  • um most of you guys dont know what the ball was made for apparently. it always was a kind of rainbow-parade and fashion mix event but the -gained money from the event- was put into the fight against aids and to remind people of the existance of this illness. its not and was never meant to be an event where people go to get educated about aids...

  • I WAS THERE . IT WAS DISGUSTING. THEY PAID NEW YORK " cool club kids" a salary and a big one to be there that night. what a waste of money. no images of what is realy going on in africa. just patting themselves on the back for being so good.

annie lennox said later that week that vienna has given 1 milion euros to the global aids fun and that is a joke. vienna made 45 million alone on the world aids conference. it is all a big joke.

  • what a crap

  • Vienna what a gtreat place,what a hot city!!!

  • Can't help but detest these things, even though I know they financially support good causes. People just go to see and be seen, for another chance to stroke their massive egos.

  • @megamarsvin

But they'd do it anyway even without the good causes. So it's a deft move on behalf of the righteous to tap the cash and narcissistic good will.

  • @SpottyDorsord Yeah and I'm glad part of the money goes to a good cause.. My main problem with these things is that it gives people the illusion they're doing good in the world when in reality just pouring money on the problem isn't going to help nearly enough.

Whether it's poverty, the climate, disease, if people don't change the way we behave nothing will really change.

  • @megamarsvin

Very true. And they'd reply that they're raising awareness, but that's crap. They're in fact somewhat enervating the the momentum of these issues and derailing them. They become happy and trivialised to an extent. The fact is that fixing up humanity's problems shouldn't be portrayed as something accomplished through fun. Health, employment and civil rights aren't prizes at the end of the party-time rainbow.

It's just another example of the deep duplicity in modern culture.
