Actually the song isn't by Jimi Hendrix. Billy Roberts was the first to record it, but it was a popular song long before he recorded it. It was black mans blues, and the origonaly author probably was black. Jimi did the song to boost his popularity in England at the start of his career. At the time the song was very popular there.
