  • OMG GLOWSTONE IN REAL LIFE!

  • It's spelled "translucent," dawg

  • That's only translucency, not transparency.

  • what doesn't make sense is that concrete is used because it's so cheap, why would you use highly expensive resin or translucent cement which looks shitty instead of spending that money on steel structure with windows lol

  • This translucent effect is produced from the addition of fiberglass threads to the concrete mixture. but there is another material that is as strong as the concrete yet absolutely trasperant which is resin.

  • Will it allow only light, or does it allow liquid/water through? Are there holes in it, or some sort of transparent material shards in it?

  • I'm dirty minded.

  • its just got so much marble probably like 70% that it hast be be translucent ot teansparent watever.. same if i had 70% glass and 30% mud...same concept

  • They are talking danish!:D

  • maybe if all our roads were like this we could finally find jimmy hoffa

  • Okay, so both the top comments are it's translucent, then we prolly all know, so there is no need for EVERYONE to write it now... =.=

  • That's not cement, it's concrete!

  • even 2th grade can answer this,IT'S TRANSLUCENT!!

  • @MrIrfan8277 IM SURE U MEAN 2ND NOT 2TH

  • obviously it's translucent but it is pretty cool

  • its not transparent. its translucent

  • Looks like a Dry Sponge bob to me

  • @RicoBanify ..LOL?

  • The best part about this video was when it showed the two wine glasses.

  • Love to do this for a mixed media piece...all encased in this acrylic...cooooooooool!

  • Does the light only pass through it 1 direction?

  • That not good for military discretion behind a translucide ciment wall xD

  • i see that in isntructables :P using optic fiber.

  • cement and glass fiber optics sliced with a diamond saw

  • I believe that would be translucent...

  • I believe that would be transparent...

  • look at the side of your hand, now open your eyes as much you can (just make big eyes) and hurray your hand is transparent ;P

  • It looks like a cement brownie.

You know what, i'd buy it.

  • Transparent is when you can see right through something, like glass or clingfilm

Translucent is what this cement is... Thats when something passes light through but you still cant see the other side

  • fiber optic

  • it has many cracks!

  • Translucement?

  • @LoveJune why do you sound like a geek because you said the word translucent? they teach you shit like that at 4 years old

  • nææ men dog :P en dansk snakkende person

  • The beginning of Transparacrete!!

  • get a patent on this one ! :D

  • its translucent. Wow i sound like a geek, but yeah its translucent. If it was transparent it would be soooo cool, you could just put it on the sidewalk and someone could just walk up and slam into it :D

  • @IoveJune Yea agreed. Translucent!

  • @IoveJune anyone who has been to school should know translucent there is nothing wrong with being smart!

  • @IoveJune there's always glass...

  • @benparkkk what do you mean?

  • @IoveJune Or we could make stairs that lead to the middle of the air and itll look like we're Jesus just floatin in the air and wave at people

  • @IoveJune ehhhhh, transparent is not synonymous with invisible.

  • @scienceman89

i never said it was invisible?

  • @IoveJune well, unless they're not paying attention, wouldn't it have to be invisible for them to walk into it?

  • @scienceman89 ehh, when you think about it, a lot of people run into poles and fire hydrants O__o

  • @IoveJune HMM, intersting. The only place I have ever seen that is in old black and white comedies, and also in things like Just for Laughs Gags.

  • Gud hvor skægt - så sidder man og ser en tysk video af en magnet, og så finder man en dansk video med en sten :b (eller hvad det nu er...)

  • Jahh ! ... En dankser!

  • it could be reallyl cooolll.... a brick filled with tiny micro or nano sized holes... but not very effecient in terms of constructing houses... too inconvenient...lol unless for indoor walls or decorations...yeppp

  • Yes. It's concrete indeed.

It's official name is (mirror translate from its hungarian name: üvegbeton) glass concrete. It was invented by a hungarian man.

  • That is not cement! Cement is a powder. That is concrete.

It is like saying flour instead of bread.

  • this is translucid, transparent it is another thing

  • transparent lets u see in detail ... translucent means light passes through but not alot

  • Technically the cement itself isn't transparent no? Its fiber optics imbedded in cement only minorly structurally weakening, but allowing light to travel through 'the fiber optics' NOT the cement? Just saying, it doesn't seem all that special or innovative...

  • any one got a formula for that --?? thanks

  • yeah, a 40 lb. bag of concrete, and some 10 lb. test fishing line

  • yeah..i tried it works.HAHA

  • oh,,, and water.

  • who cares

  • it's just a block with holes through it, might aswell call a window a transparent window

  • Nope

  • this material is only a fraction weaker then traditional cement, made with a different mix of the same basic stuff with fiber optic material in there with it, which is what allows the 'transparency' look it up you comment n00bs.

  • It is not transparent it is opaque.

  • its not opaque, its translucid.

    transparent-lets all light pass through

translucid-absorves and deflects most of the light

    opaque-absorves/deflects all the light

you could see light going through it couldnt'ya?

    then its translucid

  • translucid or translucent?

  • @recoome219 i dot understad this its kinda confusig so there are holes in it

  • lol smartass

  • i wonder how useful it would be against the elements

  • its not actually transparent but it does let light through...not bad cheers

  • transparent no, porous YES

  • the link had a virus

  • what a big deal if its transparent or its translucent ?? all of u know english so good? yea right... u all know what is what on ur language and shut up! bwt it looks cool for me

  • Oh, the irony.

  • surly the cement is translucent as opposed to transparent

  • surely you understand that no object can actually fit the definition of 'transparent' and that it's a subjective term.

  • Glass is transparent, this cement is translucent.

