  • Look @ PODUS bopping his head to FAMU..... Good job 100 !!!!!!

  • I have a small, but huge (in my case), favor to ask for anybody who marched for FAMU and experienced this; it's for a book that I'm writing. I just have two questions. Thanks...

  • The older daughter looked completely mesmerized. The younger, was probably pouting because earlier, she had been jumping around acting hyper and Michelle gave her "the look", and she immediately stopped. Now, nobody can't say that's not TRUE motherly discipline!! Lol!! #100STRONG

  • Neither Sahsa nor Malia seems impressed, and rightfully so. This is a big, sloppy mess. Everything about their marching is atrocious, from the horn swing,to the diagonals. They seems disorganized. Drum majors and others are looking around in front of the reviewing stand. I saw FAMU in the '93 and "97 inauguration parades and I was diapoointed. Southern was there, I was far more impressed with them to the point that I followed them on both occasions. FAMU is hype living on past laurels.

  • @MrOu83 FAMU "Marching 100" is the Best Band in the Land. They are not disorganized or looking around. They are communicating to each other, that's one of the things they show for their Summer Camps and Marching Band. Famu is NOT HYPE from past laurels! Most of you people are just hating. Southern is Nothing compare to FAMU. Plus, All of the Universities and even high schools try to Copy FAMU. That's why it's the "MOST IMITATED BAND IN THE WORLD"

  • @MrOu83 ...and where was "Southern" during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Parade? Wait...Lemme' answer that - Baton Rouge, sitting in front of the TV. - FAMUALLDAY

  • They have the best woodwindsssss

  • I'm just glad they didn't start dancing like the one in 97

  • sasha look like she soo bores and unamuzed

  • man if it wasnt the biggest band brawl afterwards

  • It never fails. For every youtube video displaying african or african american talent, there's a racist white punk's that must spew hatred. Well I guess we have to thank God for the haters as well to make us stronger.

  • I bet they have some SERIOUS phasing problems

  • dang his daughters look bored

  • his lill girls are amaze thts whats get it famu!!!!

  • 0:01 me cag0 en el

  • 00:13 : harg.... my ankle !!!!

    ;-)

  • To the person who exclaimed LSU band was the best. Why were they not chosen to represent the country? The proof is withstanding. Give represent when due.

    ASHAY

  • @dreedqueen Because at the time LSU Band was out for the season. Marching Season for LSU happens only during the fall. As for marching in the Inaugual, only a very few bands were chosen. Gramblin' State Marching Band was the band that was chosen to march in the Inaugual for Louisiana.

  • RIP Dr. Foster, I played under 2 of his former students....

  • man look at obama and his gang

  • R.I.P to the legend himself Doc. Williams P Foster. The originator of the '100!

  • I can't imagine people talking about MSU in the same breath as FAMU. I went to look at some MSU tape and they are a mediocre marching band. The sound decent, but they march in a sterile military style with fast powerful steps, but not much creativity. When they did the "Thriller" they had to put the instruments down and then do the dance separately. They couldn't play and dance at the same time. The MSU crowd loved it, but they have not seen FAMU or any other Black marching band.

  • @chessdrummer I'm sorry if this offends you, but here goes:

Black bands have perverted and destroyed marching band, and if I had my way, they'd either perform with some degree of professionalism or just be done altogether.

Marching band has military origins, and demands militaristic precision. Black bands have essentially thrown all of that away, and have reduced marching band to nothing more than clowns with hideous uniforms carrying instruments.

  • @mashdoctor Doesn't offend me, but it shows that you don't understand HBCU bands. I am more familiar with FAMU, so I will tell you that they are not just carrying instruments... they are incredibly talented musicians. I have heard members of the bands a different non-band events giving solos and playing for visiting groups and most are well-trained in music. You only see the showmanship. You want them to walk in lines and cut corners... well that's not Black marching bands are about.

  • @mashdoctor White people don't have talent !

