While Apple is good with build quality, i will never buy a mac unless it's at a deep discount. I'm not paying 20%+ more for an aluminum unibody, and a fancy OS which i could simply use Chameleon to dual boot onto a PC with Windows 7.

Intel i7-720QM (1.6GHz - 2.8GHz)
6GB DDR 3 RAM
ATI Radeon 4830HD
500 GB 7200RPM HDD
1920x1080 Ultrabright Widescreen.
At the time a comparatively configured MacBook Pro was $2500, I paid $999.00 including shipping. I will concede that the MacBook Pro has slightly better build quality, but the HP has a higher resolution screen (1920 x 1080 vs 1680x1050). This video is an absolute joke.
um, why did you compare a 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo with an 1.6 ghz i7 720qm? you fail to take into account that the core 2 duo is a dual core and the i7 is a basically an 8 core. Another thing you didn't mention is that the i7 has turbo boost to 2.8 ghz. In other words, it uses 1.6 ghz when doing easy tasks like browsing and stuff to save battery life and can jump up to 2.8 ghz when it needs the power.
Envy is very cool, but I got the Macbook pro cause its more RELIABLE. FYI dont get a laptop to play games, trust me. Envy is great for non Mac users though. Just my 2 cents...

trends, that one is copying the other. Apple is a good company overall. It's not suprising these 2 laptops looks similar, as that is what people look for in an "elegant" of luxury laptop.
While Apple is good with build quality, i will never buy a mac unless it's at a deep discount. I'm not paying 20%+ more for an aluminum unibody, and a fancy OS which i could simply use Chameleon to dual boot onto a PC with Windows 7.
Linux is the same as OsX basically: good battery life, recourse efficient..

There was an article stating that cars will all eventually look 99% the same because they will be streamlines or aerodynamics. both laptops are meant to look streamlined and there are limited numbers of ways which that could be accomplished.
Both companies have to follow trends or they'll sink, just because 2 companies have products to appease these trend

I just had to comment on this. I purchased an HP Envy 15 in August 2010, here are the specs:
Intel i7-720QM (1.6GHz - 2.8GHz)
6GB DDR 3 RAM
ATI Radeon 4830HD
500 GB 7200RPM HDD
1920x1080 Ultrabright Widescreen.
At the time a comparatively configured MacBook Pro was $2500, I paid $999.00 including shipping. I will concede that the MacBook Pro has slightly better build quality, but the HP has a higher resolution screen (1920 x 1080 vs 1680x1050). This video is an absolute joke.

um, why did you compare a 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo with an 1.6 ghz i7 720qm? you fail to take into account that the core 2 duo is a dual core and the i7 is a basically an 8 core. Another thing you didn't mention is that the i7 has turbo boost to 2.8 ghz. In other words, it uses 1.6 ghz when doing easy tasks like browsing and stuff to save battery life and can jump up to 2.8 ghz when it needs the power.

Alright, first off, this review was SO biased, your trying to compare a macbook pro to an hp envy on your MAC and your trying to convince us that a mac KILLS a pc. Right off the back, you made the mistake of not even trying to use an envy first. You can't review a laptop without actually using it. I have used both and so have most of my friends and we all agree that the envy is so much better.

HP makes some decent laptops, and they are CHEAP so what not EVERYONE can afford a Mac, and the 14" price is $999 $150 less than a MacBook Pro. And by the way don't make a Mac v.s.
