What were the temps before you used this? I am buying the card so I wanna know the kind of temps you had that made you want to look for a different cooling solution.
@Merky2k Temps of the two cards in SLI on air was normal for a reference cooler, around 80-85 Celsius under load. I had my CPU water cooled for a while, and I just wanted to have my cards cooled to make the system look better, but also have better temps for more overclocking potential. With these two cards water cooled now they max out around 45-48 Celsius under full load.
@PCModderMike, ive got the same card... and thinking of doing the same (WC sli) A: how low did it bring your temps down?? B: you applied thermal compound to those one pads, do youu need to do that for memory too??
@dqrp6435 Thanks for your comment. A: Temps dropped to around 45 Celsius for both cards under load, with an average ambient temp of 25 Celsius, so that's a delta temp of 20 degrees which is pretty good. B: I did not apply the thermal compound to the pads being applied to the memory.
Is that waterblock compatible with the gtx 570 twin frozr III? The Cooling configurator check sais it's not, but the twin frozr II is. Only difference is the is the higher quality caps on the frozr III, which many other compatible models has too. Do u know why it's not compatible, cause I really wanna water cool my frozr III card?
@mrali95 EVGA has slightly changed the design of their HD 570 PCB, and if the Twin Frozr III uses the same PCB, then it will effect the fitment of this block to that card as well. The specific reason EK gave was "The introduction of higher inductors (coils) in now preventing the waterblock EK-FC570 GTX SE from being installed on this graphics card." They also said, "In the upcoming weeks EK will do a revision of aforementioned waterblock to solve the compatibility issue."
@PCModderMike Sounds great, where did u find this info? I have no problem with waiting since I earliest will be getting this for the summer, but would be nice to see it in store before then:) Anyway thx for your help man.
@mrali95 This info was released from EK on their website. Just read that they started shipping the Rev 1.1 blocks on the 10th of this month, and the previous version of the block will no longer be sold. Part number is EK-FC570 GTX SE (rev. 1.1), but like I said I'm not entirely sure which PCB the Twin Frozr III is using, if it's not listed as compatible just send an email to EK and they usually respond quickly.
@mironccr345 Thanks for your support bro, always appreciate it! And I didn't know his cards were going under water too 0_o....man now I really wanna be there to help with that!
all i want to know is if you are still using the dual radiator, i want to do the same thing with 2 570s and i was hoping i wont have to buy anything bigger than a dual 140mm radiator.
@YoDaJedEye Yes technically it does void the warranty, but that's why you would store the air heatsink in a safe place. If anything goes wrong switch it back and then send it in.
@CodeThreeBack I've been wanting to make a follow up to this, and a lot of other videos, but been real busy with family issues and working. Hopefully things will calm down and I can have more play time :)
Very nice Mike, they look extremly pretty. I hope you dont have any nikel flaking issues. Down here in Aus, some users have experience Nikel flaking even on the electroless plated models.. I presume you'll be looking at getting a bigger case to get more radiator space?? or are you going external rads on the 600T?
@abshassan Thanks, I like how they look too. And I hope I don't have any issues too, but I have faith. I've done one internal rad and one external rad...I've invested so much in my 600T, and I like it so much, that I don't wanna get rid of it. Next build I do though, I will probably invest in a case that can accommodate multiple radiators.
Nice vid, but why with those 4-2 PWM PCBs? Even with the vrms being watercooled now, wouldn't OCing on higher power phases PCBs such as the gigabyte/msi/asus ones be more efficient? Or is the WC'ing enough to slide voltage to the max and keep it around 900 mhz core? I thought those very reference pcbs, or really similar to the reference one
@dragonxxorz The memory. I got these because of the memory. 2560MB of memory, needed for running high resolutions during nvidia surround. And yes water cooling this is enough to max out the voltage. I have clocked them to 900MHz, and to do so I have to max out the voltage, but because of the water cooling it's no problem. And like I said watch the unboxing video, and you can get a good look at out these are not similar to reference PCB's. I do a size comparison between a reference 570...
@dragonxxorz Water cooling has amazed me with how much you can push your hardware. Once they were water cooled, the cards hit 46 degrees Celsius under load with stock 732MHz clock. Once sitting at 900MHz on the core, they still only max out at 50 and 52 degrees Celsius.
@dragonxxorz The ideal card for me would be this PCB, with this amount of memory, but the power phases of a card from someone like Gigabyte or Asus. Because I know the clock could go higher, it just wants more voltage.
@PCModderMike Alright hehe, quadruple youtube replies ftw. I just watched the unboxing video, as well as the Accelero cooler video. You sure like modding :p I've heard of the Accelero's working wonder before, those temps were great. Went down from 85c to 53c, pretty crazy. My current rig is a i5 760 @ 4ghz and msi gtx 460 hawk @ 900 mhz. It's been working really good with all games so far, but it runs out of memory like crazy in BF3. Sits at 977/1000mb most of the time lol
@dragonxxorz Haha sorry bro...kinda went on a role there. Yea that Accelero was pretty awesome, just the little heatsinks they give you for the memory and VRM's aren't that great, and you can't push the clock very high or they will overheat. And yea I noticed that about BF3, really a memory hog. Also Crysis 2 is a memory hog, I was doing some single monitor 1920x1080 gaming, and hit 1860MB out of the 2560MB!
@PCModderMike Playing at High right now, can't say the FPS is bad... it's in average around 50-65fps in Caspian Border, which surprises me considering the requirements they announced... then again, I do have my CPU and GPU OC'd pretty high, I think at that point my GPU acts like a 470. But yeah, shame you sold that 570 SoC, I could have gotten it maybe cheaper off you!! Still gonna think about buying that SoC, I only use 1 monitor that's 1920x1080 so memory shouldn't be a problem
@dragonxxorz Only thing that really bothers me is when I get in that Forest on the map, FPS dips to like 45 and I just don't find that smooth anymore... Some people don't mind playing at below 50 fps, I personally just can't stand it
@dragonxxorz Yea I was surprised too, getting 100-130 FPS with a clock of 850MHz on the core. But, the multiplayer is always less demanding than single player, and I think the fact that it's a beta also makes it less demanding on someone's system. So I hope I'm good for full release. Sorry about them SOC's dude, I sold them for a good price too on eBay, the same guy picked up both of them.
@PCModderMike 100-130 fps? that's amazing, is that on High (or Ultra?) in Metro or Caspian Border? That's why I requested a bench video for BF3 like the one you made for Crysis 2. I like the fact that you use a camera, so your FPS isn't gimped by Fraps recording which isn't what people want to see anyways. Maybe if you get around it, make a run with one of your single 570 @ 900mhz and another with SLI in Caspian Border =)
Vid bookmarked! Thank God I saw it since I've been researching a lot on triple-monitor gaming performance for over a week. I just found out about the Evga 2.5GB GTX570's today. Dear Mike, Please tell us about the final results (performance) with those bad boys and if you have Battlefield 3 beta, it would be awesomeness if you can tell us how it performed. many thanks.
@TheEhxpert No a bag would be last case, worst scenario, they are designed to attract static to the outside ofbthe bag. That's why they're good for protecting stuff on the inside, I will admit I've done it in the past. But I would stay away from that practice.