  • @mashdoctor dude college marching band was created for entertainment to crowds at football games who knows nothing about music and what a marching band should and sound like. if you were to put a military band in front of a black audience i garuntee you they will not get much respect. people in general like to be entertained. just because its not perfect all the time doesnt mean its not good. you can still dance on the feild and still show musicianship and showmanship. this band has done it.

  • @mashdoctor Eww you OBVIOUSLY don't know what good quality music is. Core style marching bands are BEYOND boring. HBCU's on the other hand bring a colorful blend of music which to me most people enjoy being that FAMU has one of the most popular bands in the country, and didnt they do a halftime show in the Super Bowl? oh yeah please keep you ridiculous comments/opinions to yourself. You try marching 90 degree angles and pointing your toes.

  • rip wp Foster-

  • I BLEED ORANGE AND GREEN!! ALRIGHT FAMU MARCHING 100!! I see you!!!

  • LOL! Ok FAMU! I hear ya! Represent! Soundin Good!

  • about the drum major thing...my band director, an alumnus of FAM, told me it was part of "The Rules." For every 40 band members, you need a drum major...idk if he's right but it makes sense. 400+ band members and 10 drum majors...

  • @AlyssHeart013 Each drum major represents the number of presidents the university had.

  • @AlyssHeart013 He's correct 400 band members and 10 drum majors

  • Go FAMU!!!!!

  • wow FAMU marching 100 was a part of this historic day

  • FAMU BAYBEE!! enuff sed. tha best band n tha land

  • they a beast

  • why they dont have a dance team to go with their band because they sound amazing and i wanna go their but i wanna dance cause im a dance girl for williamson high school

  • Future member of this band in 2015

  • LMBO @dude who did a backflip and messed up his ankle 0:13....FAIL!

  • even though im into rap I play in a pepband and i cant get enough of it,

  • @mashdoctor

The colors of the uniform, orange and green, represent the citrus and the land from the state of Florida.

  • Woodwinds play fast.

    Brass play loud.

If you're interested in playing "Celebration" loud enough for people within a 3-mile radius can hear you, go brass.

If you are interested in playing 16th notes at 160 bpm, go woodwinds, they won't sound as dirty.

That being said, most marching bands are more interested in being loud and dark than technical and reedy, so generally brass is more important than woodwinds.

  • The President looks so much younger here. Well, I guess waging imperialist war in the Middle East does stress you out more.

  • Good performance but, Hamptons signed sealed delivered was a much better arrangement

  • no they do not

  • LMAO man wait one min let me get back in my chair. The fact that The Marching 100 has probably been more places and done more then MSU alone speak Volumes. But didn't they win the Sudler Trophy 3 years before yall. How many super Bowls? Man if i was to write all the things they have accomplish I would need 10 more comments so please that that MSU being the best band shit.

  • @SHINE912 LSU best band in the land...

  • @gormar21487 Since win? Who gave them that title? Please stand down with that LSU shit hell their not even the best in LA.

  • @gormar21487 WTF........First of all.....Alabama band better that yall...lol....and FAMU way better that yall....listen at yall..I bet they play Let Us Break Bread Better Than yall!!!!

  • @gormar21487 Pleeeze!

  • Woodwind(Picclo,Flutes,Clarinets) help balance out the sound in my OPINION and in some songs make a nice feature, they also as the dynamic sound. They are beautiful sound insturments and if use ring can be very powerful and stand out to an music ear.

  • Ok how stupid do YOU sound!?! Basically you're sayinq brass makes up majority of the brass?Sir, you sound so simple minded right now and woodwinds are really important as much as brass and percussion so PLEASE get your facts straight!

    p.s.

I feel bad for the band that had you as a drum major and I remember you saying no one can compare to the "Spartans" Ha southern can,Tsu,Bcc/Bcu,and Jackson state can,and you;re right they can't compare because the Spartans are like garbage!

