Actually there is no such thing as a Greek god. The gods in Greek mythology were either Cretan or adaptations of Egyptian gods. Linguistic research of linear a and b languages have shown that they bear no connection with the so called indo European languages. The culture of the cretans have also been shown to be non indo European.

The myths of Greece were "true history" to the Greeks? Sounds nice and dramatic, rather like a myth. The many variations of Greek myths, found in their poems and plays, is proof positive that the Greeks took great liberties with "truth" and "history." Thanks to people like Philip Zelikow, leading scholar in the field of public myth-making and executive director/chief writer of the 9/11 Commission Report, we are still passing bullshit off as "true history."
