@feorasm I noticed this too. I was training between two clubs, the college club is primarily SKIF. Kancho Kanazawa has changed some of the katas to his interpretations. Luckily these are published in his own Kata book "The Complete Kata". I heard at a seminar once the black belts were confused which was Gojushiho Sho as Kancho did the other one. SKIF's Gojushiho Sho is everyone else's Gojushiho Dai? I must confirm this some day, long long way from being able to learn that kata though :D
Beautiful Kata, we learn it yday (ok I had some probs with remember the moves and others :-) and the way Master KAnazawa is performing... simply amazing... Oss
Kanazawa Kancho is just the best i have trained under him lots of times,he's always got time for his students and now his sons' are doing the same. Never miss the chance to train with him.
Master Okazaki is coming to my area once the Karate course is concluded. All schools in my area that have Karate courses are going to go to his clinic. If you don't know who he is, he is the second living 10th dan Shotokan Karate master.
I am also starting to learn this last kata to obtain my black belt. Already learned Jion, Bassai Dai, and Kanku Dai. This one looks a little more advanced than the others to learn. 2nd Kyu Brown Belt so far and close to testing for 1st Kyu in the next month or so. Almost a double black belt after 11 years of training in martial arts. I feel accomplished yet also feel that I haven't even scratched the surface of MA.
nah, Enpi is a good deal less advanced (in my humble opinion :P) than Jion or Kanku Dai. I learned this kata a good deal before testing for my black belt, but then again, I had to preform ten or eleven katas for my black belt test. I'm testing in 6 months for my second dan, and im quite excited. (I will be preforming Sochin, Jion, Bassai Sho, Kanku Sho, and Tekki Sandan, i do believe.)
quadripedman excuse me, but what is your karate school name? Or karate federation?(if you are in). hard to believe that a 1st dan exam has to ten or eleven kata... it's uite impossible. No offences, but I study the traditional karate, and the modern karate(since I do a lot of competitions), and sadly a lot of school in America are destructing this art. No reasons to ask a brown belt ten to eleven kata for the first dan. It's not even showing that the studen is "good", it's just not necessary.
Well I will not disrespect your Sensei, since I don't want people to disrecpect me aswell. But mmm your Sensei must have his reasons, but it's extremely strange, believe me. Doing this is not even showing that the student is "good", it's really not necessary for a 1st dan, really it is not. Are you sure you had to execute ten to eleven kata to obtain a 1st dan?
Well, its not like we had to learn 10 new ones between brown and black belt. we just did all of the previous katas (heians, tekis, enpi, chinte, bassi dai, kanku dai, and i do believe thats it.) that we had learned for the testing before black belt.
I am a member of the WKA (world karate association) and my sensi is Lori Stanley (she is actually president of the USWKA)
I agree. To get my black belt you only needed to know your basic kata and Bassai Dai as well as being able to efectively lead a warm up/ class and good sparing techniwue to obtain your 1st Dan.
Yeah. I only had to know all the katas up to Bassai Dai, and we got to choose one of these four - jion, enpi, kanku dai, hangestsu. I chose jion, nice and simple. Lol. And bunkai for a kata of the examiner's choice. And yeah, the warm up thing...which I still can't do properly with the instructors watching me. :P
SK84LYF100 - Your kata from 3rd kyu above til 1st dan will be Bassai Dai - but it's great to start learning the 1st dan ones already. You'll need to remember them for your 1st dan and above.
I train in the South-West England - not giving full details sorry. :)
@ShotokanKarateRules that is how "we" do it?:) Excuse me but who is "we"?:) I think it vary from schools my friend;). Like I said in my message, I'm not here to judge any Sensei, and wathever they feel that their students need to show at an exam;). But what I know is, if your student is strictly folowwing the JKA rules(that is if he's member of the JKA), there are specific KIHON, KATA to do for Dan exams. But people can do wathever they want, because Karate is not a "religion". Ciao my friend.
I meant "we" as in my club I attend, and yes I do realise that other clubs and schools so things differently - sorry if that wasn't made clear in my previous posts. :)
And yes, I understand all that you've written. Sorry, but I don't fully understand...did I say something that upset you or something? I'm not trying to be mean to people or anything. :)
