Nice nice I did the same thing too with my 2006 mazda 3 and I paid around that price, 65. I don't think I'll get an exhaust but what do you think of an intake? I don't know much about cars but I heard intake is good? if so which one?
ah I have this car!!!! It yours a 2006 Mazda 3? I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. Where did you buy the equipment? I'd really appreciate the help.
true true very true some of my buddies were saying that shit anyway, if you can get cheap upgrades you want you might as well go for it, but i dont have this type i have the sedan but hey either way i wanted to make it into a tuner type anyway.
I have a lot of respect for sedans! The have a completely different look to them when tastefully modded compared to the hatch. I say go for it, do the exhaust (considering it will be the same price, exhaust is the same on both cars). If anything it will be a great mod to hold you over until the body kit ;)
For sure i used to have a 93 civic sedan and it had an exhaust, and my mom used to have a 2000 chevy malibu on 20"s, in every sedan you could do SOMETHING
true true very true some of my buddies were tellin me that anyway. If you want cheap upgrades then i think its best to just go ahead and get them that way you can do a lot more for a lot less.
True, but cheap upgrades does not mean it is necessarily sacrificing quality. I stood under the car while it was being welded and had it gone over about 3 times to make sure the project was completed correctly. I just did it this way because money was tight and i figured I could get reasonable sound with breaking the bank.
All that was done was the stock muffler was removed and a straight pipe was installed. Since then I have added a "y" pipe and dualed out the rear...still keeping the setup before just with it dualed out. Video soon....
thats exactly what i did to my Camry at first too.
just a pipe w/out the stock muffler.
but you should really invest in a nice muffler.
spend $100 on a magnaflow or a flowmaster. it'll give you that nice deep tone. that way you don't sound like a motorcycle at 3500+ rpms. at least thats the problem i had.
stock size pipe is 2". I did the same thing spent 80, and got 2.25" put in instead of the muffler. Got a magnaflow tip on it(50). Haha it cost me more than the install.
so you just removed the rear most muffler and put in a straight pipe there correct. all i really want from my exhaust is a nice mazdaspeed like sound and this seems to be the way to go.
Is this a SP23 or just the 2L?

idk... im thinking of either waiting to do the exhaust after i get a body kit or just do it now...
Shad0w45 3 years ago
I'd say do it now....why not? It's a cheap upgrade that will give the car a different feel, sound wise.

Actually had it done last month. Didnt have a single issue with it. Car was tested as normal and passed fine. The cat has always been in place.

So all you did was replace the stock pipe? Hell of a lot cheaper than a whole new exhaust system. =)

sounds sweet bro. i removed my res but left the stock muffler on a chevy but like ur setup really good.

sounds awesome, did you install larger pipe in place of the muffler or use stock size pipe 2.25 in?
