  • im not sure that is the rtm cause if u look when they went in the cutomiztion windows 7 is in aero theme and windows 7 theme is in my themes

  • Lol dude, RTM has few fix and stuff that RC and beta doesnt have and wont have from Windows Update, RTM is almost exactly as your RC

  • i wasnt using rc i was using rtm

  • Can anyone please help me. WIndows 7 will not install on my Acer 5920G. It goes through most of the installation but then shutsdown. I think it messes up on classpnp.sys. I just get a black screen with a cursor. Please pm me.

  • that was a bit short but good

  • Microsoft is giving it away free till it is released cause they know how bad they fucked up with Vista. Many people including myself dropped them permanently and went to Linux. Google is going Linux too. They know whats up.

  • What made you think they're passing out windows 7 for free? The only free version is RC1.

  • i came

  • i tested windows 7 and its very faster. like running windows xp, super smarter it detects any kind of hardware and installs them quickly, very advanced and smooth/pretty

  • What the hell I could do all this stuff in Windows XP. I still prefer 7 but it's obviously just Vista the way it was suppost to be.

  • Yep, and XP is still faster on the slower PC's :)

  • Fluck Windows. Linux Forever!

  • She should have said we are trying to sell Vista back to you in a new box. M$ is slowly dying.

  • Slowly dying? Linux is barely alive with 1.05% market share.

  • There is no way of knowing that for sure anyhow, No one has to pay for it so nobody has a record of linux users.

  • Yeah it's called download census. Anywho windows 7 is the absolute best, unlike that bloated pile of .... Vista, which I have to maintain each day to keep running at a fast speed

  • lol

  • OS X 10.5 is far beyond Windows 7, you can't deny it. But, Windows has some little things that I prefer over OS X and they are all related to the Windows Explorer. If there's one thing that Apple need to redesign, and not just recode like they did in 10.6, it's the Finder.

Sorry OS X fans, Windows Explorer own the Finder in many ways: meta-data management, the various display modes, the way you interact with files...

Ok, the Finder has Cover Flow. Aside from shiny, does it really do something?

  • Leopard isn't beyond windows at all actually.

  • Ho yes?

    1. There's isn't 100 ways of writing a GUI app. There's 1 major API and others wrapper are there only for portability issue. On Windows there's Win32, MFC, .NET, WPF and third parties APIs and none of them have the same set of features.

    2. OS X also have a better processor management; Moving threads periodically from one core to an other to lower the CPU temperature.

    3. It use an "new" partition system (GUID based) that only Windows Server 2008 R2 support for boot.

    Should I continue?

  • 1. Micorsoft will be bringing Multi-touch to desktop and notebook computer spaces.

    2. In Windows 7 devices can join a network with a single click and settings such as printers - are carried over automatically.

    3. With windows, you can actually play games. You are able to easily customize the hardware on your pc for a reasonable price.

You seem like a fanboy while I was just saying that OSX isn't "beyond windows"

  • OS X already have multi touch support and 13 million computers in the world already use it (yes, I'm talking about the iPhone which use OS X).

OS X automatically detect printers over the network. You just plug your computer in (or connect to the wifi network) and you're done.

The top 3 most popular games ever are running on OS X. There's also many games like Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress that work very nicely.

Macs use the same hardware as PCs so there's no customization issues.

  • 1. Read my comment. Multi touch to DESKTOP AND NOTEBOOK COMPUTER SPACES. Unless you're running a mobile version of OSX, shut up.

    2. It's easier in windows 7, just live with that.

    3. All these games perform way better on pc's. There are no macs that have my harware specs.

Do you know what customization is? That is basically referring to upgrading parts for the pc. That includes motherboards, processors, graphics cards, etc,

  • 1. I'd like to remind you that even Windows XP has touchscreen support and that ever since, Tablet PC computer never sold very well.

    2. What kind of argument is that? Can't you prove it just for once?

    3. There's no mac with your hardware specs? Ok, what about a Mac Pro with two Xeon W5550 with 16 GB of RAM, two 128 GB SSD, and one GTX 285? That system boot in about 15 seconds and is the 6 most powerful system in the world. Now do your job on google and look at how fast those CPU are...

  • I don't know if you realize but, we're talking about the grand grand grand son of G5 which was used to build a super computer that was ranked third world fastest in 2003 with only 1100 of them.

