why dont you brush your teeth you english hillbilly

  • @whitehawk38 shut it canadian scum bag hahahahahahaha

  • @shaneac9 liverpool fucking sucks dick. 3-1 newcastle.

  • @whitehawk38 uh, dude, this isn't about football, it's something else.

  • @shaneac9 dude what are you talking about? this is what gives americans like me and you a bad rap because people like you are just plain stupid... what do you even have against canada?

  • @shaneac9 learn to spell.i thought you weren't a "dummys"

  • I am very offended that they keep trying to blame the experience of the athlete. Sounds like a death penalty for making an error in judgment. Since crashes do happen the facilities should be designed to safely contain the crash. Even the most experienced are constantly pushing the limits and will crash.

  • Agreed: a very full investigation needs to happen. The luge track is dangerous, ostensibly...it killed a brave young man. This tragedy could have been averted. So, Nodar, you have saved lives. You will not be forgotten.

  • Umm.. where can I see the actually footage?

  • Comment removed

  • I am Canadian and I think there should be a full investigation. A man with a family died! He deserve to be investigated and if the Canadian/olympic teams messed up the track somehow then they should have to compensate the family.

  • terrible thing that should have never happened. poor bastard fuck that track

  • why dont they have the end of the track a full pipe for a diistance long enough for the thing to come to a stop.

  • @CrazyMcSwaggin i completely agree, like a 1o cm long thing around the sharpest curve.

i bet a male desgned the track no offence lol but even a 10 year old could design that track better

  • if a female had designed the track it would have been 100 meters long with a 5% grade and no curves in it because that's all that women can offer as far as engineering goes...real exciting...yawn

  • you think a female could design a better track??

  • Getting back to the original question...

The track is what led the luger's death; The death was caused by one of several steel poles, none of which should have been anywhere near the track, to begin with.

  • bless that poor man!

  • Son of a bitch!!!

  • The existance of the unavoidable death poles was initially the fault of the track engineer...Yhe fault for their existance, in the years afterward, lies squarely with whomever was in charge, at whatever time, for each of its 5000 or so runs.

  • The poles should NOT have been anywhere near the track... No poles means no need to pad them.

  • Nodar was killed by a steel pole.

The poles were put there by an engineer, and they Stayed there because of the peolpe in charge, PERIOD.

  • "The track is build to contain the body within the track." Yeah, right. This was the fastest curve. Even though such an accident has never happened before, it doesn't mean that it WON'T happen. They didn't take that into consideration when they build the thing. In a high-risk sport like luge all the "what-if's" should be considered. And don't give me that crap about inexperience. If he were inexperienced, he would've never made it to the Olympics to begin with!

  • Comment removed

  • @BettySlocombe68 actually you are supposed to put your arns/legs down cause it helps you slow down which is what he was trying to do. you aren't no luge expert but his father was and he said it actually helps so yeah and no one died, yes but people were constantely crashing on it

  • Thank you for your response without name calling! It's appreciated. I am not an expert. He lost control on the turn, put his hand down to slow himself down which started one awful chain of events. Sorry I didn't explain that better. I was quoting what some of the other lugers said about lowering the start.. hated it. It's a dangerous sport.. it's amazing there aren't more deaths. Netting might have helped. It's sad that it takes a death before extra precautions are taken..look at plane crashes.

  • A little bit dangerous ??? What a hypocrit. Even if it was Nadar's fault, it should never end like this.

  • Comment removed

  • Of course, one life is nothing - that's your opinion. One life is everything !

  • guys are u like the presidents or something cuz u keep fighting and saying "my country is better than your", "Americans are jealous of canadians" and all that shit.

  • As an American, I apologize for the idiot below me.

  • RIP xx

  • The video of it is at OlympicsWinter2010 com

  • The Crash Was caught on Camera, we all saw it Live on TV here in Vancouver. As for Some countries being better, well, Everyone has the right to believe their country is the best, they just don't need to rub it in the faces of other countries....Right USA?

Anyways, the Olympics were a Great experience that we In Vancouver will remember for a Lifetime! thank you to all the countries who participated. and R.I.P Nodar

  • Rub it in your faces??? Lets see the whorish Canadian women smoked cigars and UNDERAGE players on the team were drinking after they won the Gold..thats not rubbing it in. The USA will always dominate the Olympics and countries like Canada will win their national sports Gold Medal. Remember without the NHL and Canada being Americanized, your country wouldnt be shit..

  • Comment removed

  • More like without Canadian players, NHL wouldent exisoist, the only reason NHL is popular is cause there are so many Canadian players 51% of players are Canadian in the NHL and Canada has all the buisnesss's home grown we need

  • SAD r.i.p very unlucky

thank god the crash wasnt caught on camera!