  • Glass is translucent. Go find a large block of glass and look through it.

  • You have your definitions wrong. Transparent means all light passes through, and thus you can see everything. Translucent means some light goes through, so you can see shadows, but not whole figures.

  • JoeJoeTater.....I agree with you this block is translucent for year i keep telling the FBI we have transparent aliens on earth and they don't believe me....Can you help, Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • This is a Hungarian thing. One multi-company is try steal this, but is unfortunately. :) Viva Hungarian things...:D

  • Isn't the cement translucent, not transparent?

  • you mix cement with glass and you can see shadows through it. i saw it in a magazine once.

  • There could be many creative architectual possibilities with this material. One might be to admit sunlight into a building space where windows are not practical either because of security or privacy issues. Also, they would admit sunlight while not allowing the energy loss of traditional window glazing.

Imagine a walkway of this material with flood lights underneath!

  • Cool its in danish, i understand wat they r saying ^^

  • dirty glass

  • Is it stable?

  • it says so in the discription of the video. for gods sake, learn how to inform yourself.

it is almost as strong as the normal bricks.

  • Oh, ok then.

I'll pay more attention next time.

  • ROFL LOL... NO ONE ON EARTH would make cements with holes in them HAHAHA!! it would be ULTRa flimsy and ULTRA breakable. plus those are not holes. those are actually fiber optic crystals... it will distribute the force from one block/part of the cement to another part of the cement... so really those "crystals" are just force transferees and just there so the cement building wont colaps

  • Read. The. Description. Before. Commenting.

    Fucking seriously.

  • are you familiar with fact that cement is not an isolation material .. (but yes transparent isolation material is alredy developed its some kint of foam and exept wontherful bluish transparend shades it can protect against 2000c and have extrme termodinamic resistancei)

  • strength? purpose?

  • Having more light in your house, easy as that.

  • Strength? Same.

Purpose? Well, when throwing bricks at my neighbor's dog, it'd be very cool if the dog could see through the brick right before it hits its face and knocks the poor creature dead. No, really though, just imagine how easy it'd be to keep buildings warm and insulated with these things.

  • strength? purpose?

  • 什米?!

  • Actually this is "translucent," not transparent. Transparent is when all light can pass through like with glass. Translucent is when some light can pass through like with wax paper or this. Then "opaque" is when no night can pass through like a block of wood or a real cement block.

  • @JoeM2000 Yes and that is only for visual light. Our body is transparent or translucent in X-ray. And glass is not transparent in UV light. Everything is actually transparent, you just have to use the right wavelength. =)

  • ...um not, thats translucent not transparent...

  • Stupid ass presentation.

  • Concrete can be made from anything cement will bind to. Concrete marshmallows can be made but that has no structural gains. Yes, cement mixed with glass or clear plastics will produce this effect.

In laymen terms, the aggregate was clear and not the cement, hence the brick appears to be transparent. Ok, not so laymen. How about adding marbles to a cookie batch and calling it transparent cookies. I believe I reached all democraphics.

  • No it will not show this effect, when you´d make a cement out of glass, it would just be as gray, the galssparticles are so mixed with the cement, it wount be transculent.

  • Gee, I'll be sure to use these bricks for my bathroom walls.

  • that's more translucent than transparent but still cool

  • lame

  • There's probably glass in it.

  • looks tasty.

  • So they made some cement to see shadow figures behind it?

    Uh point of this?

  • to see people banging in bathrooms

  • ROFLLLL

  • u mean translucent?

  • Fiber Optics in the mix, just like the sidewalk at Disney...

  • it dosent look airtight

  • One step closer to transparent aluminum.

  • we can already create transparent aluminum, but it costs way to much to make. Ive seen some at QAL limited headquarters in Australia.

  • what is transparent aluminum?

  • aluminum is made from bauxite that has a crystalline structure, and although it is red and grainy from the soils it comes from, the more it is refined (take out impurities) the harder and more metallic it becomes. It is now possible to refine it so much that it is clear like glass, but it take quite allot of refining and heat energy to do it. so,it is too expensive, about $5000 per square centimeter or something like that.

  • Ok Scotty...LOL

  • I kept on scrolling down until I found a star trek joke... lol

  • this simply a block of cement with transperant

    tubes in it

  • this block of concrete definitely isnt strong enough to hold any load, for light to pass through the translucent material must be touch frm back to front, hence no sufficient inter-locking of the aggregates. but that being said, this is fuckin awesome!

  • pretty cool

  • This is concrete, not cement. Cement is the reactive powder that is used to make concrete.

  • water + cement = cement paste

water + cement + fine aggregates = mortar

water + cement +fine and coarse aggregates=concrete(portland cement concrete)

  • I don't think this kind of cement would be used to pave sidewalks, I think it would be mainly used as roof tile.

  • That's awesome. Very trippy.. but in that "makes you think" fashion and not the "Woah, dude we are all connected by our souls - I want a burrito" kinda way.

  • LOL! XD

  • "The website address on the video does not mean anything." Are you seriously expecting me to believe that comment?

  • Kind of looks like eutectic...

Hope the glass fibers have enough tensile strength to deal with loads

  • sobedragon your a retard concrete has like no tensile strength but it does have a high compressive strength

  • nano technology

  • im trippin off acid!

  • Translucent.

  • trippy as ever

  • is it cement with air holes in it, or is it a type of cement substance that is transparent?

  • the concrete is made by mixing glass fibers and crushed stone.

  • "The website address on the video does not mean anything."

    Uh huh.

  • that looks like a copyright notice which got turned into engrish upon translation.

  • THATS FREAKY