weird:D normally for the first dan, you need "to choose" one advanced kata:D and your Sensei will choose one random kata in the Heian. But I guess it vary from teachers and karate federations.... mmm but normally you are supposed to choose one advanced kata that you will present, not 3-4 kata.... unless you are passing the 3rd Dan and more.
sometimes for the 1st Dan, the sensei will choose one random advanced kata for you to perform, and you choose one Heian of your choice. But I think in every cases, there is a part where you choose yourself depending of the sensei or the karate federation you are in. Anyway good luck.
Yeah i agree it may vary from teacher to teacher And organization. Previously before when we're in our kyu stages we had to perform all the kata below the belt including the grading kata. for black belt, we choose two of the advanced kata i.e. i chose hangetsu and enpi, once performed, they then give you another advanced usually kanku dai, and then a heian kata. i think what its for is because black belts nowadays are young its a test of fitness, olden days you wouldnt get black until like 40
I know how you feel, i have my grading on sunday for black belt, its been a long time coming. black belt isnt the end but the beginning. have you learned hangetsu yet? its a nice kata, i chose it as one of the katas i have to do as a rest point kind of. i say kind of because if done correctly hangetsu can tire you out but just not like kanku dai(that one is a killer!!!)
If you perform all 10 kata at full blast it really drains you. I can perform Bassai Dai, Kanku Dai, and Jion at full speed and it makes me pour sweat. Really great workout and physical conditioning though. Good luck with your black belt test!! I really hope you get it, I am sure you worked hard to earn it. Train hard and have a great day.
I trained with him this year, yeah i know his getting old BUT HE STILL HIS ONE GOOD KARATE MASTER AND ALWAYS WILL BE and let me tell you he really kicks ass, hes kicking age´'s ass XD
Seems someone thinks shotokan is a fairly new style, funny coz i know people who did shotokan about 25yrs ago. Ref the comments on TRUE karate I doubt very much that most people/schools in the west have any ideas as to what TRUE karate is but they do all have their own views as to what it is and everybody takes that as being the truth, there must be 100's of schools who teach TRUE karate and all of them have different views
why did you say okinawan karate owes there origins to japan? am i missing something here? Didnt japanese shotokan originally come from okinawan karate? and no not all traditional forms are from shotokan...shotokan forms are NOT considered traditional lol
@bjfp7 i strongly dissagree with you i dissagree you 100% and yes shotokan is new its no more then 200-300 years tops see this guy in the video? he tought my sensai nammed mike cook. so i think i know what im talking about and besides i am a blue belt
@iggymydog sorry doggy but i wouldnt call anything 2-300yrs old "new " what has you being a blue belt got to do with anything? I dont understand, are you trying to tell me that because your a blue belt you are a master of knowledge when it comes to your schools history? every style has helped form another so anything that was ever called new was just a newer interpretation and mixture of something older
@bjfp7 my good friend im not saying enything im just saying what i tihink i know to try and help thoes i only wish to help. and my sensai trained with this guy many times and ive been doing it for 2 years sso yes i do hope i know a little bit about this martial art how ever if you find what i say untruthfull or you think me to be wrong thats ok ill admit im never right all the tiome how ever try to be nicer and not just a nother youtube jerk because niceness seems to make a beter point then mean
@bjfp7 The thing that is very important with Shotokan Karate is that we are required to learn our history in order to advance. Shotokan has stayed very traditional since its creation in 1936 by the late Gishin Funakoshi. That "guy" you are referring to is Master Kanazawa who prides himself on carrying on the old style it is actually from two different styles it combines the hard with the soft. I have to askmy Sensei what countries are involved. Okanawa, China, Japan and I believe one more.
@bjfp7 Shotokan started in 1922, was taught by Gichin Funakoshi and is one of the three principals styles in which karate-do developed in Okinawa (where karate-do was born); the other two styles are goju-ryu and shito-ryu. After this, karate has been altered in lot of different ways and that's the reason why, nowadays, we can find more than 300 different styles.
For people who practise karate, I think you all should have an idea of where karate comes from, but that's just my opinion.
@92gt50 Excuse me, but Shotokan was a term (name) applied to O Sensei Funakoshi's dojo in the early-to-mid twentieth century by his students. It cannot be over 150 yrs old.