The current Mac Pro is about 7 times faster than the G5. Right now, the only computers that can compete with that is a 8 CPU AMD Opteron machine.

  • Can you comprehend the english language?

    1. I said MULTI-TOUCH TO DESKTOP AND NOTEBOOK COMPUTER SPACES. It brings multi-touch to desktops which has yet to be done. I was hoping the caps would get your attention. :)

    2. I listed how it was better in my first post.

    3. Mines is better for gaming with an overclocked core i7 extreme, 2x 1 TB HDD, 24GB RAM, and dual GeForece GTX295's. Not to mention I can install a blu ray drive. lol

Why did you stop comparing macs in my last 2 points?

  • 1. You never used a MacBook, didn't you? They have TWO FINGERS scrolling since about 4 years and up to 4 finger gestures since more than 2 years. That put Windows 7 2 years and a half late. Of course, you never said it has to have to be directly on the screen! But who care, it just cost more and give nothing interesting. (I used various tablet PC during the last 2 years and they are all crap and full of glitches. Also, the HP touch-smart has nothing to say about ergonomic posture...)

  • 2. I seriously don't know what is easier than turning the wifi card on and let the OS do the rest... If you can prove me wrong, I invite you to show me a video of it. There's one thing you'll never be able to beat and that's doing it with 2 clicks or less (don't try to cheat by using the keyboard ;-) ).

  • 3. Are you sure that a SINGLE core i7 extreme (even overclocked) is faster than TWO? Because that's what those Xeon are! 24 GB? Isn't that the MAXIMUM that you can put on a LGA1366 motherboard?

There was a trap here. The Mac Pro support 32 GB and if I'm right, you can get an Xserve which go up to 48 or 64 GB! SLI? The Mac Pro support it with modified drivers, as the GTX 295...

Basically, I just named a mid range config and you tell me than THAT's the best you can have? Not impressed. Sorry...

  • oh woow, you can modify drivers to use SLI? Whats the point when you have such limited games? That's actually not the best PC's get either. it's just something that can run whatever I throw at it.

  • A video of network discovery? I don't have all the time in the day as you. How bored are Apple fanboys to come troll a windows vid? Makes me ashamed every time I use one.

  • I'll do both if you want. I don't really care and I have anything that I need. But of course, if I do the Windows part, you might think that I edited the video so that OS X win :P That's why I offered it to you.

No seriously, just tell me how it can be easier than plug-the-network-cable? You don't have to be sure both computer has the same workgroup (as it doesn't exist on OS X) and with Mobile Me, you can even access all your mac over a WAN connection, without any configuration; APF and VNC.

  • You can make a video if you want I guess, seems a little strange.... Basically with Windows 7, you plug in the network card and connect. I had it running in about 10 seconds within logging in. You can go ahead and make your little video I guess though. Your fanboyism won't cloud my views.

  • OK I'll do that later today.

Wow, that last sentence sounded like if it was some kind of religious fight we got here XD

  • Indeed. Indeed. Do you have 7 installed?

  • Yes in VMware. I used it extensively since build 7000. I need Windows for my study since we use Visual Studio 2008 and Office 2007.

  • OMG this conversation span over 3 pages and 4 different users. Anyway, I've decided to start a screen-cast to compare some basic features between OS X and Windows 7. I started with basic networking to settle this discussion and will then move over different part of both OS. You can see the video at watch?v=Wh-TDH63rq4

I didn't do this to bash Windows but I did wanted to show that OS X provided more features and make them easier to use than Windows when we talk about file and screen sharing.

  • While you may prefer some things that are in OSX, it just comes down to user preference. OSX has many things over Windows and it's also true the other way around. Thats why I prefer to use both honestly. Nice vid btw, your pretty good.

  • It's the first time I use Adobe After Effects and Premiere. Even if I always detested the GUI in Adobe softwares but those are pretty well done. Anyway, about the user preferences things, It's totally true, I don't remember why but there's a comment where I said that I preferred the Windows Explorer over the finder because the finder is full of eye-candy-not-really-useful feature like cover flow. But I do prefer quick look over the preview pane of Vista/7.

  • That was just said out of desperation... pathetic. I'm just about done with you.

  • yeah too bad a mac cost 2x-3x more than it should. I had Os X on my pc, and I have to say, not that impressed, actually really disappointed, I will stick to Windows thank you.

