  • this is f**king awesome, dude, well crafted

  • Someone had waaaayyy too much time on their hands...

  • Awsome! Well done.

  • @Lamboragon Its modelled in 3ds Max and is an edit poly model, so no true curvature or tangency. Because I want to make it I need to remodel it using a NURBS program such as Rhino/Alias.

  • @Lamboragon Google Images "Alias is terrible" the very first picture is mine.

  • @Lamboragon Also I know my car is fairly good because if you follow the thread you would see that the fellow posters would have shot me down in flames if it wasn't, but they just went quiet.

  • @Lamboragon Also you need to work on the front of the car, but that is technically difficult, but the wheel arch is easy to get right. My WIP has my name at the bottom and Render Date 28th June 2010. It has its faults but it is comparable to cars on the road. I too am an engineer and want to design and build my own car.

  • @Lamboragon Patrick look at the rear wheel-arch of the Porsche you have drawn and compare it to the actual car, you haven't even maintained curvature working with NURBS! The rest of your cars are pretty poorly modelled. In addition to that, the way you have rendered them seems to be to hide as much of the surfaces as possible. Hell my Work in progress test-render is better than your finished? work.

  • @Lamboragon Lamboragon You have spammed virtually every Solidworks video with the same comment. You fail to read what I say. You don't know about what it is that you are talking, you probably can't even use Alias, although I admire the fact that you didn't try and pass someone else's work off as your own.

What relevance is this "..best car designers follow blueprints / 2D sketches right? That is apart of..." ? I just said its very easy to copy from blueprints which it is.

  • @Lamboragon Copying other peoples work using a computer is extremely easy because you just trace over the blue-prints.

  • @Lamboragon I know I'm not in denial at all. I have seen his work on CG talk. Both the BMW and the Audi are really easy to model, I know this because I have modelled both of them. He hasn't even modelled the wind-screen wipers.

Bogdan Urdea on the other hand has modelled a porsche that is technically difficult. You should have submitted him as an example.

  • @Lamboragon Quality model, but its no better than mine. In any case he has copied someone else's design, not designed his own car.

  • @Lamboragon There is a Test-render (using Vray) of my car design on the Autodesk Alias forum under the heading Alias is terrible. I didn't start the thread lol.

Google "Alias is terrible" then look for an attachment on one of the posts.

  • @Lamboragon LOL I use 3ds Max professionally, I know Vray. Whilst 3ds Max is for a completely different purpose its UI is Gorgeous. I will always hate Alias's UI because I am constantly comparing to the best UI EVER!

I agree the sufaces in this vid don't have any continuity, but I have seen cars modelled in Solidworks that do. Ultimately its about the person in the driving seat, but you seem to be judging solidworks based on this vid alone. Of course Alias is better at surfacing at the moment.

  • @Lamboragon "Based on what? This render looks like garbage, and the surfaces are just awful." Are you saying that this video represents the very best that solidworks can achieve? Actually solidworks 2010 and perhaps older can do curvature combs. You have to be in edit sketch mode and then right click on the curve to display the tool. Solidworks can also perform tangency and curvature to existing surfaces, although the method to do so is a bit hidden away for my liking.

  • @Lamboragon Also in many respects Solidworks is better than Pro-E. Pro-E's file directory system even in wildfire 4 can't read white space characters properly. This makes it necessary to remove spaces from file names created in other applications. Pro-e wildfire 4 lacks an array/pattern tool in the sketcher which is irritating.

  • @Lamboragon Although having said that, I doubt that you know how to use Solidworks properly anyway.

  • @Lamboragon Rhino has a great User-interface which just goes to prove that the User-interface DOESN'T need to be complicated and thus proves you to be the idiot that you are. No I didn't take "Calculus III" but how is that relevant?

  • @Lamboragon LOL. Why do I use Alias Automotive? The UI doesn't need to be complicated, its because I can use the UI that I know that it IS shit. Indeed, it is because I can use lots of 3D programmes that I have a basis with which to compare it. I said that it was a shame that Solidworks lacked the surfacing-features of Alias which should make it perfectly fucking obvious that I wasn't saying that Solidworks was better at surfacing. I Said Alias's User interface was shit, which it is.

