Listen, Little Knut, what I ask you would you exchange horses with me? Well, were I to exchange horses with you: then I'd take your daughter in exchange Should my daughter not be better wed? I'd rather dress her in horse's hide Knut the Small stands up from the king's table Oh surely would I revenge those words He patted the covers with gloved hand Surely you recognize Knut the Small, your betrothed The king let it be shouted all over the farm
Dress youselves, hirdmen, in blue mailshirts Knut the Small hacked till he was tired Till the blood stood higher than silver buckled shoe Knut the Small came riding back to the farm, The king stands waiting for him outside Knut the Small, still your silver-bowed sword I give you my daughter, you are worthy of her
I dig this song... like Rammstein when I was a child, it appears that the beauty and wonder is significantly augmented by the fact that the lyrics cannot be understood.
The language is ancient Norwegian, aka. the language from which Icelandic evolved from. This is probably closer to modern day Icelandic than it is to Norwegian :)
@NeamaMusic not true, this is Nynorsk (literally New Norwegian), the second official (written) language in Norway. Still in use every day today, but it was "created" by Ivar Aasen as an alternative written language for the various dialects to keep the "ancient" Norwegian language heritage
I love music made up from niche dialects...it's just beyond epic and has a very mysterious aura about it which sends you into a sorta trance or something...it's songs like these, you don't need drugs to be high ^_^ .
@spincr True enough. Still, personally, put me on some good music for 15 minutes. You'd think i was on acid, or stoned out my face. All i've taken is a dose of ear-candy and a jug of energy.
I'm Chinese and I don't speak any Norwegian, but this track actually sounds very awesome, uplifting beat with an exotic melody and a strong vocal singing in a refreshing language. I like it.
I knew it didn't sound like Swedish, I'm not well aware of Danish but had a feeling it wasn't Danish either (which means it can't be Faeroese either). I was hesitant on the Norwegian bit, most of my money was riding on Icelandic. But anyway, no matter, Norwegian is still Scandinavian - and I love everything Scandinavian :-p.

i still think this track isn't a The Blizzard's production.. =S it's so rare.. what happens whit the sound of Kalopsia, the remix of Andy Moor's Fake Awake, Envio's For You??? what the hell happen whith The Blizzard??? the worst production of these guy =S
It's definitely made by The Blizzard, they've played it a couple of times on their monthly radio show on RadioVolum. I guess they wanted to try something different, but I also think Kalopsia is better. This is still a great track tho. :D
haha they try something new.. this is a remix off norwegian folk music and trance.. and if u ask me they did it well.. u go try mixing some folk music with uplifting trance :P its hard
"Hi all, we're excited to finally announce a new singel from The Blizzard. We have co-operated with a famous Norwegian band called "Gaate" and made a really dark, mysterious and progressive tune. The vocals are in Norwegian. Hopefully you will think it's something new and special."
message me so i can share ya the mediafire link.. really cool tune..blizzard own as always.. i feel shame i cant understand what iselilja means..anyone know?
"The meaning of the word Iselilja is uncertain. When asked in an interview, Gunnhild Sundli (vocalist for Gåte) and Sveinung Sundli (fiddle, keyboards) said that they themselves do not know its exact meaning. A translation that has been suggested is Ice-lily (because Is translates as Ice, and lilja is similar to lilje, which translates as lily), however it is also possible that Iselilja is a name (probably female), and has no meaning."
