  • @buringingofsodum1 it is but its way too gory to show THE REAL footage on the internet

  • Babsbsjvsha

  • Wasent this based on a real story?

  • @burningofsodom1 It claims it is but I don't believe it for a second.

  • I must say that Cannibal (Jungle Holocaust) is one of the best Cannibal films and is one of my faverites

  • Fantastic review. Deodato was the best when it came to cannibal movies.

  • Nice review Glenn. I was also suprised that 'Cannibal' wasn't a video nasty as a result of 'guilt by association' with regard to director and plot content. I do hate the music score for this film. Unlike CH, the music just doesn't fit at all. One wonders if 'Cannibal' was nothing more than a practice run for 'Cannibal Holocaust' ?

  • Excellent review as always, must admit I found the scene a little odd when he rapes the native girl and she responds by making him breakfast??? Incidentally, what version of the film do you have? Did you view the US DVD, the original UK VHS or some other release? Just curious.

  • @DarkAngel182 it's the original UK derann precert VHS (hence the grainy look)

  • @DarkAngel182 pretty heavily cut

  • I really enjoyed this film. The scene near to the end, where he eats the cannibals innards in front of the other cannibals is really intense.

  • The tag line is hauntingly familiar...anyone else thinking texas chainsaw massacre on that one?

  • I love these down to earth reviews you do - I'm also a big fan of a certain page based on comedy reviews (tgwtg), and yours are a great, serious counterbalance, often talking about the same or at least similar movies. :)

  • Like CH, this film seems to juxtapose grotesque imagery with pleasant music. The score sounds corny compared to Riz Ortolani's music for CH.

  • I'm not sure I agree with your comment about how Deodato's protagonists are hard to sympathize with. I think you are on the ball with this point re: Last Cannibal World, but Dr. Harold Monroe of Cannibal Holocaust is among the most respectable protagonists in film.

  • another quality review