  • it is on camera...

  • @eliseley it was caught on camera... so sad ! RIP Nodar

  • @eliseley You live under a rock. The video is all over the Internet.

  • the olympics are about having fun not about what team is better! sure a luger died but apart from that its all about enjoying it! i havent heard one comment on here that says rip nodar or something like that. rip nodar †

  • umm actually the olympics are a huge contest to see whos the best in each sport...

  • "perhaps inexperience has something to do with it?" ~yeah right, inexperience would earn you a place in the Olympic team! seemed like the reporter is asking INEXPERIENCE question here!

  • i am so sick of all the "my country is better than yours" crap on youtube. if you really want to represent your country well, stop making it's people look like catty, obnoxious, braging, youtube jerks. it's plain embarrasing

  • @NORTHinuit excellent retort

  • calm down everyone it was lack of experience

  • I love the 6 replies in like 20 Mins like get laid buddy. Or at least a life

  • @PimpinLif3 five replies in 20 minutes means he needs to get laid? how do you deduce that?

  • Anyone know the result of the mens icehockey final.

  • lol stop bragging ,

  • good job on the olympics vancouver! who cares about who got more medals lets hope for a safer olympics in 2014 in russia

  • Does it really matter? Canada has most golds, the USA is no. 1 in medal count. I personally feel there should be a point system- a gold gets you three points, a silver 2, bronze 1.

  • Why is everyone hating on the best country in the world? All our athletes are class acts, Canada is the greatest and Alex bilodeu started it all. Thank you Canada you did what you said YOU OWNED THE PODIUM!! 14 golds, #1!! not #2, or #3!!!

  • You probably let those athletes train in Vancouver on the courses they would run in the olympics. Boo to Canada. #1 is how many medals you get. Period. Spin it any way you want, but truth is 11 MORE people won shit than yours did. On your OWN website it shows USA in first place, ON TOP. Justify that 3rd place any way you want.

  • Take a pill, will ya?

(And Americans wonder why people think they're jerks.)

  • the same reason people hate the U.S.A because you are arogant

  • @PimpinLif3 no, canada is not the greatest... don't pull this patriotism BS

  • Canada wins with the most gold medals, which i personally think that's what counts on a tournament. Who gets to have the most on first place, total of medals any country can bring many athletes and easily win, which in this case was USA, but Canada wins with the most gold, meaning number 1.

  • they should have raised side walls so it keeps the athlete inside if they crash....

it would just result in sliding about rather than a collision at 90mph!?

  • @welshgandi

    Now we're talkin.

  • Terrible tragedy. Even if he had gotten to skate the the Canadian judges would have just given it to Canada. This is the worst most biased Olympic games in history. Fuck Canada's judges. Oh and the medals are cheap recycled pieces of ugly shit.

  • i agree i live in canada and these olympics are really bias.

  • Comment removed

  • i remember watching this ukrainian couple figure skating in a tight blue avatar looking suit and the stupid commentators were making fun of them and their suit...wtf?...dats just wrong...i was shocked.

  • In Torino, Italy - Canada got 7 gold, 10 silver, 7 bronze for a total of 24.

In Vancouver at least so far they have 13 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze for a total of 25.

The numbers aren't that different, only one more medal. The quality of the medals IS VERY DIFFERENT. So you are telling me that in a mere 4 years time Canada was able to train athletes capable of DOUBLING THEIR GOLD MEDALS? BULLSHIT. I CRY BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT.

They DQ'd Apollo Ohno for a bad reason to get 2 medals of their own.

  • Canada won fair and square...

  • Hey dude, are you in the olympics? If not, stfu and stop spamming and crying.

  • I'm in the YouTube Olympics. So you spam right back huh?

  • @ShogaNinja how can you blame canada? they did 3000 test runs and nothing happend. it was a freak accedent! im not from canada but you dont need to blame them! all you should do is pray for the family.

  • If I were you I'd pray for a settlement that doesn't bankrupt the national treasury of Canada.

  • Comment removed

  • ShogaNinja,

Yikes! Are you ever an embarrassment to your country! Your ignorance is incredibly nauseating! Maybe start with googling IOC and do some research as to how the olympic events are actually monitored and scored. You might be surprised to learn that the IOC utilizes the expertise of judges from all over the world. So saying Canada cheats , Canada sucks not to mention your asinine comments about your military and corporations, reveals your immaturity and how much of an idiot you are.

  • Your entire country is an embarrassment. Get your own culture and stop trying to swing on our nuts.

