BTCC 1998

It was 2000 or 2001 when I was first introduced to the British Touring Car Championship. Seeing this 1998 video makes me wish I became a racing fan much earlier and was living in England. Lot of these cars I can recall seeing in Gran Turismo 2 (from Racing Modifications) and ToCA World Touring Cars ("Jarrett and LaBonte Stock Car Racing" to us Americans). Great video!

God I miss 90's BTCC, when it was a professional championship with proper saloon cars, not a load of amateurs in boy racer hatchbacks. That race at Donnington with Mansell was one of the best touring car races ever.

I'm 16 yrs old and ive been watching the btcc for 2yrs now, so the only way i can see btcc races from this era is through youtube. I'll admit that this was probably the btcc's greatest era it doesnt mean that todays races are in any way crap or boring, the btcc is still the most exciting motorsport championship

I fixed the quality now. i tried to get rid of the black borders before but quality was bad so i fixed them back to standard format to improve quality .

Love TOCA 2, this video reminds me of the many hours playing it.

Ye, I had all the possible BTCC cars in my garage in Gran Tuismo 2. They wern't as fun to drive as in TOCA 2. I love BTCC, shame there are not many manufacturers as there were in the 90s. Same with Rallying now

Interestingly enough, I found out some of the different BTCC cars in 1998 are featured in Gran Turismo 2 with the Racing Modifications. Look up some of the 1998 BTCC cars with the Renault Laguna, Peugeot 406, Nissan Primera, and Honda Accord among others. Cool music in this video for the highlights. I dig those beats. This is a lovely video.