  • This was for mashdoctor

  • do they have a drum major for each section is that why they have so many

  • They do not have a drum major for each section. They are the Presidential Ten, which represents the number of presidents that the University has had.

  • @patrat236 is FAMU going to ireland this year? Im in the University of Delaware Fightin Blue Hen marching band and us and UMass are going, want to know if another good band will join us

  • Unfortunately the Marching 100 will not make the trip to Ireland this year...maybe next time. They will be in Atlanta at the Honda battle of the bands on January 30th.

  • They have 10 Drum Majors for how many presidents the university has had.

  • @347826able as @SWDBASS said one Drum Major for each president the university ha had

  • Some say it's for the presidents, but for years they only had 8 and on rare occasion 9....but in all reality, the band is just that big, you need alot of manpower to help coordinate 400+ people.

  • @Melvin430 It is for the # of presidents, hence the presidential X(10) the 9th president of the university was short lived then they got a tenth a few years later but they were also(and most famously) known as the Eight Wonders of The World, Magnificent Seven, etc, etc

  • DUDE I CAN'T WAIT!!! I join the marching 100 next Fall!!! I'm sooo excited

  • Oh yes I've seen High Schools with better sound than "Spartans" &nd Famu has sound that is clean and sharp! Unlike those "Spartans" and uniforms are one thinq.Since you're not even in a band you need to keep your comments to yourself because obviously you don't know what the heck you're talking about. I'm sorry but I've never even heard of that school til you mention it and I had to watch videos of them...Also you can't even hear your woodwinds! But thats just my opinion so whatever

  • famu is a big ass fuckin band

  • Yeahhh...Spartans? no competiton for us they may be good in your mind but honestly they're not even that good

  • Well good for you that's your opinion, but not only can we play we will out perform them any day of the week. They will look like complete idiots attempting to match the Rattlers. Please believe.

  • Um, have you even seen the Spartan Marching Band? As great as you guys sound, the Spartan Marching Band sounds equally as good, if not more, AND they actually look professional. Whereas this band, and this is just one thing, straight lines seem to elude them.

  • I'm very familiar with the Spartan Marching Band they are good but we are the best!

  • Not really we played for President Clinton as well we are legendary...I'm a FAMU 1993 Rattler we will always be the band all others are measured by. Learn it!

  • Who are the Spartan Marching Band??? I'm being completely serious too.

  • Some Lamz...... from Michigan.

  • i am future member of 100

  • they sound Great but those uniforms have to go

  • DAMN....youtube accounts are like rectums; everyone has one and can post a comment. GaKuntryBoy...keep your "so called" realness. To be frank, it's not really real at all. Actually quiet BOGUS. Congratulations on posting a comment (cnt take that away from you) but you are now a statistic. You are officially one of the many delusional FAMU haters.

  • Greatest marching band in History !

  • ...did u watch the whole parade?....there where predominately white bands there also

  • imma be real with ya...some people dont need to ALWAYS act like they are so superior. I know GENERALLY SPEAKING ...FAMU has a great band and history.

but on the real.....some years ago I went to a battle of the bands here in Macon, GA where a small high school "Peach County GA"....they showed out on FAMU...Ft. Valley State University...and several other more popular high schools in attendance from Atlanta, Macon and Augusta. They out performed them all on that particular night, real shit.

  • That was the 3rd time that FAMU has been in an Inaugural Parade. Twice for Clinton and once for Obama...

  • where can i vind a video of them performing for clinton?

  • Notice the chief at 1:20 dancing in the saddle, tryin' to 'get his groove on'...Priceless..LOL. Go Rattlers!

  • Rich South marching band was down there 2

  • I was privileged to see them recently and they did a tribute to Michael Jackson that was phenomenal!

  • See you guys didn't get a chance to dance this year...lol

  • 10 Drum majors thats a lot for a band

  • There's a deeper meaning and a reason for the number of drum majors that we have.

  • Yea Yea 10 presidents...