  • @Lamboragon "Just because the UI isn't intuitive doesn't mean it is bad" Actually it does. However its shit for other reasons to.

    Alias doesn't do things consistently.

Two keys have to be pressed simultaneously and then the mouse buttons to access the three different menus. Similar problem with view-port tumble. The menu options are static and don't change to match applicable tasks. You have to select a pick nothing icon to deselect. the list goes on.

The History is poorly thought out if

  • @Lamboragon Not a very good analogy because the UI in ALIAS is utter shite. Solidworks is very intuitive and has a great UI, its just a shame that it lacks the surfacing features that Alias has. MS Paint is just shit.

  • kewl vid,,,,great song,,,fun software.

  • nice harmonica playing

  • How much is this program is so awsome

  • @grip2010dc it's pretty expensive due to the fact it's an industrial application, however there are student licences you can purchase, or do a design degree like me and you get it for free :D

  • awesome!

  • so we can create an animations with the Solidworks more easy from the Cinma 4d ??

  • if that was a video game i would totally play it dude

  • Comment removed

  • WHOW! i really really liked the vid! LIKELIKELIKE!~!

  • 3ds max 4lyf!

  • ....Damn, that was real good!!....*Jealous* xD

  • Dude that is awsome , we use solidWorks in school but you are so much better than my treacher , greetings from belgium

  • amazing job !!!!!! my congratulatios exept pro engeneer you use and other programs for the efects?

  • Everything great, but the animation, particle effects and so are very poor. I understand that is not 3d studio with Vray, but... what a render!!!

  • GO GO Gadget: 3D sketch, Smart Mates, Smart Fill, Multi-Bodies.......... LOL

  • Make rocket and agressor coincident :D

  • really liked the in car solidworks stuff. All round great modeling and animation, great job!

  • wow can u let things move!

and how u change the collor in epic style

it doesnt look shiny when i do it

  • how long did that take? must have taken forever

  • awesome.....speaking from a CAD operator who then trained in Solidworks and was then made redundant....

  • Rockin video. Very creative. Pleaure to watch. Musical score is perfect. Thanks for time and effort.

  • lmao! this is awesome... that would definitely be the ultimate aston martin. I wish i was 1/10 as good as the person who made this.

  • Am i correct when i say solidworks comes filled with powerfull utilitys right out of the box? It seems with autodesk inventor they make it so you have to buy 4 of their seprate programs for just to a decent render do complex moddling ect, Autodesk have like 50 thems and 4 sub programs for them bases, hedache much...?. Does SW come with decent tools out of the box or do i have to import/export to maya ect... and why use CAD 3d and not somthing liek bllender,?

  • OH MY GOD its amazing realy no comment

  • best solid works video ever!

  • How long did the model take...that would have taken years in unigraphics

  • Wow. How long did you render it? :)

  • wow dear whata work

  • make solidoworks for mac!

  • @pristinepicture really now....partition your harddrive

  • the dbs is better

  • Does solid works allow you to render that icey ground and the background? I'm an avid Inventor user who's more interested in 3d art production and if solidworks offers something like this I'd switch in a heartbeat

  • engaging smartmate feature hahaha!

  • that was sweet!

  • I bet this animation wasn't done using solidworks

the software on the screen of the car is solidworks but this doesn't mean that the animation is made using solidworks

  • @mos3ad2006

i'm sorry, i posted this comment before watching the end of the video

  • Wow...SolidWorks truly is amazing! I'm so glad I'm learning it.

  • This is just too damn good. Design, ideas and a whole lot of rendering time :D

  • Some one had too much time on their hands.

  • Did I tell you not to drive my car....

  • Cool

  • adobe after effects..

  • nice work .>>>>>>

  • what is this cartoon network

  • is this the cartoon network

  • I would like to know how much time you taked to make all that, the cars, the animation ...it's crazy man ! Good job !