Nishyama called Smith, Dalke and others into his office and told them that they couldn't compete anymore in JKA tourneys. Smith said that after that they didn't face him when he came into the dojo and kept their backs to him. Where was the shihan's dojo kun? When are you idiots going to stop the idol worshipping? Why do you feel that to criticise them is a personal attack on you? I am a follower of TRUE karate do! I don't practice idol worship! Only true karate do! Follow my example!
Yes, the "great" Enoeda broke the jaw of a young Frank Smith when Smith was supposed to have been sparring him. Big man! Jap snipes a shodan to show how "great" he was! These types have huge egos. that's why they have publicity shots of themselves teaching a few hundred at a time. The real masters had but one or two students. They have no humility and now are just out for the bucks! Smith was stopped competing because in Mexico city he destroyed a JKA b.b. from Japan. Humble? Liars!
FRANKVANQUEENS>> how dare you to say that master funakoshi taught karate just for money?? you dont have any right to say that because first, master funakoshi dont know you man! these masters are nothing against you so please stop posting a comment against them. be a humble man be matured!!.. OSS!
wasnt kanazawa and eonoda kicked out of an organisation for having vilent tendancies , ive seen alot of him and many others , i dont do shotokan but when i see karate to there standard it fills me with great enthusiasm to get my gi and go train , i wouldnt want to be hit by him

