Latinos we need to unite, I see a lot of hatred in this fucking country among us. Cubans think they are better than Boricuas, Boricuas think they are better than Dominican, Mexicans are fucking racist against blacks, south americans are new to the states and already acting like morons...
@77musica get the fuck outta here! Mexicans racist against blacks? nah! it's the other way around, yet blacks and whites commit the most hate-race related crimes in America.
You really need to give the background of each group. Example Dominicans & Puerto Ricans are different but have similarites as well. However Dominicans & Mexicans are very different. Argentinians & Peruvians are different. How about the story of the Afro Latinos as well U have Afro Dominicans which represents 80% of the population. YOu got Afro Cubans U got Afro Puerto Ricans. You also have indigenous stories as well & the Mestizo stories. It would take like a 20 part series & serious reporting
2nd I mean the Spanish were first in North America they settled Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, California. However the Indigenous ancestors have been here 10,000 years and not just 400 plus years and became Mexican citizens and some intermarried with the Spanish and share a rich tradition English, German or even Irish were actually the last to come to the Americas. 1rst English Colony was established in 1607. Soledad needs to read the history books b4 she reports.
You know their is gonna be Latino in America and the problem is that Mexican are the majority and have been here even b4 the Germans, Jews & Irish. Why do u think their are so many Spanish Towns like San Diego, San Antonio, Los Angeles and States. Spanish first in Americas is she stupid? I need to introduce America to the wonderful music, food and sport our culture has brought to the American mix, just as previous immigrant groups -- the Germans, Jews or Irish -- did before Latinos.
Even Zoe Saldana said - Whenever she goes to the Dominican Republic, the press asks her if she American or Dominican. She says she is a mujer negra, a black woman. When they tell her no, she is trigueñita, light brown, she answers, “I am a black woman.” Zoe is not in denial of who she is or where her roots come from. Even Puerto Ricans like Tego Calderon is open about his ancestry and his roots while others try to hide or deny it. Afro Cubans also are in touch with their roots & celebrate it.
Latino in America are the Garcias in denial of their roots? In the part of the interview in the video he states that they may even be thought to be African American. They live in America & they do have African roots it is easy to see. What is he trying to say with this statement? We are not those people? Really time for a self examination or reality check. Another part is where the kid says I don't like being called Mexican.I guess he is talking about all the indigenous & Mestizos who work hard
Latino in America interview What I don't understand is why Soledad O'Brien didn't challenge the Garcia father since her mother is Afro Cuban & she knows that the couple is predominantly of African decent. I felt that was a big mistake. Also that she did not talk more about Afro Latinos because she had a great opportunity to do so.
Ok just to add more credibility to what I have said listen to this if you under stand Spanish I will also translate for you both in English & Spanish in the comment section of the youtube video. Why is it that Antonio Banderas Penolope Cruz who R Spanish get mistaken

Why because Latino has a typical look I read where Lala Vasquez who doesn't even say here name correctly was stating that she would not be consider for the typical Latina parts Well their is a reason for that she is not a typical Latina Zoe Saldana made the same statement It is crazy
Latin is a Lenguage that originated in Europe Italy to be precise. This is why Latinos have European traits & share similar genetic features. I guess to put it simple a Latino could go to Spain, Portugal or Italy and be mistaken for a citizen due similar features. Example Sofia Vergara She could go to Italy, Spain or Portugal and blend in quite easy. Now if Sammy Sosa or David Ortiz went they would think he is African even Rosario Dawson or Zoe Saldana would be classified as African.
Latinos came from Italy and established their presence in the Iberian peninsula. If you look at a old Roman maps they called Spain Roman Hispania If you take Italian and move around the letters you get Latin the language spoke by many of Romans territories. Romantico is derived from Roman and in English is Romance.

