@dotcake there are lots of different ways you can sing, and you can manipulate your voice to do lots of different things, the way Amy uses her voice in this song really brings out the pain and anguish in it, emphasizing the emotions she's trying to portray. Imagine if she sang the same way she did in this song, to sing a really happy, bubbly song - it just wouldn't work. You change your voice to suit the lyrics and the melody and feel/texture of the song

I once was told by my sister who used to be in bad situations of being used and more... that she one day wanted to end her life badly but the thought of me standing over her grave wondering why stopped her. I become thankful to God that this song is simply a reminder of what could have happened not a reality of grief/longing to be where she was. Things really have changed, she's happy and getting married in 2 months ^_^