Kanazawa never trained under Funakoshi. He, like many of his generation in the JKA claimed to have, but Nakayama was really his instructor. He says that so he can further himself from the JKA. Tsumoto Oshima said that when Funakoshi was elderly his students had forgotten him and gone away. Where then was Kanazawa at this time? He was with Nakayama. Kanazawa's karate shows now reflection of Funakoshi's karate. Too many of you are ignorant of the truth. Is Master Oshima lying? I don't think so!
Hey Frankenqween.. Ive never met anyone in a position to lecture (the publicity seeking)Kanazawa on technique..can i come and study under you.your knowledge and wisdom have awakened me-no longer shall i bow to my old dojo painting of (the mercenary) Shoto..Teach me great Master.. worship u already.....

Whilst the practioner looks impressive, one must remember that this is being do to garner more publicity. It really bears no relevance to actual application. The kata must be done with as little resistance and a natural as walking. Too much emphasis performance and style. I have written to Kanazawa to correct these fatal flaws in the kata.
You must think you know more than anybody about karate...
IF YOU RECIEVE an answer from Sensei Kanzawa, post it please below this video... If you do not even recieve any answer, why do not you think about your moral values, encouraged by karate, such as being humble, etc.
Since you didn't reply to one thing that I wrote, it proves that I am correct! Shotokan was developed for schools to have a form of gymnastics. There are no weapons taught, no strikes to kill or maim, and Funakoshi taught for money! So no matter how much in awe you are of the practioner, you know absolutely nothing about true Karate. Your idol worship is horrible, because it clouds your understanding of Karate. Against a determined foe, Kanazawa would lose, and I have told him so!
you know absolutely nothing about true karate if you have to speak like that, kanazawa has faced several determined foes, he was even kumite world champion, shotokan is a fairly new style so of course the emphasis was not on weapons but they do practice with bo, tonfa, sai, and kama.
the only person that could find flaw in his technique is someone that decided before seeing him perform that they would find one.
go tell your master about your arrogance,im sure he'd be ashamed to have taught you
ok, i think that this isnt his like best kata, i think hes giving sort of a demonstration to see what it looks like, sorry for any trouble, but i stand by my word, there are no reckognized tenth dans in the world
I studied Shotokan as a kid.Now I am 30 and not familiar with karate anymore. However, when I see Luca Valdesi, along with many others,I get back to the spirit of a Kata competition. But when I see Mr. Kanazawa, I get the whole idea of what Karate means. The performance of a Kata may change for competition or teaching purposes. But the level of its understanding is not for everyone, it entails many things. To me, Kanazawa is special because he reminds me of what karate is all about in seconds.
OHYES...in 2000,by the most senior karateka in japan-tho it would appear his certificate would not be welcome on the wall of the McDOJO's to which some of our friends here belong !!
I would imagine your last comment was deleted due to the petulent little outburst it contained-one can only assume your karate is at the same level of arrogance/technical ignorance as your comments that pollute the splendid YouTube kata archive.
I wasnt going by what i read on the NET,ive followed h kanazawa for 31 years-i was in japan at the time of the award of his grade(by the countries most senior karateka)
This vid, along with the others was recorded well over 25years ago.hes 77 now.
it says on wikipedia that he is a tenth dan but after wtching this video i sersiouly doubt that both my insturctors are better then that and they are 3rd and 4th dans.....and for all the 7 years ive been doing karate ive always been told there are no rocognized tenth dans...and ya i agree Luca is AMAZING!!!!!!
no i know hes rockognized but he isnt a tenth dan, The internet doesnt always tell the truth EXCPESIALLY wikipedia, There are no tenth dans but he is most likely an eighth dan, and to me that pretty good
please-just google him,he looks pretty RECOGNISED to me-especially by the board that bestowed the grade in 2k!!!!!! or maybe he just makes it up to impress his mates.
Actually yeah I agree,hes rubbish..
just like NUREYEV was a crap dancer & PELE a crap footballer..
k first of all its spelt empi in the shotokan system...i think it might be spelt enpi in different syles of karate...and its true there are no recognized tenth dans...and this kata isnt acctaly all that great his timings off and his form isnt very good
NO TENTH DANS eh......it would have taken less time to google him than to show your ignorance to all.Hes been at the top of his game for FIFTY years...
detto sinceramente secondo me questo kata è fatto proprio male!! altro che 10° dan!!! ce n'è di migliori!! poi ho sempre sentito dire EMPI e non ENPI!...allenati!!
You're 18, and thus you could not possibly have the wealth of experience Kanazawa does to make such a claim. He's 10th dan NOW, but at the time of these videos he perhaps was not quite.
Master Kanazawa was 10th Dan at the filming of these videos back in the 80's. These videos are instructional only and therefore do not reflect his full power (otherwise, you couldn't see some of what he does). These videos were made at the founding of the SKA when Kanazawa left the JKA.
Well you see actually he is. So you would be better of speaking about things you know, rather than things you don't. It astounds me time and time again to see internet experts spouting rubbish about a man who is at the pinnacle of karate. Easier to diss a great man like this than try to follow in his foot steps I guess.
It has to be Enpi. In Japanese, N is the only consonant that can be by itself. All others follow the Ka Ki Ku Ke Ko, Ma Mi Mu Me Mo, pattern. If it was an M, it would have to be eMaPi. So, Enpi is correct.
if you like sensei Kanawaza then you really should see a) his son and b) sensei mirakami who used to always travel with him absolute genious with kicks and kumitie and i did empi for my first dan under kanawaza and when he tells you its good. it bloody well is lol
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there is only one 10th dan in the iskf and it not him sooo i don't know whta kind of karate he is doing but it' s not shodokan. or he is not a 10th dan.
what the fuck are you talking about? look it up, kid..kanazawa is one of the last living people who actually trained w/funakoshi..and yes he is a 10th dan
I Don't know who promoted him I'm just guessing that it was somebody in the shotokan system. But there are alot of 10th dan, Grandmaster Chul Hee Park of korea, and Grandmaster George Anderson in Akron OH, Founder of the Kwanmukan.
hi everyone.. i am studying shotokan for 17 years,3rd degree black belt..I first saw sensei kanazawa about 10 years ago.. anyone who knows karate, must be able to see why sensei kanazawa is so special.. if you can't probably you don t know karate. the movements, the harmony, the kime are so perfect together.. my sensei, told us some day: sensei kanazawa is not doing karate, he is karate.(personally i have trained with kancho about 20 times)and believe i have plenty stories about his inner energy
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
pretty good execution of the kata, i think it's the one he does best. but he has some slight problems to stay on the same height ^(he's moving up and down all the time). To sumn up: it's good, but there are better executions of the kata. (come on, he's 10th dan, he should be able to do better :P )
I was going to post some pretty vulgar things, but you know I'm not going to. I'll just say this, I think almost every one on this thread (myself included) could a lesson in dojo kun.
My Sensei trains at headquarters un Japan at least twice a year, and I asked him about this man, and he had nothing to say about him. By the by he is a 5th dan, and his technique looks so much better than this.
I agree with people always taking comments about this stuff too personaly, I myself am a 1st Kyu.
In response to what radijas said about he/she *KNOWS* all the katas till Enpi, like chimchim22 said, you may know the moves but you don't know the actual Kata, don't get too cockey at your level
I don't personaly know you, for all I know you may be a great karateka, but don't get ideas above your post!
My GUESS is, the apparent agressiveness of his moves, demonstrate focus. Its probably some meditation stuff. He starts slow, probably for better focus. His movements appear agressive, but, they're just well focused. Its close to the way Master Funakoshi did it.
Varying speed of techniques my friend. It's in Master Funakoshi's 20 Precepts. Fast and Slow techniques are necessary in doing kata. The same can be said for self defense on the street.
drkmaster is righ. Just because you can go through the motions of a kata by no means do you know the kata. The movement is nothing if you don't understand the fundamentals, and mechanics behind them

