  • I'm a USC alum and Texas has by far the best university ads I've seen.

  • Hey duty, you care enough to watch

  • UT Austin is totally overrated. Small minded people will never realize that.

  • @dutytocareforothers college is college, no matter where you go, but austin is a great city.

  • @AckAttack77 There isn't anything to do in Austin. 6th street, restaurants, football games, concerts, hills, etc. I can do that in any southern city. Austin is not unique or special in any regard.

  • @dutytocareforothers You sound a little bitter. I've lived there four years and I never get bored of it or the amazing people... I never stop learning from them. Maybe you just weren't looking in the right places, or you acted too much like a tourist (6th street, seriously?? Last on my list) instead of getting to the heart of the city.

  • @designthink 6th street is the heart of the city. Around 6th street are other streets which offer similar bars and restaurants. Any major city in the south and south-west can offer what Austin has to offer. I generally prefer Dallas and Houston as they have far superior quality of nightlife, cultures, arts districts, and sports.

  • @dutytocareforothers How could you know Austin's soul without living there?? I've been to 6th Street maybe five or six times in four years... usually to see a movie at the Ritz (a uniquely Austin experience).

You did not listen to what I said. You can't explore the "heart and soul" of Austin until you are able to get away from this cliche idea of what the city is. Cities are not defined by what types of bars, museums, and expensive sports teams they have... they are defined by the people.

  • @designthink I lived there for one year and attended college at UT Austin. It was a horrible experience. The people are your typical sports-loving beer drinking God fearing Texans. Nothing special. Nothing new. Nothing to do.

  • @dutytocareforothers For someone with a name like "duty to care", you don't listen very well. If you only "lived" in Austin for a year and went to UT during that time, you wouldn't know anything about this city. I've never been bored once. You simply weren't looking in the right places... you could start by getting away from that "typical sports-loving beer drinking God fearing Texans" crowd. I'm none of those things and I'm born and raised Texan.

  • @designthink The sports-loving beer drinking God fearing Texan crowd is everywhere. It's the ruling clique. It's Texas not San Fransisco - Castro or Haight-Ashbury. It's not even New Orleans.

  • @dutytocareforothers Austin is well-known for being the exception to the God-fearing Texas you speak of... If you were an actual Texan, you'd know a little bit more about us. I suggest you quit pretending you know the end-all-be-all of our cities and people based on fleeting visits.

  • @designthink That's strange. When I lived in Austin I noticed it was extremely difficult for white Anglo people to see my point of view. It's like I, as a socially liberal Latin American, had to always bend over backward to see their point and change myself and views for them and for the sake of conformity. That isn't really liberal. I shouldn't have had to do anything. The Asian and black people I met were cool. They did not argue with my points of views: they could actually relate :)

  • @dutytocareforothers Seriously? What does race have to do with any of this? There is all kinds of diversity over this city, and that's what makes it so great! I've volunteered and worked north, south, east, and west. I met all kinds of great people of different beliefs, backgrounds, etc. Sounds like you barely left campus.

The "Asians and Blacks" I know would agree on how you couldn't understand the soul of a city after one year... that thinking Austin "sucks" is a Latino view is beyond me.

  • @designthink You sound like a really selfish person who has no empathy. A part of getting to know people with differences is that they aren't going to experience what you have experience; therefore, you have be accepting and non-judgmental to that. In fact, you should be sympathetic. From your writing it appears that you do not have empathy and you stayed in 3 year old mode where everything is about you, you, you, you, and you....you....you.

  • @dutytocareforothers Dear god, this has turned into a typical youtube convo. All I did was say you should try looking at Austin again, outside of the college crowd, because you got a VERY restricted experience. But you took it as a personal attack, somehow, turned it into me "not accepting your close-mindedness" or something... I tried to help you realize there's more to a town than beer and sports... but it doesn't sound like you know how to see anything else. I'm sorry. I'm done with this...

  • @designthink You haven't mentioned anything else. Look at how boring and lame you are.

  • The ads for most schools either have their boring president spouting off lame statistics (home of the most national merit finalists in north central Ohio) or seem to be productions of the undergrad tv dept. UT's ads are superior by leaps and bounds.

  • I totally have to agree. I work for Admissions at Northern Arizona and you guys have us beat for sure. Kinda makes me want to transfer...

  • I like watching the guy rowing down the river every time I see this commercial

  • our commercials give me chills and make me tear up. no joke.

  • i agree

they're all so beautiful. I was watching a Wisconsin ad during the wisconsin game and it sucked. I think we really do make the best ads.

  • I'm a Wolverine, and I think UT has a great series of commercials. And I love the "What starts here changes the world" line. That said I think the Michigan "Hail" commercial is still the best.

  • Awesome. And so true. God Bless Texas.
