IMHO, here are some 80s game shows that I want to see back on the air:
1. Starcade 2. $ale of The Century (preserve as much of the Jim Perry - shopping version as possible if there is another crack at Temptation) 3. Split Second (The Monty Hall hosted version) 4. Catch Phrase 5. Scrabble
This show defined the 1980's with the 'arcade' music. Art James did a great job hosting this show as he did with "The Magnificent Marble Machine" in 1975. John Harlum was the announcer.
Interesting. That means I was only 2 in The Chi. I did not check an old television guide to find out what channel it really came on. I had a feeling it was on Channel 66.
I agree with you, it is a dirty shame that the show only ran for 13 weeks, I used to watch it when I was in 7th grade, when I was home from school, or when there was no school that day. My mother also loved watching the show.
I first saw the show while my high school's marching band and I traveled to the UK for a competition we won. We watched Challenge TV, the UK's GSN, and Catchphrase was a show included at the time.

The announcer's John Harlan, in case you're wondering.
And yes, I do find it sad that our version only ran 13 weeks while ITV's version in the UK lasted over 15 years. Both are awesome versions, though. :-D
(Also, there was a version in Australia on the Nine Network that ran about six years, less than half the run of the UK version. One clip was posted by cjpowney not too long ago. :-))
@ 3:24 OK the goal of the game is to say the catch pharse well there it is

If I were Art James, I would have asked Charlie Brown "Where's Snoopy?"

Imagine how Art James would react if he saw the "Snake Charmer" puzzle...

Sounds like something you'd hear on the Sega Mega Drive (or Genesis for those that live in North America).

On that first one, it would have been interesting if the name Michael J. Fox was on it.

Maybe his name is Mr. Herbie Chips? His first name was never given in the UK as far as I know.

It's a rotten shame this show only ran 13 weeks here in the States. It ran almost ran forever in the United Kingdom!
