@jamminbones the mad season song is standard tuned, Slave is drop D, plus the harmonic or on differnt strings and different frets in each song. So really ripping would be a straight up copy. Its hard to name a song thats not influenced by another band from any era. Just cuz you have never heard the song it came from doesnt me that it wasnt influenced somewhere in the writting.
@bronxandrew Oh so you're saying Silverchair DID rip the tune off that stupid Mad Season band? Well if you walked up to Daniel Johns one day and ask him if he ripped off that Mad Season band then come back here and tell me ya answer. I can assure you it will be a big fat NO.
OK you little children. I am sick of these comparisons with Mad Season. It can't be a rip off AND IT ISN'T! "I Don't Know Anything" and "Slave" are both two different songs, oh yeah the songs might sound a LITTLE alike, or A LOT alike and have both been played in "Drop D" whatever the hell that is...BUT it's not a rip off. It doesn't fricken matter anymore and this song was recorded in 1996 or 1997 so why are you guys still complaining about this now? This is just nonsense.
@thechaircover Oh gee, thanks a lot. Makes me feel so happy.
And what does my age have to do with this anyway?
And if you're really sure he did then I don't give. But what I believe is that he didn't, it's just a song, big deal. There are so many artists out there today that get compared. EVERYONE HAS TO GET COMPARED. I feel like punching someone now.
@kanedasrifle yeah, there was a bit of a d-bag tone to my response - haha. Just seems like a lot of folks like to crap all over daniel johns over this tune (see every other vid on this tune) and it gets old. By the way, Straight Lines is a far better example you are right! Merry Christmas!
I went through the same thing as Daniel in 2007, I dont know how he did this tour. MORE POWER TO YOU DANIEL. I still fight it everyday I awake. The monster is with you forever. Shake off the tightened bones to live another day.
the two riffs are similar. But that's about it. Not enough for a ripoff claim, just a "hey that sounds like that other song"....and how many of those are there....endless.
listen to this during sex...not only will you have a blast, the song turns into something even better if you can believe that as Slave is already kick ass
They're similar, but for one, they're in different tunings. It's all power chord rock though, a lot of riffs have been recycled by many bands. They're very generic riffs. Daniel Johns was a teen when this was written, he was obviously influenced by what he was listening to at the time, but I really don't think he intentionally ripped of Mad Season.
"They're similar, but for one, they're in different tunings"
Actually.... They're both in Drop D tuning. They also use the same exact natural harmonic. The riff was a blatant ripoff. However, for 13-15 year-olds doing it...noone cared. I bet Layne Staley never even bothered to listen to Silverchair to even know about it...nor would he or anyone else in Mad Season have even cared. Those bands weren't about filing law suits over royalties.
@WarmothGuitarist Well Actually Frogstomp was recorded in December of 1994 and above by mad season was not released until 1995 meaning its probably just a weird coincidence
Yeah, but "Slave" wasn't on Frogstomp, it was on Freak Show...which was recorded in 1996. Which means Daniel probably borrowed the riff.
IMO, the riff from "I Don't Know Anything" was such an awesome riff, I'd have stolen it too. Besides, Daniel was what...16... when he wrote this song? Not bad to take that riff and turn it into THIS song at that age.
No worries man. it was what...14 or 15 years ago? I've done a lot of crap since then. Hell...I barely remember 15 months ago, much less 15 years ago. LOL.
@WarmothGuitarist Well im only 16 now so ts still pretty new to me ive listened to frogstomp and freak show at the same time on shuffle alot so i guess it messed me up
@kanedasrifle I would also like to comment on the fact that Silverchair actually played Slave in a 1995 concert. That being said, I doubt they ripped off Mad Season. I like both bands so I don't really care about these stupid arguments I just wanted to share my input.
Who cares if Silverchair jacked all of their riffs. They were 12-13 years old when they did it. Does anyone really think they considered what they were doing?
Regardless, they wrote some heavy and energetic shit back in the day...and it's made them tons of money
Personally... I think they need to go back to stealing riffs. Their latest release pretty much sucks balls.
