  • Clearly Johnny Ball is a bit out of his depth here, but I totally agree with him in supporting nuclear energy.

  • Are you kidding me? it is vary rare that you find a science teacher even TRYING to teach creation science, and your saying that it's common?isn't that stretching the truth a little bit?the last thing they WANT you to believe in is a creator, evolution has NEVER been proven as fact, yet they still teach it like it has been.the existence of a higher power CANNOT be found through science, one would think a higher power would be beyond our current idea of science.

  • @FredFan8 A species changing over time to suit a changing environment has been observed and is fact, there are then theories that aim to understand the mechanism that drives these facts, we have various theories of gravitation yet i am sure you don't doubt the existence of gravity!

  • Poor Johnny Ball. He introduced a lot of kids to science in the '70s, including me, but he's dead wrong on climate change. Science is about accepting the facts even if they tell you something you would rather wasn't true.

  • @brochan11 yet you have little evidence to support your theories, the whole climate change movement just supports the oil (and motor/aviation/ industries who are at the forefront of that tech, just believe the propaganda!!

  • @ThePaddypower15 Sorry mate you've got that backwards. It's the climate deniers that support the oil and motor industries.

Oil is going to run out in the next few decades, so it doesn't matter if climate change is true or not. We have to develop new energy sources now so that we don't have a gap between oil running out and new energy sources coming online.

  • 'your children aren't children anymore' ha ha I've wondered this for a while; does Alistair dye his eyebrows???

  • johnny for number 10 and 11

  • Good one Johnny! Squashed those crooked politicians! I have to say, if he was still doing children's TV A: I'd still be watching it & B: Our children would be better informed

  • @warspyte Your children would be fools that base their understanding of the universe on what they want to believe rather then what all the evidence says, they would be blissful but disgustingly ignorant, much like this man

  • @yunged Please get your facts right, there is overwhelming evidence that co2 (a basic building block of life) is not responsible. I suggest you stop wasting your time being unnecessarily rude & go and research the subject for yourself, If you listen to mainstream opinion all you will get is propaganda seek the real facts!

  • @warspyte There is a lot of Co2 (basic building block of life) in venus's atmosphere, you know the planet that is further away from the sun then the earth but has a temperature of 464 °C due to the incredible greenhouse effect....

  • @yunged If that's the best science you can throw at me, I see no reason to continue this dialogue

  • @warspyte Then you are a fool so i agree...

  • @yunged Welcome to my ignore list Troll

  • @warspyte I've never understood this new internet fad of calling people that disagree with you a 'troll'

I give you a perfect example of Co2 in an atmosphere leading to huge temperature rise and your answer was to call an end to the debate, you are not just wrong you are an intellectual coward as are most of the people on your side, you have picked politics over science and reason and that is just ridiculous!

  • Politicians always want us to believe that things are getting worse.

They want us to blame government. They want us to demand that government does something about it. They want us to expect governments to sort things out for them.

Because, in that act, we surrender power to them.

If we all turned around and said "no thanks, we can sort these issues out ourselves without your assistance" - well, that's every politician's greatest nightmare, as they become redundant, pointless and powerless.

  • @KlaxonCow Bullshit. In America, the right-wing politicians do as much as they can to deny that climate change is happening.

Let's not be religious about this and carefully examine the facts. As far as I can make out, those who are experts in the field feel that it is likely man-made climate change is having an effect. I think we should do something about it and, hey, if we are wrong, then we will be left with clean, sustainable energy. Don't see much wrong with that.

  • Always loved Johnny Ball as a kid – he knew how to communicate and to teach science to young people.

Global warming myth is just left-wing propaganda not education. And they have the nerve to complain about religion being the same! Hypocrites as always.

  • think of a number. who on this panel do you trust. well done johnny.

  • Let's face it a lot of school/university texts are politically biased.

On the whole renewable vs nuclear issue, don't be misled into thinking there are only two options. Just one other option is building housing designed to minimize energy needs in the first place. Check out Passivhaus design's or the documentary on YT Garbage Warrior. These house designs store the energy of the sun during the day and release it at night and work in extreme cold and heat.

  • The host's wig is ridiculous

  • @MrSyrett Weave him alone! I think he's fed up with tyour constant wigging. I know for a fact he has to pee 10 times a day due to living in a DODGY area of BARNET.

  • Once you have the facts, you then have to process them, ie answer the question "what do these facts mean?". Teaching facts in isolation leads to learning by rote. My two year old son could name around 30 capital cities but he had no idea what a "capital" or a "city" were. He knew the facts - Paris is the capital of France - but he had no idea what any of this meant. Facts are the starting point, but anyone can learn facts, the real test of intelligence is how you process them.

  • 'I didn't publish the text book by the way' - We know mate. You don't have the brains to publish the text book!

  • lovely brave man...

  • I learned from him as a kid, and he's still just as relevant!

  • Can't say I disagree with the vast majority of what he says. However while Darling and Hammond do not have science degrees, nor does Johnny Ball.