  • That has to be the coolest cad vid ever! Totally loved it.

  • lol, how can a F-117 armed with precision guided munition possible miss...

  • music was driving me mental change that shit

  • Like you know music?

Use your volume knob and keep your complaints to yourself.

  • @broncobear1 You dont know who I am or what I know about music so shut up dickhead and I will say and do whatever I want you cunt

  • Piss off bitch

  • Awesome!

  • TAB is the best :D

  • 2 words: Get lost!

  • I don't think he could do that while driving lol

  • hhmmm.....Nah.

  • LAME

  • You may be surprised as to how much you can squeeze into a car without interfering with the engine.

  • Guess James Bond only need 10horsepowers, bc where in the fuk would all of that stuff fits in?

  • I laughed so hard the first time I watched this awesome video, XD Solidworks is the 007 of other cad software.

  • 2 words: NO WAY!

  • Good job.

  • No way dude, thats catia

  • Were all these modeled in SolidWorks along with the animation?? Very impressive!

  • Die Rakete ist ein bissele klein :)

  • Niemals wurde das Video mit Solid Works erstellt. Die Teile modelliert - vielleicht schon. Gerendert wurde mit 3dsMax oder ähnlich!

  • I don't have a clue how to use Solid Works, but they use it at my work...but this was great vid....the music and everything worked great together.

    Great Job...

  • fucking perfect....

  • fucking brilliant!!!

  • very clever with the functionalities. i like the end. no shadows in shaded. lol!!!

  • weird and good the same time, the music its shit......

  • I have spent countless hours designing machinery in solidworks, and I fully understand the amount of work that you must have put into this to get models that look that realistic. Amazing job!

  • shoulda made 007 slip at the end lol other than that...amazing!

  • This is almost impossible to make on solidworks. I say that because the effort required to make this on a program like Max way to little as compared to SW.

This is unbelievably great, you must have defined a million relations to get the model fully defined.

  • yea. they musta spent days on the animation alone! this is rediculus

  • Bro, U rock!

  • Nice work. Hey, what's the cool song you have playing in the clip. Thanks.

  • bueno, pero nada supera a autodesk, 3dsmax and inventor

  • !!!!!!

after playing around with SW i can now understand what this is all about...EXCELLENT !!!

    Must model myself one of those INTERCEPTORS !!!! :) :) :) :) :)

  • way too coll!!!!

  • Great video!!!!

  • Autodesk Alias Design rules... Have you ever tried to design such shapes with SW??

  • unbe-flippin'-lievable!

  • Hi bro. I am making some classes of Autocad and in the same place they teach "solidworks". I didn't knew what was about untill i c your video. Very interesting. I will probably go 4 that too. ^^

  • haha 3D sketch rocket trajectory!! ... Coincidence trajectory!! classic. We are SW nerds but I think you're the coolest king of the nerds.

  • wow- u made this in solidworks? how did u animate it?

  • yooo, nice vid. you just built a castle into the cliffs. instant web classic. nice work

  • hey does anybody know where i can download catia v5 because i really want it

  • wow man that blew me away. very nice work!

  • render time?

  • had A though day at office? to make this, you need atleast a though MONTH xD

  • how about a year..

  • yeah, more like it ;p

  • hahaha, this is epic. nice work!

  • good !!!! & the music whi is the artist? sayyyyyyyyyyyyy please

  • Hi, The Artist: Iota

    The Music: The Opiate Blues.

  • @kachispirina dude it says it just under the video with a little music symbol ¬.¬

  • Wow!! It's great that all of this was done with the use of Solidworks. There's so many solid modeling programs out there (ProE, Catia, AutoCad, 3D Studio Viz,....) that you be amazed at the possibilities of what each can do. Great use of creativity by the user!

  • This movie there's anyone notion of phisics... LOL

The render is good.. but the script...

    Regards.

  • Yes, it's a engineering software, it's a 3D software.

Just get it guys; this software do got the ability to make animations like this.

    I use it myself.

    Anyway, nice vid and lol

  • its a program haha

  • no its a film

  • mega lol...