  • I give it up to FAMU, they represented for all HBCU's during the inauguration! Those white folks out there were lovin' FAMU out there in the bitter cold. You see how in awe the President and his family were at their performance? Priceless!!!!

  • Man shut your ass up. What makes you think that FAMU rep'ed for all HBCUs? They had on FAMU colors, marched FAMUs style, and had FAMUs repetoire. I guarantee you if they got paid, they wouldn't have split the money with all the other HBCUs. Dummy.

  • @tallen87 WOW! Didn't know I pissed you off with my observations of what I saw. SMH @ THE MEATBALL!

  • @topdogg757 Man, first of all, you're a year late. . . .second, FAMU didn't "rep" for ALL HBCUs. UAPB was there, Howard was there, Hampton. . .just to name a few. So how can FAMU represent all HBCU bands if they weren't the only ones there?

  • @tallen87 I know that! I am referencing what I felt was a great performance from FAMU. Again, didn't know I pissed off A MEATBALL! Get a life!

  • Nah how bout at 1:03 the man with his mouth wide open is pricelesssss.....

  • We marched in the parade a few band back from yall!!!I'm from South Cobb High School in Austell,Ga.Look us up on youtube playing our Inaugural music.

  • obama like him sum fam lol

    great vid!!!

  • i was there

  • LoL, this is a NEVER ending band.

  • they killed it like they always do

  • GOOD SHOW...PICCOLOZ ALL THA WAY LIVE

  • Too many tubas to be thumpin' that hard. If u gone do it keep it in time.

  • they were obviously in a secluded area where the sound is going to bounce off the buildings. I'm sure the tubas did not mean to sound that loud. Its not there fault they are the biggest tuba section in the world :)

  • Not true, they were balanced however the closer they got to the mics the more you heard them. Notice around the time your heard them most is the same time you heard the wood winds.

  • they sounded good dont get me wrong. i love to hear tubas playin' out like that. its just that at a few times a few of them got out of time. even the drum majors noticed it in the beginning.

  • i was at da parade like damn, wen dey band gon end. yall 2 deep lol

  • I will give mad respect to ya'll cause I know it was a long ass week and ya'll still did the honda (D.O.A) >NCCU

  • Signed, Sealed, and Delivered

  • ninguna como la USC

  • silencio!!!!

  • We Represented as Usual!! BUT it was so COLD..and A lot of members were sick..then off to ATL...where we put our best foot forward dispite our circumstances!! I'm proud to be a Rattler!!

  • I forgot why we couldnt stop, I think its b/c of the illness of Kennedy

  • Cuz sumbody had a heart attack or a seizure that's why it was delayed and all that time wasted made them cut that part out of the parade.

  • Im mad that they didnt get funky and break it down for Obama eventhough they did it for Clinton.

  • What's the younger one's name? She always looks so unimpressed...too cute.

    FAMU, always killin 'em.

  • i have a question, what is the last song they played so beautiful..

  • "Singed, Sealed, Delivered" - Stevie Wonder

  • Its obvious that you are just talking to get attention.Pres.Obama doesnt pick and chose who attends at the parade. You have to apply like everyone else.If you dont like it why dont you become President and see how many ppl you piss off for something so small.

  • get it famu love ya

  • I'm a freshman on band and by the screen name i guess u can tell i play sax. FAMU has always been like my dream college. Does anyone know like how I can join their band?

  • go to their high school band camp

  • How is everyone on the planet supposed to know their history? Obama can't have EVERYONE. There were more hbcu's and h.s at this parade than any other in history. WTF were you watching? Nothing makes one black school historic over the other but you own mouth

  • No dissrespect but I feel that Obama should have had more historic black bands in his parade like FAMU, BCU Jones High School, Grambling, Booker T Washington High School, Tuskegee, Miami Carole, I'm just saying this is a big step in black history. Those schools I named went through hell in history and look at them now but no body really knows it. But anyways FAM good job you represented FL well.

