This sequence isn't done very well. It could be so much more horrific. For instance, there should be constant screams and sobbing, begging, etc, echoing through the facility from all the people being mutiliated before and after you.

Like, imagine if you saw the person on the cart in front of you going 'OH NO, NO NO NO NO NO NOAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!­!!' as the saw blade came down and took their legs off.

If your character stripling wasn't always the exact same 5 seconds loop over and over, and if they hand more than one scream, it would already make you get a lot more into it.

Because those tho things I've named are really what stops me from beleiving to this scene...

Aside from that, the room is far too well lit, and neither you or the player character react like anybody would.

Some music wouldn't hurt either.

Uhm... no. A person isn't born or made a marine. A person is trained into a marine. And yea, there's some pretty brutal training involved. But since marine training doesn't involve being mutilated I doubt there's anything which prepares them for the pain of having their legs removed with a circular saw. >_>

The in-game explanation is that he's heavily sedated. Yep, worst of both worlds. Not enough sedation to be knocked out or not feel pain, but just enough that he can't move while the whole thing is happening. Being strapped down would be freaky, but even worse is the idea that he should be able to just hop up and walk away... BUT HE CAN'T!!!!!

A really great campaign. Not like the shitty Q3 single player mission, where there was NO story whatsoever. Here we have a nice story, great voice-acting, awesome atmosphere etc. etc. I'm looking forward to seeing the next Quake and hopefully he will continue the story from this one (which is, if I'm not mistaken, a continuation of Q2), for it ended quite promising and with an opened ending. I'm pretty sure that along Rage and Doom 4 with id tech 5 there will also be Q5. ;)