  • ROFL

  • This is not fake.

SolidWorks is a Mechanical Computer aided Design in 3D. The animation with solidworks is a marketing material of software, no related of 007 film.

  • liar

  • It's a software used by mechanical engineers. MORON!

  • i think you are the moron retardboy499.

    i love you

    will you be my friend

  • You really are retarded arent you?

  • solidworks is a desugn software program

    not a person or film

  • what other films has solidworks been in? i dont understand how can computers be actors

    CGI i reckon

  • @danzu87 LOL ofcourse its not a new bond film.. lol.. 3d animation.. are you retarted

  • jezuuuuuz!! ahahahaahhaahahaahahaahahaha Are you getting high on SW?!

  • hey this is a very beginner question but how do you sketch a semi circle in solidworks, i tried cutting a circle in half but that leaves me with an arc, and i tried connecting the endpoints of an arc with a line first by hand and then also by merging but they're seen as two seperate entities...is there another feature i havent seen or is there a simple way to do it? thanks

  • This is great. GJ!

"make rocket and aggressor coincident" LOL!!!

  • well done! I bet this took a while to do?

i love solidworks but have no idea how to use it to this extent hehe

  • Lol, and to think were using solidoworks 2008 just to draw shapes in CAD class

  • OH.I was about to do exactly the same . But this guy posted first. Ok I guess I have to work on something else. :( LOL

  • Wow, animation, 3D and sound, amazing.

Is SW now starting in movie industry or what.

  • what was that ohhhhhhhhhh my god!!!!

  • this is amazing.

  • its just crazy, because solidworks is technical program, this is job for 3d max, maya

  • no, seriously...

  • i knew u could draw 3d in solidworks, but animate? and how can u use photoshop (its 2D based, and the animatoin 3D)

    please reply

  • A wizard did it?

  • Yeah,,

... Now see, that's what I was thinking.

  • I'm an amazing mind eh?

  • Yep :)

  • It is an amimation made from freebee maya or StudioMax models, and with SW cut scenes placed over the top?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry?

Someone has gone to a lot of time and trouble to put together this animation, and that deserves credit. Their understanding aoo of SW is.. Well... Not bad, actually quite good, its like a SolidWorks in joke I suppose. But .. But... But?

    Just for fun :)

    J

  • nice !

  • Parabéns!

  • Woow very cool... That sure is a masterpiece

  • Haha, very nice. :)

  • can't really find a good word for it but as TheShawMaestro said, Truly epic :D

  • Truly epic! Very well done!

  • Absolutely brilliant ;)

And to those who say he is lying - read the credits fools. Now quit yaw jibba jabba!

  • very well done!!

i use both solid works and autocad for my engineeering classes too

  • Good job

  • i dunno i use solid works in school 2 do drawing. and doesnt look like it can do this

  • James Bond is a lefty!!

  • very hard to make. Good job

  • OK I gived 5 stars anyways! just admit that your using 3Ds max or lightwave 3d to animate!

  • very nice video! I would have givin 5 stars but the fact that your are lying to us got you down to three. Solidwork animation sucks and there is no way this was done in it. Special effects, f-stops, mesh deform, particule systeme, animated textures and so on..... Bottomline is, your full of it!

  • muy interesante

  • Dude, you're a genius! :D

  • They dont use solidworks either, they use Pro Engineer, which IMO, is much more cumbersome.

  • lol this is Gold!!!

didnt think this could work w/ solidworks

  • Giving this video any less than 5 Stars would be a henious crime!

  • =O

i cant believe this is all solidworks!!

    oh my god!!

  • That's the best CAD video i've ever seen.

    Very impressive. Bravo Mark Biasotti.

    Tanti Auguri, Viva L'Italia

  • awesome!

  • hey its my dad's video

  • bravo!

  • Oh My God! This was awesome! Congratulations ;-)

  • Thanks for the comments!

This video is based in SW 2001plus + -, created by Mark Biasotti. It`s a promotional marketing material.

    All the best regards.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Bravo!