I think they did consider what they were doing. I don't care how young they were. Anyone who can write and perform music like that is a fucking genius.
yeah, you're right, it's kind of awkward i must say, hard to say if it was intentional or not, though, suicidal dream borrowed a riff from bleed the freak by alice in chains quite obviously too
but who cares? it might not have been very fair, but it led to a good music
and slave is more energetic=rocks more for me, i don't know anything is great too, but in a different way, and of course, is original, afaik ;-)
I have to disagree, mainly because I know and love both bands. I don't want to use a cliche, but it's like comparing apples and oranges. They're both awesome in their own right. I think of old Silverchair as being very primitive but still rocks my face off, and AiC as veteran grunge/metal band. The musicianship combo that Layne and Jerry from AiC had is hard to come by. Before Layne died, AiC actually did begin exploring another realm of music, they just didn't change their style completely.
why do you listen to english music then? silverchair's a great band with deep lyrics. that's what music is about. feel and GET what they say, enjoy their music. i wonder how you manage to do so.
i don't know how big mad season were in australia, but.... i doubt daniel johns has ever heard of them?
can't know that for sure. but the only thing "similar" are the harmonics in the intro. that means nothing. daniel's such a great musician, he doesn't need to steal.
Oh, give me a break! This song came out BEFORE "Hey Man, Nice Shot". And besides, they only share the 2 chords, Hey man nice shots continues that patter all the way down the neck until open D. Your an idiot
thats fucked up alice in chains would have never went anywhere without layne. mad season gave me a whole othe respect for layne they were awesome. my nephew is named after layne staley
Its very identical yes, yet it's not the same :) And the its only the 1st riff. Then the hole music is completly diferent and so are the vocals. If they dont know how to make music how did they made all of these CD's winning awards? ;) grow up! Hatebridah, that must be jealouse work.
you obviously have never heard their albums Diorama or Young Modern. Music doesn't get more creative and original than that! Daniel Johns is a genius!!!
I ripped it off for a song I wrote too... However, the song I did was more of an ode to this generation of music. I also put Soundgarden's main riff from "Outshined" in it, and also used the main riff from Helmet's "Unsung".
only a real ignorant would say that thing you said.. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING and SLAVE are two different songs, you come to shit around just for that riff?.. fuck yourself idiot
Don't ever try to see who is better (from Nrvn and SChair).Nirvana was very important in the time they appeard, they opened a lot of doors, influenced all the generations from 90s.And having a simple composition in your music doesnt mean it's a bad music! Simple can be good, and is as hard to compose as a complex song!Yet, if you wan't to see one of the best albums from the 90's, in terms of composition, check Grace from Jeff Buckley. One of the best 90's composer! :) Grunge=RawMusic not complex
Nevermind was not the best 90's album, it was a bestseller. But quantity was never quality!
Nirvana haves one of the most simple compositions you can imagine, that's why a lot of people that is starting in music plays nirvana. They were important for they values, their raw songs and spirits, amazing raw voice (from Kurt), all his thougts... D.John is pure talent, one of the best voices ever, amazing composer, good guitar player... Yet don't forget, Without Nirvana there would be no Silverchair!
I disagree. The members of Silverchair didn't even like Nirvana, so I'm sure they'd still be around if Nirvana hadn't been. I can "hear" the resemblance between the 2 bands on Silverchair's first 2 albums, but after that there's no comparison...Silverchair blew Nirvana (and most bands imo) out of the water with Diorama
and Freak Show has a lot of Beatles, Led Zeppelin a Black Sabbath influence (exemples like Cemetery, The Door, Petrol and Chlorine. They changed, compare them to Nirvana nowadays makes no sense at all, Diorama is an album that could be compared to Pet Sounds from the Beach Boys maybe due the fact Van Dyke Parks worked on it.And of course, the complexity and orchestration arrangements are extremely relevant to the atmosphere reached in their 3 last albums. They're better than Nirvana IMO.
Actually the Chris Joannou revealed some years ago that the name of the band actullay came when they were still Innocent Criminals, just after they won "Pick Me" in 1994, Nick Launey (or maybe Johns Watson) suggested that it was a good idea for them to change the band's name, they did a list and Silverchair was their favourite one. By the way, Nirvana and Silverchair are different bands, of course sc had a grunge influence but that only happened in their 2 first albums.
It's not what song is better. They are based on the same main riff. I don't know anything is half just McCready soloing. But hey.. opinions are like asshole.. everyone's got em.
Better guitarist then Mad Season? Layne Staley didn't play much guitar for Mad Season, and he's about as strong of a vocalist as they come, so you may be right about that part. But come on.. Mike McCready? Pearl Jam's lead guitarist... guy has toured with like... everyone.
