This is only the beginning. Once this baby takes off, many other companies will get on board and the prices will drop dramatically. This car is a great idea and I admire the folks who had the balls to form a company and build this thing (usually such inventors get iced). But, I never like being the first to jump into a new technology. There were many who felt pretty foolish after buying the first iPhone.

The point of this car is its efficiency. It's "design" is based on inflexible principles, so if you want something for your tastes--look elsewhere.

The "lemon drop" design is based ENTIRELY on reducing aerodynamic drag--nothing else. Personally, I think it's a pretty slick looking vehicle, but that's just my opinion. I respect your opinion too.

To change the design of this car would mean sacrificing fuel efficiency. People who will buy this car care more about mpg than design. Obviously, you are more concerned about design. That's fine, just not me. Safety? Tests are forthcoming.We'll have to wait.

It looks like the old Jetson's cartoon. Very often concept cars try to be different looking to the point of outlandishness. Actually it would be more 'aerodynamic' with considerable less drag if the design were reverse with the point in the front and the bubble in the back.

Also, according to my spreadsheet, your 18k 60mpg car (which doesn't exist in America) will still cost more per month if you include gas and monthly payments. Petrol prices over here are £1.05 per LITRE of unleaded petrol. This is almost £4.70 a gallon and would soon go up and up.

In some garages, it's £1.09 (or more) per LITRE. Yes, per litre.

I have only made one trip this year where I would not have the range of the Aptera. Being I make biodiesel I would like to see an aptera with a BD engine. I read on their site that they cant include a diesel because of NOX. Too bad they must not be into BD, else they would see BD is better for the environment than gas.

Keep up the great work. I love how at 3/4 view it looks like its floating in the rear. Just wish it had a trunk worth noting.

I constantly remind everyone I meet that there are two facts of driving any vehicle.

(1)They are by default, inherently dangerous.

(2)There will always be something bigger than what you are driving, to run into.

AFAIK, it comes in two models: plug-in hybrid and all electric.  The all electric model comes out first.
