  • politician is rhetoric scum

  • Comment removed

  • You can tell who the creationists are in the audience - the only ones not laughing at Dawkins funny comments.

  • Just a quick remark to the uploader: Thank you very much for the Links in the description, It's so helpful, yet nobody does it :x

  • Isn't it interesting that the only panelist introduced as "outspoken" is Richard Dawkins.

  • @ghostframer Watch the same programmes' debate on global warming, the host is very skilled at demoting and admonishing the non-mainstream panel members. LoL the global warming debate made me so angry I wanted to punch my computer in lieu of various panel members faces =P

  • God is just a label for 'questions we don't have an answer for'. If that one guy at the start just said "I don't know." I don't think we would have religion in the first place.

  • I love Dawkins dishing out ridicule on these creationists

  • just answer the fucking question!

  • im a christian (through baptism) yet i think stronger christians than me who believe in both creationism and science should stop demoting God to ever more menial roles in the origin of the universe ( 6:15 , he went from creating the world to starting the big bang??) just leave it be.

  • I've come to the conclusion that Fielding was created from an outback stump!

  • People will come to their own conclusions... so that Steve Fielding doesn't have to!

  • Intelligent Design was not discussed? That just seems like the creationist cop out.

  • The Australian guy is an idiot ?.....but it's an Australian program, Richard Dawkins is the only non Australian there, but yeah, Religion will make you believe strange things

  • the audience is rly rude lol they laugh at every little thing.

  • Is this supposed to be comedy? the australian guy is an absolute idiot

  • In the 1880's the argument against evolution was that the earth was only ~100 thousand years old.

How can something be 'truth' when science is likely to evolve and then show that at that point in time we were wrong?

I don't believe in religion and I don't believe science. I don't believe in fucking anything. It baffles me what 'truth' really is and how science proves anything.

Those people laughing are fairly disrespectful. It isn't that shocking that people believe in something.

  • What's the difference between a creationist and a politician? Apparently, nothing!

  • Who needs God when you have Richard Dawkins!

  • Where was jesus, mohammed, etc 14 billion years ago...?

  • Gotta hand it to the Aussies. I love the atmosphere of this show. Lots of laughter and levity, even during serious debate.

  • Is there any other Australians here overwhelmingly embarrassed that there is a pollitician in office in this country that believes in creationism at it's fundamental description?

  • @seekhtruth @seekhtruth - You're lucky. Try being an American and having had Bush as your president for 8 years. You Ozzies will thank your lucky stars you have such reasonable religious crackpots for politicians.

  • @morpheusxnyc Touché

  • Politicians are full of shit...take a stand dammit

  • Oh look, a contradiction. Better ignore it LOL.

  • Also I think that Jackie articulated her opinion beautifully!

  • I thought that the point of Q and A was to actually 'answer' questions

  • wow thanks for sharing………………4.6 billion. whoa.

  • I view atheism as a shallow doctrine that can be summed up in 1 sentence: "God does not exist". Atheism is indeed that shallow. The doctrine rejects the possibilities of the supernaturals, i.e. it is strictly limited and bound by the natural realms. It must reject the supernatural yet offers no explanations whatsoever on the obvious components of human spirituality and the unknowns. Thus, theism in general and Christianity in particular are a far more superior doctrine than atheism.

  • @indoUSA

Atheism has not doctrine. To suggest that God = supernatural theorefore atheist MUST do something is not correct. There are many atheists that are spiritual. There are even Christian atheists. Please understand the difference between a relationship with god & the education of scriptures.

  • @indoUSA I view aunicornism as a shallow doctrine that can be summed up in 1 sentence: "unicorns do not exist". Aunicornism is indeed that shallow. The doctrine rejects the possibilities of the supernaturals

  • @indoUSA i.e. it is strictly limited and bound by the natural realms. It must reject the supernatural yet offers no explanations whatsoever on the obvious components of human spirituality and the unknowns. Thus, Unicorns in general and Pastafarianism in particular are a far more superior doctrine than aunicornism.

  • @Fenixx117 - Yes, human "spirituality" or tendency toward religious belief is addressed by Dawkins himself explaining that aspect of humanity's evolutionary biology as such: since homo sapiens having pattern seeking brains, it's only natural that we ascribe meaning to the unknown via our imagination, often tiems giving unknown forces agency UNTIL we figure out what the true cause is. Then we grow in our knowledge.

We once thought the Sun was god, too, but not any more. Yahweh/Jesus are next up.

  • can anyone prove how souls get to heaven since enrgy cannot come from nothing an wheres hell you cant see it its magma under the earths crust youcant see it hear it sniff it so it dosent exist

  • @59spore

Pre Constantine heaven & hell meant a personal mental state. Bliss or torment. Post Constantine it mean a physical place. A heaven to die for & a hell to kill for.

  • e. Some among us might raise the question "How does this support the idea that God exsists?" Well, logic would tell you that something, what ever it may be began the process of evoultion that would eventually lead to the creation of mankind and his environment.

  • e. Some among us might ask "How does that support the idea that God exsists" well, something, what ever it may be, must of began the process that began evoultion, which eventually lead to the creation of mankind.

  • Yes, one can be a believer in God and a believer in evoultion. I am one of them. It is important to realise that the explanation offered by the Bible is one which was written before science could offer an explanation with crediable evidence. Now that science can offer an explanation of how Human Beings and indeed the world evolved, Christians must learn to accept the fact that God created the Universe not in seven days, but rather through a complex process that took millions of years to complet

  • In recent news, Steven Feilding just lost his seat in the Australian Senate to Greens candidate Richard Di Natale.

  • ..as usual, the "God of the Gaps" creeps in at every corner. By believing in that, the door is open for any supernatural being or phenomenon... 2,000 + years of indoctrination and power does make a difference, even with a totally illogical predicament...

  • here's the thing steve. you cannot not believe in facts.

  • @Zachdudeio2 : Crazy how religious people cannot - or simply don't want to - seem to grasp that, uh...?

  • @bersa888

Because it's not true. Most non-religious people realize this as well. See my comment to Zachdudeio2.

  • @Zachdudeio2

Knowledge is constituted by a certain set of beliefs. In my view, it's at least constituted by (empirically, logically or philosophically) justified and true beliefs (though there might be more to it than that, these things are at least necessary for that we call knowledge). So to say that one cannot believe in facts is absolutely ridiculous since we can *know* about facts.

Oh, and before you start shooting down straw men, I should point out that I'm an atheist.

  • Creationists are masters of circumventing words and answers. They will never be able to give a direct answer while someone with a bit of intelligence up their hand and knowledge of science and biology will not only answer directly but bring clear, proven references.

  • @ChaoticShelly Oh, but creationists will give a direct answer: covering their ears and sing "la la la".

  • @ChaoticShelly I don't know about 'masters' but they're definately persistant (and frustrating).

  • look at this guy evade the question.... did it suddenly get hot in here?
