@muzikrehberinettc Geraldo Pino was born on 10 February 1939 and died on 10 November 2008 at the age of 69. Born and raised as Gerald Pine in Freetown, Sierra Leone to a Nigeria-based lawyer and lost his mother and sister at an early age. Changed name to Geraldo Pino to sound more exotic due to his love for Congolese rumba and Latin American music. Lived and played mostly in Sierra Leone in the early and mid 60s, but returned to Nigeria in 1969. Had cancer and diabetes before his death.
1998 my wife and me (Canadian/German) got married in Port Harcourt. And guess what, we had the man playing at our wedding. Together with that Albino girl (Ibi?). She was later on African Idols. He was great. Saw him many times in Nigeria.
Geraldo Pino formed the "Heartbeats" with Dr Dynamite(Balogun Johnson Williams )in Freetown back in the sixties.Gerald Pine(GERALDO PINO)apparently broke up with the "Heartbeats" over money matters before leaving for Nigeria."Gimme Bombolo" is another classic hit from the "Heartbeats".