  • did u even watch the parade? there were a LOT of hbcu bands and h.s there. and everything else in between from his home of hawaii

  • and everyone can't be included in everything

  • I'm not saying everyone, I'm saying the most historic, Jones is probably the most historic black school in Florida aside from Cookman, but then again Cookman only started out so historic because a female founded it and it was an all female college. Think about it how the fuck you gonna go to these black schools and get there votes and not allow them to celebrate with you? Thats a slap in the face.

  • the first step in going is to apply. Cookman didnt apply.

  • Oh ok I didn't know that.

  • grambling was there :)

  • obama?

  • that band isnt getting small anytime soon

  • tuck!

  • o_O theres so manny of them!! how many members does this band have? i need a number!

  • 400+

  • thats big...but they're still not bigger than fsu :P

  • Please dont tell me ur talking about fayetteville stae university.

  • LOL nah man....im talkin about florida state university....largest band..IN THE COUNTRY! proven fact..

  • u go to fsu

  • nah i just like their band

  • yea who cares really.......

  • thank you.. lol...famu and fsu are actually the two best marching bands in the country lol

  • i care

  • lol they only out number them by like 20

  • They're much better though.

  • that meac cant nobody else touch them baby!!!!

  • Thats whats up! Im so proud to be in the Hundred!

  • My school is nowhere near FAMU, not even an HBCU, but I'm still a huge fan of the 100. I'm so happy for this band because y'all got a huge opportunity and killed it, as usual!

  • We need 2 stadiums for da Rattlers. FAMU yall were great, everything was together, no section was louder than the other and the the tone was just right but keep poppin them 90's see yall at Battle of the Bands in '09

  • That is what i'm talking about 2:05 sax section picking them up. It is something about hearing a HBCU band make a person that can not dance like myself feel as if they can. lololol

  • FAMU and UAPB both HBCU's again prove where the best bands are. Great job bands. Together they got more play time than any other bands, put together.

  • I had to watch this again, I like the big band look and sound. I would like to see yall blow at FSU's band with this numbers.

    Again, good job.

  • Blow at FSU? Florida State University? Fayetteville State University? Are you serious? For what?

  • im so proud my future skool c/o '11

  • Nothing like the hunnerd! I was there, and never more proud to be a RATTLER! I know Mr. President wanted to break out his James Brown slide!

  • You know he did...lmao!!!

  • There's another clip of the 100 from this parade where Michelle actually does the James Brown slide and then the President cuts a little step.

  • lol, seriously? I would like to see that. Is it on here?

  • where is it at? lol

  • How do you guys keep the tempo? It seems like you're large enough that there'd be a delay in the sound from one end to the other.

  • Thats in large why the Percussion section is in the middle. you cna hear the pulse of the beat in the front section and the back section

  • Yeah I know. But I play with Tuskegee (much smaller) and I just wondered if the delay was too long or something.

  • they have like a million drum majors.lol

  • yea

  • only the 100 can time the chant "baby baby baby" right on que as they approach the president!

  • I'm so proud of the 100! IN ALL THE WORLD THERE'S ONLY ONE!!!! 99 and a half just won't do!!! Hubba 100!!!

  • action speaks louder than words so on this one my lips are sealed.............The best!

  • as usual u guys sound great and the Obama family was very impressed

  • At 1:10 you see Obama say "one of the best" while pointing at the 100. Fa sho.

  • Even though I attend a school in the SWAC (Alabama State), FAMU did a very good job reppin for all HBCU's across the nation...good job!!!

  • I'm so proud of them for bringing it despite being in that cold for all those hours. I was there and almost missed them. It was truly a great day for everyone.

    Thanks for posting.

  • dahottestyet, they were saying "baby, baby, baby" for the james brown song

  • im so proud to be a rattler

    FAMU TODAY

    FAMU TOMORROW

    FAMU 4 EVER!

  • FAMU has a huge band