No one even knows how to judge ice skating any more, not even the old pros. You Canadians really fucked these olympics up. I barely know anyone who even watched them. YES I AM AWARE IT IS A WORLD COMMISSION, but when Canada puts 10-10-10-10-10-10-10 For all their athletes it starts to add up, you douchebags. It's easy to win when you DQ every American you can.

  • if Canadian judges gave perfect scores to every Canadian athlete during the games....don't you think Canada would have the highest medal count?? Simple math....

  • Comment removed

  • blahblahblah there are so many politics that led to canada getting so many golds it makes me sick. The Olympics are over. They are so last week. Why reply? I hereby make a prediction that you guys get about 7 golds tops in Russia, like you should have gotten this time. Mark my words.

Quantity over quality. It's how we won WWII.

  • Comment removed

  • @ BettySlocombe68 - why are you so rude to everyone here? You make fun of people because their English isn't good, and call others kids. You're 41 years old, but your attitude is more than immature. Not a good role model for the teenagers on here, don't you think? If you want to talk about your issues, contact me. Maybe you just need someone to listen.

  • ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

in 100% agreement so BOOOOOOM! - you crotchety old beeyotch.

  • nobody likes you

  • even if canada cheated, as some of the comments are suggesting, that only takes away 1 or 2 gold medal wins that was determined by judges. This still leaves 11 or 12 gold medal wins that didn't involve judges, such as racing events, hockey, curling etc... still leaving Canada in top gold medal position. so for the hater americans, step out of the limelight for a sec, and be gracious for once. there's always next year. either way, great show from all the olympic athletes from around the world!

  • Its seems like there were definitely some safety measures that could have prevented his death like raising the side walls after the turn where he died. im guessing the possibility of something like this happening was nil in the minds of the designers or they would have thought of it originally. i wonder what compensations, if any where given to the family. very tragic accident...

    RIP Nodar Kumaritashvili

  • bored now.

so it's not feasible that Canada designed courses for Canadians, or let them practice on those courses at Whistler... come on. LAME. You guys suck at everything but curling and hockey. period. Enjoy your stolen limelight. It cost one guy his life.

  • a german dude designed the course..just sayin

  • Actually an Amercian designed the track, so thats a hard pill to swallow. It was caused by his own errors, THOUGH i dont think it should of cost him his life, when he fell off hitting a poll padded with steel or not would kill him instantley.

Thanks we will enjoy the limilight

  • @ShogaNinja shut the fuck up..clearly you dont know shit.

these course were not designed for Canadians.

and as for the courses at whistler. each athlete got to train on the downhill once and inspect the others..thats how its been FOR EVERY PAST OLYMPICS

14 gold medals doesnt seem like we suck at everything?

    go back to McDonalds

  • @kyle887923

That comment is over a month old for fuck's sake. get over yourself troller.

    I dub you Sir Loser.

Eat a dick, and keep pretending we don't own your country.

  • @ShogaNinja There is no we in US.

  • @ShogaNinja SHUT THE FUCK UP DUDE USA LOST BIG TIME IN TERMS OF GOLD MEADLS SO CANADA DOESN"T SUCK AT EVERY THING BUT HOCKEY AND CURLING

  • Your embarrising your country, i dont feel embaressed at all. I say Vancouver has a very good games, not the best, but very well done. We have are own culture, we dont try to MELT all the cultures into one like USA does, we have a mosaic meaning each culture in Canada is joined with others NOT MELTED together, so that there are many different cultures in Canada, rather hten just one/

The judges didnt win, and there were only 3 judged events Canada won in, so even if we didnt get anything,

  • @team1200 true..people have their own cultures , but, there is a common culture that is shared overall to..

but still, like you said, its not the melting pot culture america has where your not "considered" an american by many if you dont conform

  • The judges didnt cheawt, and there were only 3 judged events Canada won in, so even if we didnt get anything, we would of still won the most gold.

Were not biased, its just your team sucked they cant skate for shit which is why the got bad scores, hay at least u got a silver in ice dance, gold went to Canada though cause we were the better skaters.

  • ShogaNinja, you also suck too.

  • u said it the weather sucked but u are also a jackass

  • You can't even get a whole sentence out. Insult FAIL. Loser.

    No wonder we own you.

  • Comment removed

  • lol cosnidering an amercian designed the course Canada is not at fault. What can we do to control the weather? please make some suggestions

lol dont be so damn jealous

  • @team1200

Build a weather machine and a time machine all in one and give dude his life back?

Just cuz an American designed it doesn't mean that Canadians built it right. We been dealing with bad cars from you guys for a long time. American designed cars...

  • you can actually shoot a missile up the sky to control weather. During 2008 Beijing China olympics thats what they did. But it is probably very expensive. I also heard the death of Luger was actually his own fault for doing a steering error.