They do sound similar...I guess they were channeling. Dan's lyrics r much better!!!!! Daniel is a total GENIUS-to write music & lyrics @ age 14/15. Agree w/Beaver0305...much more complex!!!!!!
That is a good point...they wrote the Freak Show album when they were about 17 whereas the guys from Mad Season were probably in their 30's when "I don't know anything" came out. Lyrically, they're a tie at that point...
But let's look at Mad Season now and look at Silverchair NOW...Score 1 for Daniel Johns and Crew =)
oh you forgot, its 28 years, 2 months, 4 days and 15 seconds =/
Wow, I was 2 years off...this is STILL compared to kids who were 16 when they wrote it and 17 when they performed it. And Silverchair is doing FAR better than Mad Season is no doubt, has put out FAR better albums and no contest Daniel is a better singer than anyone in that band has ever been
are you kidding me? when silverchair were grunge, all they did is doing rip off nirvana or other band like mad season. Band that changed music.Silverchair? Since they have no songs to rip off anymore, they turned pop.
Grunge was a simplified form of music meant to kill-off overdone and showy music like hair metal. Drop-D tuning and barred chords was the gist of the music. While they may have played a similar style, they wrote their own music and were FOURTEEN when they did it, how well did YOU write at 14?
You're comparing artist in late 20s with teenagers, you really can't. For their age they kicked ass. Go listen to Neon Ballroom or Diorama, and see how much they progressed as opposed to those others today
stairway to heaven by led zeppelin 'ripped off' heaps of riffs from classical guitar compositions but that doesnt make it bad. and if all the music is at that point is power chords there's not all that many things you can do with it.
lets compare that to Emotion Sickness, Satin Sheets, Miss You Love, or Dearest Helpless. All written by Daniel Johns at the age of 18.
And Daniel will always be better than Kurt today because well...Daniel wasn't dumb enough to end his own career lol. Any lyrically the ONLY person contending with Daniel at that time would have been Billy Corgan, who is phenomenal in his own rite as well.
he is nobody. Kurt is a legend. Not because he killed himself. Nirvana was the biggest band in 92. If you walk in the street and ask 10 persons who is daniel johns, None will know who he is.
Kurt and his band were in the right place at the right time, ask the average person if they know who Scott Weiland is lol
Not to mention, Nirvana was an American band from Seattle, Silverchair was from Australia. Given they had a major ocean between them and the US BEFORE file-sharing made all this stuff available worldwide, they did pretty damn good.
nirvana from seattle? no way. kurt didnt live more than one year in seattle, and it was in 93/94 while they were big. They came from aberdeen, I bet you dont even know where it is. So the state or country doesnt matter at all. Also, did you know, in 89 while they were still in the usa, they were more popular in england. Theres a major ocean(like you say) between the usa and england.
wow, I'm off by about..umm, about 150 miles or so? It's close to Seattle, they're a part of the scene by proximity. Your technicalities proved nothing anyhow, so thank you for useless trivia =)
more at the time, and I was referring to people in the US knowing who Daniel Johns was as you had challenged me to defend that point. And no matter what you say you can't argue many things:
kurt never progressed? they went from weird stuff ala scratch acid or butthole surfer to heavy grunge to pop and in 94 he was starting to write mellow acoustic songs. Being doesnt mean anything. It was only his choice. thats all.
Yeah, I never heard Kurt incorporating an entire orchestra flawlessly into his music...or singing as good as Daniel does for that fact, so progression is a lost cause for him.
*sigh* Tell me, does being a fanboy ever, you know...make you feel stupid? The guy was addicted to heroin (real smart choice there)and had a disgusting girlfriend. Maybe he thought he was going to be the next John Lennon till he woke up one day and realized he was just a bum...then he shot himself...real smart fella lol
By the way, nirvana did the best album of the 90s. silverchair (which by the way were nammed SLIVERchair at one point, after a nirvana song) did nothing at all.
Yes, I'm well aware of the origin of their name, it got misspelled as "silverchair" and it stuck after a while.