I think Bob is more a product of NYC culture than anything else. Not to say that he should not embrace his PR heritage, but let's be honest, if you grow up in NYC, you are exposed to all cultures. Unfortunately for you, I am not a racist. I am not angry, I am strong. I am Hispanic and one of my role models happens to be white. In fact he had a large role in raising me.
message to me by mbt416. When a white person talks truth about minorities they are often marginalized and labeled as racist, which is EXACTLY what you did. This is "the truth"
Are you looking for me to apologize for Manifest Destiny? bwwhaahaa
Entitlements are rampant among minority communities, this is a fact and can be found on many government websites. The "truth" is on my side, agrade.
You really should calm down. I am scared you are gonna go on a shooting rampage with how angry you obviously are. You say that entitelement is rampant in minority communities and for me to find it. But since you are the one trying to convince me of this, why don't you back up your own argument and prove it yourself. I can't find anything that proves this. Entitelment? It was once illegal in the U.S. to teach blacks to read and write, and then only for slaves to learn. That has had lasting effect
I just feel really bad for upsetting you. I am simply expressing myself and don't want you to feel as if I am trying to force you to see things my way. If you hate minorities than you have the right to do so. I study civil liberties; it sure isn't illegal to express hate for people so long as you don't try to hurt them. So if you see a Hispanic female somewhere, please do not take your anger out on her bacause of me. Why can't we all just get along!? Agradecido= Thankful in English.

Little Known Fact: There are millions more poor White people in American than in either the Black or Hispanic community combined.
In other words, its not race, it's socio-economics. The most forgotten about people in America are the poor White people. How many times have you seen someone stick up for them? Hmm?
Do you know what the premise of the these documentaries? Most people know the history of whites, and they are not just focusing on the poor. My suggestion to you would be is take a class in African American, Latino, and Asian studies or find a book in the public library to enhance your understanding and learning about people of color. Most people are probably aware that poverty comes in all colors. So please think before you write.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I said "it's not race, it's socio-economics", apparently you are unaware of the meaning of this term.
I hardly need a lesson from you. I also clearly state that poverty does "come in all colors", but I am also true when I say that there are millions more White's in poverty, and their plight is entirely ignored by the media and charity, so, in my estimation, they are perhaps the most forgotten about, and not cared for, segment of the American public. Thank you.
MTB 416, no I don't think you understand what airjor1 is saying. Your main point was that people should ignore documentaries like this because they are sob stories for colored people. airjor1 was letting you know that this documentary is so much more and not some plea for welfare. Of course you did not say it in those terms but you meant it. I agree, think before you write.
mtb416 sent me a reply including this" My family came here in the earlier Colonial days when you either took care of yourself or you died, entitlements did not exist in the 1700's." Well as a Latino in America, I can tell you that Europeans did indeed believe in entitlement; mainly Spanish, French, Dutch, and especially English. I have Native American great grandparents. This was their land and Europeans killed to steal it away. Don;t tell me about your colonial family and entitelment.
Please do not bring up history if you do not want the truth. Latinos from Latin America are not looking for entitlement. They are looking for opportunity. There is a difference. They are not committing genocide like Europeans did to Native Americans in the colonial days you speak of. You talk about your family coming here, but don't you understand that they were immigrants too?
I am so sorry. I thank you for taking the time to respond and trying to educate ignorant people like mtb416. Unfortunately some will never see anything but only through a racist and imperialist viewpoint.
Puerto Ricans and other nationalities borrow from African American culture because its more profitable, more marketable, and more acceptable in the eyes of the media.
I understand that everybody borrows from everybody and this video is a perfect example of the comment that I made a week ago. A non-black person who has benefited from black culture. Unlike Europe, a large majority of music that producers here in the US sample comes from BLACK singers from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Latinos we need to unite, I see a lot of hatred in this fucking country among us. Cubans think they are better than Boricuas, Boricuas think they are better than Dominican, Mexicans are fucking racist against blacks, south americans are new to the states and already acting like morons...

Puerto Ricans and other nationalities borrow from African American culture because its more profitable, more marketable, and more acceptable in the eyes of the media.

everyone borrows from everyone yo. rap producers constantly sample and remix old tunes from white ppl here and in europe and make it their own.

I understand that everybody borrows from everybody and this video is a perfect example of the comment that I made a week ago. A non-black person who has benefited from black culture. Unlike Europe, a large majority of music that producers here in the US sample comes from BLACK singers from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Very nice, thats cool that Bobbito mixed Latin and Hip-Hop music togther. Thats basically how reggaeton came to be.
I think thats very cool that he embraced his Puerto Rican heritage, and it is truth that alot of PR have African heritage as well.