Oh and I have used a recent mac before, it ran Os X just as fast, and still not impressive.

  • It's more a question of stability than speed right now. My the Mac in my room have an uptime of over one month. I never managed to do that with a PC for various reasons (noise, crashes, updates, ...)

An Mac's doesn't cost more than PC's. For instance, the Mac Mini is the same price as a slower Dell computer. An equivalent computer to the low end dual cpu Mac Pro cost about $9 000 if you get it from Dell. The MacBook Pro is the more robust laptop available and start at $1 200.

  • When I read myself back I can only see that it's 2h in the morning here ...

  • I know for a fact that in the past 30 days Apple has released udates for Os X 10.5. Do NOT think your bullshit can get past me.

I can tell you right now you are getting those numbers from the most expensive and outrageous things. And I am not here to defend OEMs that overprice their hardware, Custom building a mac pro would be around 900-1000, whats its starting price? what is its price with all of its features? forget about it. You are just a blindly loyal fanboy.

  • If you can bug a Mac Pro for that price, I want it. Here's with $1000 you can't even get one of the CPU (Intel Xeon X5550) and there's 2 in the Mac Pro.

Yes, there where an update recently but those are service pack and not just plain hot-fix like those Microsoft release EVERY thursday which generally fix one or two issues at a time.

No I'm not the fanboy of anyone. It just happen that right now, there's nothing that can surpass those. I'm not stupid enough to pay $5000+ for a trash computer.

  • 1. Thanks for helping my argument that macs are overpriced

    2. I don't care if it was an update that added a wallpaper, or installed a entirely new operating system, your system uptime story was bullcrap, that was what my point was. Why should anyone beleive your far fetched get a mac stories.

    3. Oh I had no idea that the exact hardware from pc's is supperior with the apple logo on it. I will leave you alone with your GREAT logic.

  • the best thing about windows 7 is latika...when can she be maried?

  • The intention of an OS is to provide a buffer between hardware and software, not provide the user with cool "new" features that you can find in 3rd programs already created. If your first priority in choosing an OS is not compatibility with what you want to use it with then you are sorely mistaken in my opinion.

  • but my mac did this years ago

  • Oi guys, we have a comedian here!

Mac ll never get that far.

  • I am just saying that all the "new features" of windows 7 have been implemented in Mac OS X over the last couple years. My linux box can also do all of this. And what do you mean Mac will never get that far? My mac and my linux box can do far more far better than your windows pc, guarantee it.

  • I would really like to avoid going way back in the past to figure out who made what. The point is that in the whole, its a far better OS. Mac lacks with software. And what about games? You will never do hardcore gaming on your machine. Have you ever tried the OS in hand? It redefines the meaning of "personal computer". Userfriendly, fast, looks neat.

  • Believe it or not I can run most, if not all PC games on a Mac, there is software to do that. And it runs perfectly. My friend has Crysis running on his MacBook Pro. And yes, I have tried Windows 7, I have had it since beta, up through RC's and the RTM. I think it is a great improvement over vista and agree that it is faster and more userfriendly than Vista. What I want to know is have you spent a lot of time with a Mac or linux, and actually been able to judge it properly?

  • Yes, but thats what i mean. Why should anyone want to "tweak" the system to get what they want, if they can get it without any hassle what so ever. Never tried Linux though, my knowledge about it is based on everyones (friends) feedback which tends to be negative.

  • It's not really a tweak... it's just a piece of software. Mac games are started to be more common also. For the most part though. My Mac does everything I want out of the box... So... less tweaking than windows... Linux i great tho :D

  • There u go.

It all depends on the user.

You cant change my opinion about these OSs and vice versa. If it does what u want out of the box, then its cool. Didnt in my case.

  • Let me know when SP1 has arrived....yawn

  • Mac sucks balls

i hate u mac users saying ur OS is always the best....

    and linux??

hah its sooo bad its free..

  • @maniaslayer9 i predict that in 2012 The Macs Will Take over the World and we will fight Back with our Awesome PC's

  • @Windows7UIRocks

    lol wow

    yea probably...

  • @maniaslayer9 Windows 7 Farts in the Face of Mac OS X

  • @Windows7UIRocks

    yep

    Mac sucks

I would expect MUCH much more at the price it's at