  • Sounds harmful to the enviroment lol

    It was, but still RIP

  • I do agree with you on this one. That was rude to make fun of their outfits.

  • *nods head in agreement*

  • Comment removed

  • I hope the family is properly satisfied with the investigation process .

  • @canadastreetmedia

    There hasn't been one Yet.

  • Very well said. I hope it's a fair balanced investigation. It's like when there's a plane crash and new safety measures are taken. Saldy there has to be injuries/deaths before we find flaws in the system.

  • dude your time has come and gone! Who has the number one banking system in the world? Canada. Who has the strongest currency in the world? UK then the EU. Who is the largest manufactuer of goods? China. Your economy is in a downward spiral only getting worse. I'm sorry but nobody cares that you have the most advanced military in the world because if you can't afford to move it anywhere who are u gonna scare?

  • it's funny that everyone is against Canada but I am Canadian and I BELIEVE that U.S. and other countries making remarks are just jelous. It's okay, we understand that we live in a place where there is freedom of speech and you are allowed to say what you want but we succeeded because we were great this year!! Way to Canada, you made us all proud!!

  • No we whooped your ass with 11 more medals than you. On your OWN website we are #1 as we will always be in the Olympics because we put the most money into it than any other country to show you all that you are a bunch of chumps.

You can say you got more golds - like I said the judges were biased from Canada. Big deal, ya cheated - good for you. We still got 11 more medals. That's 11 events, 11 athletes, 11 times we whooped ass and you didn't. I love how you try to spin it.

    USA FTW

    CANADA FTL.

  • USA FTW <---- lol

  • Comment removed

  • LOL yeah americans are jealous of canadians. Whatever helps you sleep at night xD

  • Hey fucking idiot, Canada did not cheat. If Canada did, Canada would have more that 14 gold medals.

  • are you an moron? the events are judged equally from judges from many countries don't get angry at Canada you stupid fuck because we had the most gold (14) our country is only 35 million many of the events we beat you in didn't take judges you fucking degenerate (speed skating hockey skeleton bobsleigh) you are a loser fuck you

  • Nice, throw insults like it appears to make you sound smarter. You don't even contribute to youtube, go suck a bag of dicks and fuck right off.

  • Ummm.....you are not very bright are you...you tell other people not to throw insults around...yet you do it anyway....hmmmm....we call people like you HIPOCRITES.....just saying....

  • @ShogaNinja you don't contribute to any sense involving logic i wouldn't be surprised if you were retarded

  • Comment removed

  • Wah wah wah. Sounds like someone needs a soother to suck on. Read this and weep you baby!

Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor with NBC:

After tonight's broadcast and after looting our hotel mini-bars, we're going to try to brave the blizzard and fly east to home and hearth, and to do laundry well into next week. Before we leave this thoroughly polite country, the polite thing to do is leave behind a thank-you note.

    Thank you, Canada:

  • @MKYAlexander Please stop argueing your arguing on something like this! this is made history! this is horribly sad...please stop arguing on this what if the familys saw this!

  • @MKYAlexander i did nothing, but your welcome and thank you for your kind words about us!!

  • @MKYAlexander Your welcome

    From: Vancouver,BC,Canada :)

  • For being such good hosts.

    For your unfailing courtesy.

    For your (mostly) beautiful weather.

For scheduling no more than 60 percent of your float plane departures at the exact moment when I was trying to say something on television.

For not seeming to mind the occasional (or constant) good-natured mimicry of your accents.

For your unique TV commercials -- for companies like Tim Hortons -- which made us laugh and cry.

  • For securing this massive event without choking security, and without publicly displaying a single automatic weapon.

For having the best garment design and logo-wear of the games -- you've made wearing your name a cool thing to do.

For the sportsmanship we saw most of your athletes display.

For not honking your horns. I didn't hear one car horn in 15 days -- which also means none of my fellow New Yorkers rented cars while visiting.

  • For making us aware of how many of you have been watching NBC all these years.

For having the good taste to have an anchorman named Brian Williams on your CTV network, who turns out to be such a nice guy.

For the body scans at the airport which make pat-downs and cavity searches unnecessary.

For designing those really cool LED Olympic rings in the harbor, which turned to gold when your athletes won one.

  • For always saying nice things about the United States...when you know we're listening.

For sharing Joannie Rochette with us.

For reminding some of us we used to be a more civil society.

Mostly, for welcoming the world with such ease and making lasting friends with all of us.

  • For spamming us with meaningless prattle.

  • Simple answer,...the way the track was set up ....Going for thrill over safety ,....there will be, and should be a huge lawsuit over this, insigated by his Family.

  • @137paddy

Right, absolutely NO reason for those poles to be close to the track...AN ENGINEERING DISGRACE.