That's debatable, if we're going to get into who did the "best" albums of the 90's, nobody is holding a candle to the Smashing Pumpkins there...better guitar-work, drums and lyrics than Nirvana ever thought about. Plus, the guys from Silverchair were kids up until Neon Ballroom....still in HIGH SCHOOL. And Frogstomp was the biggest seller of ANY Australian recording artist ever btw
There was no string-work or orchestral composition on Nirvana albums like on Smashing Pumpkins albums. And Adore, is a feat that no other band could replicate, both compositionally and lyrically, in that previous genre. Might I also add, that by Freak Show, Silverchair did the same thing (listen to Cemetery or Petrol & Chlorine).
they weren't called sliverchair ever!!! you fricken tart. Ben wanted to request Sliver by Nirvana and Berlin chair by w/e and Chris wrote it down to remember and wrote silver instead of sliver and it was writen out silverchair and they went "oh that sound cool" So get your facts right before you go off talking about shit you have no idea about. peace bitch
Dan wasn't as big of a fan of Nirvana as Ben and Chris were, most of his influence came from earlier bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin (according to him). One band Daniel was a huge fan of was Helmet, though.
Well I agree You can't compare them in one sense, but in another you can ascertain the level of complexity in their composition and raw talent. That's where the debate starts, and thats where Kurt loses lol
man people are stupid.... There is no right or wrong answer...some bands change and some dont... example..AC/DC did not change but their records became less poular thought their carreer..... band chang man and sometimes its for the better sometime for the worst.
FACT IS THIS SONG OWNZ and DANIEL is a hell of better gutar player than MAD SEASON. SLAVE IS PURE BALLS OUT RIFFAGE!!!!

What difference does it make what tuning it's in? It's still a blatant rip off. Maybe it was done subconsciously.

Before Layne died, AiC actually did begin exploring another realm of music, they just didn't change their style completely.

why do you listen to english music then? silverchair's a great band with deep lyrics. that's what music is about. feel and GET what they say, enjoy their music. i wonder how you manage to do so.
ARMS0is0still0here 3 years ago
he manages to do so by listening to THE MUSIC not the lyrics.
chilil57 2 years ago
ehm... could you learn proper english before talking to me? i'm sorry, but i didn't get the meaning.
1. you did not steal? you're no thief? that's good! *cookie*
2. no, i didn't sleep with daniel. he's kind of too old for me. i wouldn't be interested anyway though.
3. what does "what the listener? no!" mean?
i assume it's something like "so you know what he's listening to"
4... sleeping with someone doesn't show you which music that person's listening to. FYI and all.
sorry.

i don't know how big mad season were in australia, but.... i doubt daniel johns has ever heard of them?
can't know that for sure. but the only thing "similar" are the harmonics in the intro. that means nothing. daniel's such a great musician, he doesn't need to steal.

bunch of Nirvana wannabe's... btw the main chorus riff is a rip off of Hey Man Nice Shot (at 1:35)
I still like the song though
Eballs84 3 years ago
Oh, give me a break! This song came out BEFORE "Hey Man, Nice Shot". And besides, they only share the 2 chords, Hey man nice shots continues that patter all the way down the neck until open D. Your an idiot

"Slave" and "Hey Man, Nice Shot" came out at about the same time.

Its very identical yes, yet it's not the same :) And the its only the 1st riff. Then the hole music is completly diferent and so are the vocals. If they dont know how to make music how did they made all of these CD's winning awards? ;) grow up! Hatebridah, that must be jealouse work.

They don't know how to make music so they just copy other bands
hatebridah 3 years ago
you obviously have never heard their albums Diorama or Young Modern. Music doesn't get more creative and original than that! Daniel Johns is a genius!!!
chairlover721 3 years ago 4
I ripped it off for a song I wrote too... However, the song I did was more of an ode to this generation of music. I also put Soundgarden's main riff from "Outshined" in it, and also used the main riff from Helmet's "Unsung".
WarmothGuitarist 3 years ago
Ironically, the guitar Daniel's playing in this video used to belong to Page Hamilton of Helmet
WarmothGuitarist 3 years ago
Well on the riff for this song Daniel plays a harmonic on the 5th fret and on the Mad Song the harmonic is on the 9th and 7th fret
So he didn't copy the riff is just sounds similar
CMGrunge 3 years ago
only a real ignorant would say that thing you said.. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING and SLAVE are two different songs, you come to shit around just for that riff?.. fuck yourself idiot
essaychamber 3 years ago
Don't ever try to see who is better (from Nrvn and SChair).Nirvana was very important in the time they appeard, they opened a lot of doors, influenced all the generations from 90s.And having a simple composition in your music doesnt mean it's a bad music! Simple can be good, and is as hard to compose as a complex song!Yet, if you wan't to see one of the best albums from the 90's, in terms of composition, check Grace from Jeff Buckley. One of the best 90's composer! :) Grunge=RawMusic not complex
BonesLung 3 years ago
Nevermind was not the best 90's album, it was a bestseller. But quantity was never quality!
