i just watched the movie with Romy Schneider and i think the Sissi had a very interesting life....i still try to understand if she loved Franz or not..
Did you all know there is musical of Sisi's life? It's played in Vienna for years and is a BIG hit. They should bring it to B'way---that place needs some glamour.

I agree 100%. I read about how she died, and thought it was such horrible and tragic way for her life to end. She died for no other reason than being at wrong place at the wrong time. Elizabeth was a true beauty. Personally, many of the supermodels today pale compared to the beauty that she radiated. You could even tell that artists and photographers tried very hard to capture her striking features in the best way possible.
Wrong or right person, it is understandable that a young girl is swooned away by a young, good looking man that on top of everything is an emperor... besides her family was most eager to seal this brilliant match.

What are you talking about? I have already read a lot about her...Kaiser Franz was NOT the right man for her! He was to strict and coldhearted for such a kind and warmhearted person as Sisi. Why do you think she was traveling around all the time...ofcourse she wanted to escape from her husband!

As for being "strict and cold hearted," that was actually his mother Sophie (and Sisi's aunt) who behaved this way towards Elisabeth. Yes, the marriage was a disaster because Sisi and FJ were so radically different, but her own issues should be taken into account as well. In fact, that's why think she's such a fascinating woman. If she really was an innocent Disney princess bullied by others, she'd be dull!

The Habsubrg dynasty were out of date with the world, the government was archaic and the only way for them to survive was to have same ignorant, quiet people within their system. Franz Joseph was better off marrying Sisi's docile and trained sister Helene. Elisabeth's rebellious nature and the loathing of her own class lead to their undoing.