I feel accomplished yet also feel that I haven't even scratched the surface of MA.
shinobiwarrior1 2 years ago
nah, Enpi is a good deal less advanced (in my humble opinion :P) than Jion or Kanku Dai. I learned this kata a good deal before testing for my black belt, but then again, I had to preform ten or eleven katas for my black belt test. I'm testing in 6 months for my second dan, and im quite excited. (I will be preforming Sochin, Jion, Bassai Sho, Kanku Sho, and Tekki Sandan, i do believe.)
quadripedman 2 years ago
Well, good luck to you on your testing for second dan. I hope that I will be able to learn this kata as easily as the others. Train hard.
shinobiwarrior1 2 years ago
quadripedman excuse me, but what is your karate school name? Or karate federation?(if you are in). hard to believe that a 1st dan exam has to ten or eleven kata... it's uite impossible. No offences, but I study the traditional karate, and the modern karate(since I do a lot of competitions), and sadly a lot of school in America are destructing this art. No reasons to ask a brown belt ten to eleven kata for the first dan. It's not even showing that the studen is "good", it's just not necessary.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
Well I will not disrespect your Sensei, since I don't want people to disrecpect me aswell. But mmm your Sensei must have his reasons, but it's extremely strange, believe me. Doing this is not even showing that the student is "good", it's really not necessary for a 1st dan, really it is not. Are you sure you had to execute ten to eleven kata to obtain a 1st dan?
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
Well, its not like we had to learn 10 new ones between brown and black belt. we just did all of the previous katas (heians, tekis, enpi, chinte, bassi dai, kanku dai, and i do believe thats it.) that we had learned for the testing before black belt.
I am a member of the WKA (world karate association) and my sensi is Lori Stanley (she is actually president of the USWKA)
quadripedman 2 years ago
I agree. To get my black belt you only needed to know your basic kata and Bassai Dai as well as being able to efectively lead a warm up/ class and good sparing techniwue to obtain your 1st Dan.
beltgurl 2 years ago
ya beltgurl:). And Congratulation by the way.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago

ShotokanKarateRules 2 years ago
@ShotokanKarateRules that is how "we" do it?:) Excuse me but who is "we"?:) I think it vary from schools my friend;). Like I said in my message, I'm not here to judge any Sensei, and wathever they feel that their students need to show at an exam;). But what I know is, if your student is strictly folowwing the JKA rules(that is if he's member of the JKA), there are specific KIHON, KATA to do for Dan exams. But people can do wathever they want, because Karate is not a "religion". Ciao my friend.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
@SenseiShotokan
ShotokanKarateRules 2 years ago
@ShotokanKarateRules Oh ok I see.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
weird:D normally for the first dan, you need "to choose" one advanced kata:D and your Sensei will choose one random kata in the Heian. But I guess it vary from teachers and karate federations.... mmm but normally you are supposed to choose one advanced kata that you will present, not 3-4 kata.... unless you are passing the 3rd Dan and more.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
That is how we do it, SenseiShotokan.
ShotokanKarateRules 2 years ago
sometimes for the 1st Dan, the sensei will choose one random advanced kata for you to perform, and you choose one Heian of your choice. But I think in every cases, there is a part where you choose yourself depending of the sensei or the karate federation you are in. Anyway good luck.
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
Yeah i agree it may vary from teacher to teacher And organization. Previously before when we're in our kyu stages we had to perform all the kata below the belt including the grading kata. for black belt, we choose two of the advanced kata i.e. i chose hangetsu and enpi, once performed, they then give you another advanced usually kanku dai, and then a heian kata. i think what its for is because black belts nowadays are young its a test of fitness, olden days you wouldnt get black until like 40
rookie66 2 years ago
oh ok
SenseiShotokan 2 years ago
I know how you feel, i have my grading on sunday for black belt, its been a long time coming. black belt isnt the end but the beginning. have you learned hangetsu yet? its a nice kata, i chose it as one of the katas i have to do as a rest point kind of. i say kind of because if done correctly hangetsu can tire you out but just not like kanku dai(that one is a killer!!!)
rookie66 2 years ago
If you perform all 10 kata at full blast it really drains you. I can perform Bassai Dai, Kanku Dai, and Jion at full speed and it makes me pour sweat. Really great workout and physical conditioning though. Good luck with your black belt test!! I really hope you get it, I am sure you worked hard to earn it. Train hard and have a great day.