Nirvana haves one of the most simple compositions you can imagine, that's why a lot of people that is starting in music plays nirvana. They were important for they values, their raw songs and spirits, amazing raw voice (from Kurt), all his thougts... D.John is pure talent, one of the best voices ever, amazing composer, good guitar player... Yet don't forget, Without Nirvana there would be no Silverchair!
BonesLung 3 years ago
I disagree. The members of Silverchair didn't even like Nirvana, so I'm sure they'd still be around if Nirvana hadn't been. I can "hear" the resemblance between the 2 bands on Silverchair's first 2 albums, but after that there's no comparison...Silverchair blew Nirvana (and most bands imo) out of the water with Diorama
chairlover721 3 years ago 3
and Freak Show has a lot of Beatles, Led Zeppelin a Black Sabbath influence (exemples like Cemetery, The Door, Petrol and Chlorine.
Dudisse 3 years ago
Actually the Chris Joannou revealed some years ago that the name of the band actullay came when they were still Innocent Criminals, just after they won "Pick Me" in 1994, Nick Launey (or maybe Johns Watson) suggested that it was a good idea for them to change the band's name, they did a list and Silverchair was their favourite one. By the way, Nirvana and Silverchair are different bands, of course sc had a grunge influence but that only happened in their 2 first albums.
Dudisse 3 years ago
I really dug silverchair back in the day. I'm actually working on covering this song with my band. It's fun to play.
It sounds slower on this video than on the cd.
snowboardzombie 3 years ago
It's not what song is better. They are based on the same main riff. I don't know anything is half just McCready soloing. But hey.. opinions are like asshole.. everyone's got em.
HeavenBesideU 3 years ago
Better guitarist then Mad Season? Layne Staley didn't play much guitar for Mad Season, and he's about as strong of a vocalist as they come, so you may be right about that part. But come on.. Mike McCready? Pearl Jam's lead guitarist... guy has toured with like... everyone.
HeavenBesideU 3 years ago
They do sound similar...I guess they were channeling. Dan's lyrics r much better!!!!! Daniel is a total GENIUS-to write music & lyrics @ age 14/15. Agree w/Beaver0305...much more complex!!!!!!
dc770 3 years ago
That is a good point...they wrote the Freak Show album when they were about 17 whereas the guys from Mad Season were probably in their 30's when "I don't know anything" came out. Lyrically, they're a tie at that point...
But let's look at Mad Season now and look at Silverchair NOW...Score 1 for Daniel Johns and Crew =)
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
they werent 30. staley was 28 at this moment
franknirvana 3 years ago
oh you forgot, its 28 years, 2 months, 4 days and 15 seconds =/
Wow, I was 2 years off...this is STILL compared to kids who were 16 when they wrote it and 17 when they performed it. And Silverchair is doing FAR better than Mad Season is no doubt, has put out FAR better albums and no contest Daniel is a better singer than anyone in that band has ever been
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
are you kidding me? when silverchair were grunge, all they did is doing rip off nirvana or other band like mad season. Band that changed music.Silverchair? Since they have no songs to rip off anymore, they turned pop.
franknirvana 3 years ago
Grunge was a simplified form of music meant to kill-off overdone and showy music like hair metal. Drop-D tuning and barred chords was the gist of the music. While they may have played a similar style, they wrote their own music and were FOURTEEN when they did it, how well did YOU write at 14?
You're comparing artist in late 20s with teenagers, you really can't. For their age they kicked ass. Go listen to Neon Ballroom or Diorama, and see how much they progressed as opposed to those others today
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
you know the song lie to me? well its a rip off of tourettes, a nirvana song. Even if they were 14, age is not a reason to steal riffs.
franknirvana 3 years ago
stairway to heaven by led zeppelin 'ripped off' heaps of riffs from classical guitar compositions but that doesnt make it bad. and if all the music is at that point is power chords there's not all that many things you can do with it.
2x4b96123 3 years ago 2
by the way, cobain wrote some awesome songs when he was 18. like spank thru, downer. etc.
franknirvana 3 years ago
lets compare that to Emotion Sickness, Satin Sheets, Miss You Love, or Dearest Helpless.
