Christian apologetics does this all the time! They scratch and claw at anything they can get their hands on to bolster the position of their ancient beliefs that are constantly mocked at by the secular world. They lean on any "man" who can give them a leg up against their detractors. Don't dog on Mormons when they come across evidence outside their church that bolsters their teachings that were once scoffed at and laughed at but now appear to have truly been ancient beliefs.