Ref the comments on TRUE karate I doubt very much that most people/schools in the west have any ideas as to what TRUE karate is but they do all have their own views as to what it is and everybody takes that as being the truth, there must be 100's of schools who teach TRUE karate and all of them have different views

@iggymydog sorry doggy but i wouldnt call anything 2-300yrs old "new " what has you being a blue belt got to do with anything? I dont understand, are you trying to tell me that because your a blue belt you are a master of knowledge when it comes to your schools history? every style has helped form another so anything that was ever called new was just a newer interpretation and mixture of something older

iggymydog 1 year ago
@bjfp7 The thing that is very important with Shotokan Karate is that we are required to learn our history in order to advance. Shotokan has stayed very traditional since its creation in 1936 by the late Gishin Funakoshi. That "guy" you are referring to is Master Kanazawa who prides himself on carrying on the old style it is actually from two different styles it combines the hard with the soft. I have to askmy Sensei what countries are involved. Okanawa, China, Japan and I believe one more.
tnabina 1 year ago
@bjfp7 it is fairly new it is about 200 years old compared to other forms of martial arts, but it is a mixture two styles that are antient
doccrusader 10 months ago
@bjfp7 Everything Karate-based is new compared to its primordial form. To-te.
HangetsuHozuki 7 months ago
@bjfp7 Shotokan started in 1922, was taught by Gichin Funakoshi and is one of the three principals styles in which karate-do developed in Okinawa (where karate-do was born); the other two styles are goju-ryu and shito-ryu. After this, karate has been altered in lot of different ways and that's the reason why, nowadays, we can find more than 300 different styles.
For people who practise karate, I think you all should have an idea of where karate comes from, but that's just my opinion.

Smith was stopped competing because in Mexico city he destroyed a JKA b.b. from Japan. Humble? Liars!

Whilst the practioner looks impressive, one must remember that this is being do to garner more publicity. It really bears no relevance to actual application. The kata must be done with as little resistance and a natural as walking. Too much emphasis performance and style. I have written to Kanazawa to correct these fatal flaws in the kata.
frankvanqueens 3 years ago
You must think you know more than anybody about karate...
IF YOU RECIEVE an answer from Sensei Kanzawa, post it please below this video... If you do not even recieve any answer, why do not you think about your moral values, encouraged by karate, such as being humble, etc.
My best wishes.
Oss
Wolfeugene 3 years ago
Since you didn't reply to one thing that I wrote, it proves that I am correct! Shotokan was developed for schools to have a form of gymnastics. There are no weapons taught, no strikes to kill or maim, and Funakoshi taught for money! So no matter how much in awe you are of the practioner, you know absolutely nothing about true Karate. Your idol worship is horrible, because it clouds your understanding of Karate. Against a determined foe, Kanazawa would lose, and I have told him so!
frankvanqueens 3 years ago
you know absolutely nothing about true karate if you have to speak like that, kanazawa has faced several determined foes, he was even kumite world champion, shotokan is a fairly new style so of course the emphasis was not on weapons but they do practice with bo, tonfa, sai, and kama.
the only person that could find flaw in his technique is someone that decided before seeing him perform that they would find one.

Master Kanazawa was 10th Dan at the filming of these videos back in the 80's. These videos are instructional only and therefore do not reflect his full power (otherwise, you couldn't see some of what he does). These videos were made at the founding of the SKA when Kanazawa left the JKA.

It has to be Enpi. In Japanese, N is the only consonant that can be by itself. All others follow the Ka Ki Ku Ke Ko, Ma Mi Mu Me Mo, pattern. If it was an M, it would have to be eMaPi. So, Enpi is correct.

What does "10th dan tsuki" look like ? I think you've never seen anyone near this level of mastery and you're talking rubbish.

drkmaster is righ. Just because you can go through the motions of a kata by no means do you know the kata. The movement is nothing if you don't understand the fundamentals, and mechanics behind them