That said, he's definitely right about wind farms.

  • "it has to start in europe, because thats where all the dictates come from"

-cant have you saying THAT on the BBC jonhnny. what were you thinking?

the people arent supposed to know that!

  • Well done Johnny Ball, your on to something.

  • "The lunatic energy policy thrust upon us by politicians" Like Fukushima?

  • johnny ball vs slimy reptillian politicians and a tv presenter...johnny is the man from his early 80's kids chemistry sets to this day when he's bringing the ruckus to all these muthaf****as. I heard there trying to shut him down cause of this clip--he is being troubled and his character is being assasinated by the media (who create and support all this fear mongering going on)... go on johnny ball do what real G's do and bring the real.peace.

  • Johnny Ball, he was a top bloke years ago, and still a top bloke today ! I vote him for Prime Minister, lets get some truth back out there !... and you know he is so correct, the money it takes to build wind farms far outweighs the electricity they generate.... Its so good to see so called ministers slapped with the truth and watch them cringe... Well done Johnny !! 10/10

  • Go'on yersel' Johnny - Get it right up them!

  • Oh boy! I can't believe I hear all this coming from the UK.

  • I do adore Johnny Ball, like i adore a stubborn old uncle who has the spirit right by distrusting politicians, but gets it wrong. But we'll agree to disagree here, but i think its because i was techno optimistic when i was younger, and have grown up since. Markets and science wont solve all our problems. Neither will Ballisms against subsidies, politicians and europe .

People are pretty brave to stand up against climate commonsense, shouldnt be demonised but heard and respected.

  • On a related topic: The Guardian and Mail recently reported a hate campaign against Johnny - in part inspired by a video entitled 'Johnny Ball Climate Denier' by sharonf1000 and her 'Voyage' blog.

I was glad to see she has removed the offensively titled video - but she still lambasts JB as a 'denier' in her blog. In another post she criticises use of the word 'retard' since she has a autistic child. But it's fine to call Johnny a 'silly old Denier'. Sharonf 1000 = Hypocrite.

  • Hammond is lying thru his teeth when he says 'wind doesn't receive subsidies'. UK 'renewable obligation certificates' and 'Feed-in-tariff' schemes guarantee parasitic wind subsidy farmers will get 4-to-7 times market rates for their intermittent, unreilable outputs - guaranteed for 25 years. Inflicting ever increasing bills on the poor and exporting UK jobs to China. All so our bunch of lying politicians can showboat and make ridiculous claims to be 'saving the planet'. Lying filth.

  • "Stop wind immediately!" says denier blowhard.

Is there a pattern here? An afflication of ageing rich white male TV presenters like Sissons, Bellamy and Ball?

And what the hell is the BBC doing inviting this wacko on...?

  • Go johnny.. go go go!!

  • @wids67 hahaha..no doubt.

  • I don't believe that proposed "green solutions" are going to work plus they'll be very expensive to boot, BUT... It seems likely that we are increasing the all be it small amount of CO2 in the air. So any impact that could have needs close attention.

There is pretty solid scientific basis that increased CO2 will increase earth's temperature. Trouble is we don't know by how much. We should therefore try to find a way to err on the side of caution. Saying "everthing is rosy" is a bad idea.

  • Mr ball what a great man.

The facts are that most of what children are told in school is utter Bollocks from science to history If teachers were allowed to teach and not told what to teach we would have some very smart children but we dont want that do we lol

fucking politicians what odious creatures they are, the great jonny ball must have had to scrub hes self off after sitting next to those slippery twats

  • From Los Angeles CA, G_d bless Mr. Ball.

  • YES! Damn right, its about time those O-level educated children's TV personalities put those STOOPID old extensively trained and informed climatologists in their place!

  • the key is which bank (private bank I'll add) do all carbon taxes have to pass through? It's in Switzerland and owned by the family with the most....hint: starts with an R. Follow the money every time and you'll find the reason for the propaganda.

  • Well done Johnny. Now you just need a bit more understanding of why we're being lied to about climate change.

  • Just what we have suspected for years now but the politicians will have to work out how they can alternativley screw money out of us if they drop the "green" taxation.

Well said Johnny but be careful now as you will be classed as an "enemy of the state". Check your car thoroughly before driving off cos' they are experts in "accident causation". (RIP Diana)

  • The man has the Balls and the Brains to speak out, good on him.Darling and his lacky don't know what they're on about, you can see it from the way they shut up when the MAN speaks, that they haven't got their script writers with them.

  • GO JOHNNY GO!!!!Be safe, the rat next to you didn't look to happy.

  • @74DrJB I assume that you are the only one who has so far given a thumbs down. I think it's fair to say that it's you who is confused, yes?

  • What a great man. Knight him. EUROPE Trash keep out of England. WE DON'T WANT YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Go Johnny! A Legend.

  • Johnny Ball is a living legend! Eat dirt EU!

