Of the TASER related deaths, TASER has never been ruled as the cause of death but all have showed elevated heart rates caused by the introduction of drugs or other substances as the cause of death. Not true. The taser, at least in what UCSF researchers have found in their studies, shoots pulses several times per second and those pulses can actually overtake the heart and can cause a heart rate that's 250-300 beats per minute. The weapon should be used more judiciously and labeled as potentially lethal rather than non-lethal.

And it's not just that people are hung up on a mere name, but labeling does matter. It matters because it leads, for example, officers to use it carelessly because they are under the impression that no real harm can arise from it. This is why there was a controversial story recently of an officer who tased an elderly woman simply because she was being annoying. No one is saying to not use deadly weapons as they already do (guns) but to simply use them judiciously.

I have heard 2 say that they disagree on how this rook place it was nonsense for the man did not threaten the officer by pullling a weapon on him so this should not have happened. Also they say in training the officers get one second of the taser this is not enough when they are tasing for more than that. Therefore how can they say it is not lethal? It is very lethal when they are tasing more than once!