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
he is nobody. Kurt is a legend. Not because he killed himself. Nirvana was the biggest band in 92. If you walk in the street and ask 10 persons who is daniel johns, None will know who he is.
franknirvana 3 years ago
Kurt and his band were in the right place at the right time, ask the average person if they know who Scott Weiland is lol
Not to mention, Nirvana was an American band from Seattle, Silverchair was from Australia. Given they had a major ocean between them and the US BEFORE file-sharing made all this stuff available worldwide, they did pretty damn good.
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
nirvana from seattle? no way. kurt didnt live more than one year in seattle, and it was in 93/94 while they were big. They came from aberdeen, I bet you dont even know where it is. So the state or country doesnt matter at all. Also, did you know, in 89 while they were still in the usa, they were more popular in england. Theres a major ocean(like you say) between the usa and england.
franknirvana 3 years ago
wow, I'm off by about..umm, about 150 miles or so? It's close to Seattle, they're a part of the scene by proximity. Your technicalities proved nothing anyhow, so thank you for useless trivia =)
more at the time, and I was referring to people in the US knowing who Daniel Johns was as you had challenged me to defend that point. And no matter what you say you can't argue many things:
1)Silverchair got signed younger
2)Their sound progressed more
3)Daniel sang better AND He's STILL ALIVE =p
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
being alive doesnt prove that hes great....
franknirvana 3 years ago
He still sings better than Kurt ever did and their band progressed more from album to album
Being alive proves he's not a fucking dumbass lol
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
kurt never progressed? they went from weird stuff ala scratch acid or butthole surfer to heavy grunge to pop and in 94 he was starting to write mellow acoustic songs. Being doesnt mean anything. It was only his choice. thats all.
franknirvana 3 years ago
Yeah, I never heard Kurt incorporating an entire orchestra flawlessly into his music...or singing as good as Daniel does for that fact, so progression is a lost cause for him.
*sigh* Tell me, does being a fanboy ever, you know...make you feel stupid? The guy was addicted to heroin (real smart choice there)and had a disgusting girlfriend. Maybe he thought he was going to be the next John Lennon till he woke up one day and realized he was just a bum...then he shot himself...real smart fella lol
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
I might not be smart, but making fun of a dead person is fucking stupid man.
franknirvana 3 years ago
By the way, nirvana did the best album of the 90s. silverchair (which by the way were nammed SLIVERchair at one point, after a nirvana song) did nothing at all.
franknirvana 3 years ago
Yes, I'm well aware of the origin of their name, it got misspelled as "silverchair" and it stuck after a while.
That's debatable, if we're going to get into who did the "best" albums of the 90's, nobody is holding a candle to the Smashing Pumpkins there...better guitar-work, drums and lyrics than Nirvana ever thought about. Plus, the guys from Silverchair were kids up until Neon Ballroom....still in HIGH SCHOOL. And Frogstomp was the biggest seller of ANY Australian recording artist ever btw
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
are you talking about mellon collie and the infinite sadness? Its a good album sure but not as nevermind.
franknirvana 3 years ago
I meant all of them lol
There was no string-work or orchestral composition on Nirvana albums like on Smashing Pumpkins albums. And Adore, is a feat that no other band could replicate, both compositionally and lyrically, in that previous genre. Might I also add, that by Freak Show, Silverchair did the same thing (listen to Cemetery or Petrol & Chlorine).
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
they weren't called sliverchair ever!!! you fricken tart. Ben wanted to request Sliver by Nirvana and Berlin chair by w/e and Chris wrote it down to remember and wrote silver instead of sliver and it was writen out silverchair and they went "oh that sound cool" So get your facts right before you go off talking about shit you have no idea about. peace bitch

WTF
do not never compare kurt with daniel johns!!!
i mean come on kurt is so much different
daniel is a big fan of him that's all
but you can't compare them with each other
srry for the bad english :P
soundgarden86 3 years ago
Dan wasn't as big of a fan of Nirvana as Ben and Chris were, most of his influence came from earlier bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin (according to him). One band Daniel was a huge fan of was Helmet, though.
Well I agree You can't compare them in one sense, but in another you can ascertain the level of complexity in their composition and raw talent. That's where the debate starts, and thats where Kurt loses lol
AnimisBassist 3 years ago
Yeah if your in Americaaa. Go to Australia or the UK

daniel johns better than layne? no way.