  • Johnny Ball was my favourite childrens presenter, it would be great to have a teacher like him, honest and exciting!

  • Good on him. The only thing I would add, is that he gave the impression that our material wealth - and the growth of it - is a good thing. And it could be... BUT he failed to mention the immense suffering and destruction that is caused to manufacture that mobile phone he was holding up. Research the Congo/Cell phone company connection

  • @youniverse9 Deformed babies and whatever else is the fault of the Africans who are allowing it. Honest phone companies, governed by law who are simply looking for the best deal on metals can always go somewhere else. They are not the cause, it is those state-run monopolies in backwards Africa. Cheers

  • @snakeinthegrass20 Well said!!

  • @snakeinthegrass20

Not talking about deformed babies. And agreed on the backward nature of pretty much all governments in Africa. I'm referring more to the conflict in places such as the Congo, which are directly caused by the phone companies mining their natural metals. The horrors that go on there for the sake of having control of these mines is mind blowing. The companies know about it... but they still carry on. I seriously recommend you look into it. Google 'Congo' and you'll find loads

  • Johnny Ball is brilliant!

And a Brave man for taking on the globalists.

  • When Gordon brown was in power he was obsessed with pushing this man-made global warming nonsense. He spent a fortune (more then 12 million£ on misleading C02 adverts to keep everyone in fear.)

He was also obsessed with bringing in the new world order. (there is a link between these two topics)

    Gordon Brown NWO speech

    /watch?v=Uv5cqh26CC0

  • thank you for that.xxx

  • This guy got me interested in science, he taught me so much, and i still to this day love science and it's problems. Most people are fully aware human induced global warming was a scam, we also know the re branded version human induced climate change is a scam too. When will the idiots in power wake up and do something about it. The climate has been changing since the earth was formed, it has next to nothing to do with humans. We do have issues to sort, but we are looking the wrong way.

  • @eyeswideopennimrod

The "idiots in power" won't change because they are behind it.

Climate change/global warming is not about saving the world - it's about imprisoning the human race and installing a "green tax" to make the rich, richer.

  • @SteveFusionX Yep, and people are finally waking up to it. We need to keep an eye out for Johnny, as people often have accidents when they cross the elite and there plans. We are part of a mass awakening of people around the world. :) Peace

  • Johnny Ball's a legend!

Such a shame the textbooks are full of environmentalist (in the pejorative sense) gloom and doom when air and water quality is steadily improving, by and large.

This carbon tax nonsense is an absolute scam too!

  • We are entering a new dark age of Post-normal science and Post-normal philosophy. They point out in the video that textbooks in China probably don't contain these kind of wilful distortions. As a result they can and will overtake the West if , for no other reason, because at least when it comes to science they are being taught the value of truth and the facts.

I'm frankly terrified of what the coming generations in the UK will augur with such purposefully dire education.

  • The systematic lying to children by the so-called education system is probably the most evil thing about our society today.

  • 0:23 - "BBC impartiality"!!!!!!!

Yeah, right!! The BBC has been the mouthpiece for climate armageddon in th UK for longer than I can remember. They actually spend a fortune in licence payers' money promoting man-made global warming and trashing anyone who dares to speak out (3 programmes in the last month alone).

Google "BBC pension fund" and "climate change " together and see where their real interests lie.

  • Johnny Ball will be attacked by the sodomite jesus haters soon. they will dig up something from his past or speak to the village he lives in to find some dirt on him.

  • Im so glad you put this vid up, our kids are being mislead . .

Political Propaganda. pure and simple .

both puppet Politicians distance themselves for the text book very Quickly .

What a waste of good space they both are ..

    Peace

  • He knows what he's talking about. Good stuff.

  • This is the Orwellian version of the Green Revolution. A New Green Religion to make the middle classes happy that the banksters stole all there wealth just to reduce their carbon footprints. Idiots, can't you see who the government is really working for?

  • SORT OUT THE SUBSIDIES NOW!!!!

  • Make J Ball the next environment Minister. He will put this thing to rights. Unfortunately he would be a target for the Whitehall "hit squad".

  • Engage with the problems, greening motoring.

    Professional bullshitting.

  • man made global warming is a scam?? figures. everything else is why not ?

  • 4%. Do the maths.

    1/25

    0.04

    Should we trust them?

  • Well said Johnny Ball!

Most sensible people realise that the whole climate change issue revolves around increasing taxation.

  • Johnny is on the ball!

  • Did you hear about the homosexual electron?

    Went around blowing fuses.

  • I have actually have studied with this book.

I thought it had a political motive.

  • @MrGilles1990

I wish I was as young as you.

Then again I wish I was as young as you and still received the imperfect education that I did.

Flawed as my education may have been (leaving after 'O' levels) even with hindsight I can't recall political BS.

But most of all I wish I was as young as you.

  • Jonny Ball. I remember hom as a kid.. He made science fun. Good to see him puttiing those deceiptful politicians in their place. With facts.

... and listen to Darling whine... lol.
