  • I believe this also was the first flight of the redesigned (after the Apollo 1 fire) command module.

  • Well done!

  • Thanks!

  • Never got to see a Saturn V launch but several Shuttle launches from the press site... and that chest-pounding staccato experience was right on the mark... about 7-million lbs of thrust 3 miles away... that is one heck of a fireworks display!

  • excellent photos

  • Photos are on the Contact Light site and from JL who is a great source for those hard to get pics.

  • I recall that Apollo 4 was launched before a complete noise and water suppression system was installed in the flame trench and LUT. This resulted in windows being broken several miles from the pad. The complete supression system was in place for Apollo 6. I've been told the Saturn V created a very low frequency, staccato pounding that could be felt in your chest as you watched the launch.

  • @aratarUK you are welcome!

  • First time I've ever seen that. Thank you :)

  • 'MY GOD, OUR BUILDING'S SHAKING HERE!! OUR BUILDING'S SHAKING!!'

  • @ceredigio and one of the greatest commentaries in the space programme had just been born!

  • i like this archive pictures but we can not seem this in europe before!!

    thank you ver much!!

  • Wow! Thanks for posting! :-)

  • However, I noticed part of an ABC News intro with the voice of that network's staff announcer, Carl Caruso. (CBS News' announcer at the time was Harry Kramer.)

  • Just wow, Cronkite seems as excited as everyone was and it showed.

  • Another great upload - thanks so much !

  • Youre welcome Pat

  • "Look at that rocket go!!!"

  • Thanks for posting all this stuff. I was born too late to see all this live. It must have been amazing to grow up in an era where anything seemed possible and people supported the space program. It's a shame that nowadays people don;t realize the return on investment from programs like Apollo.

  • I wish America still had the same attitude about space as we did in the 60s. I've grown up about 60 miles from the cape, and I'm the only one I know who never misses a launch, it seems like people don't even care about it anymore :(

  • @rockfilmers Some of us would love tpo see every launch, rock! keep watching them foir us all!

  • @lunarmodule5 There is an Atlas 5 launch in November, I know that you mostly put up historic videos, but if I gave it to you, would you upload it here?

  • @rockfilmers I can get the launches coming up in good quality WMV - I will start to post some "later" launches at some point. Remind me after the launch and I will see what I can do. ok?

  • @lunarmodule5 alright, sounds good. Just thought I would let you know :) nobody would watch them on my channel, but you have a decent following.

  • @lunarmodule5 And there is also a Falcon 9 launch just 5 days later

  • @rockfilmers I think the Falcon 9 launch is delayed till February now because of the Soyuz trouble.

  • lovely photos and nice clear audio - thanks

  • @quantumn0ise thanks for the comment - appreciated

  • TRUE HISTORY!
