lol that whole fight is stupid reach wasnt suposed to be part of the story master cheif never went to reach and thats why hes humanties last hope becuase the rest of them died on reach :b
Also the unsc had a way better chance on the ground with infantry than they did with space so that's why reach seems to deviate a little because u dint see what else is happening but master chief was humanities last hope because he was the last Spartan but in reach there are 6 different spartans so ofcourse they are going to kick some serious ass
@gelbitrix2 Technically Master Chief isn't the last spartan. But regardless, Noble Team's performance compared to Master Chief was terrible. They hardly kicked any Covenant ass. Noble Six was easily defeated by about 6 elites with energy swords. Noble Six got HIS ass handed to him. But we all remember back in Halo 2, that famous scene when Master Chief was surrounded by 6 elites with energy swords and he defeated all of them without breaking a sweat. Noble Team sucks and are weak and useless.
@gelbitrix2 Halo: reach was intended to be a prequel to the Halo series. However, it deviated a lot. The whole thing with dead spartans and Cortana being on the surface without Master Chief was absolutely ridiculous. Plus, the Pillar of Autumn launching off the ground at the end also never happened as the ship was already in orbit with Master Chief in Cortana long before the Covenant even showed up. That's why the game messes everything up.
@generalkidd hold on, reach wasn't supposed to be part of the story. It was supposed to be a standalone game and also half of mobile shouldnt be dead by the beginning of reach because most of them are Spartan 3's which came waaaaay after the fall of reach and also reach is one of those games where if you took away some of the stupid stuff then it would be great. Btw I have read all the halo books too so I didn't just use halo wiki lol
i wouldn't say it SPITS on the canon... that was probably just an oversight by bungie, or perhaps to show that humanity weren't out of hope against the covies, and that they could put up a fight, and that the covies aren't just invincible monsters
@stix365 It's a pretty big oversight then. And the last 10 years of the Halo story was pretty much built on the idea that the Covenant are a near unstoppable force and that Master Chief is humanity's only hope. In case you forgot, Master Chief defined the Halo series. Not noble team. Time and time again, the Halo games try to make the Covenant seem invincible and that there's no hope of beating them. Therefore, Reach, by changing the most basic mood of the series, is ruining the story.
@JustinGM1422 Well, if you saw the newest trailer for Halo Anniversary, you'll notice it looks kind of similar to Halo 2 and Halo 3. So that might be an indication that Halo 4 may go back to the Halo 3 roots. I think 343 is aware of what a disaster Reach was and what a success Halo 3 and previous Halo games were. But we'll just have to wait and see.
@Generalkidd ...what?! reach=disaster?! that's not true! reach was a great game, and it was the most successful halo launch EVER! numbers don't lie... and at one point, there were more people in one playlist in reach then there were playing halo 3 EVER. i really don't understand why people say reach is a bad game, because it's not. i respect your opinion in not liking it, but do you have to state it as a fact? :(
@stix365 Well if you want to use numbers, Halo: Reach had the second lowest ratings out of all the Bungie-made Halo games. The only reason why it sold so much was because it was building off of the success of the previous Halo games. Every Halo game sells more and more because it keeps drawing new players. Doesn't necessarily mean the game is good. So based solely on the ratings Halo: Reach wasn't that good compared to the hit ratings of previous games. That's why it's a fact. Numbers don't lie.
@Generalkidd what i don't understand is what makes it dissapointing in your eyes. me, i AM sick of reach now that it's nearing the end of its lifespan, but up until now, i loved it. what's your response?
PS: Thank you for being so respectful, most people who dislike reach say that bloom is random(lies), armor lock is cheap(maybe so, but deal with it), etc, etc, etc.
@stix365 Well, I loved Halo 3 from the beginning and I still play it the most right now. I don't think I can ever get tired of Halo 3. I'd still play Halo 2, but Xbox Live doesn't work for it anymore. Anyways, what dissapoints me about Reach is actually a lot of reasons. I'll start with the basic things.
You mentioned bloom, armor abilities, etc.Well, there's a reason why most people dislike Reach cause of those things. Continued in next comment...
@stix365 For those of us who started playing Halo back in 2000, it was an amazing experience that we'll never forget. And Bungie has mostly stayed true to that experience. However, Halo: Reach completely changes that Halo feel to the point where Reach just isn't a Halo game anymore. Halo wasn't meant to be ultra-balanced with bloom, or have armor abilities. Bloom should stay in COD and Armor Abilities should stay in Crysis. Halo had its own thing, it doesn't need to take from other games.
@stix365 As for the campaign of Reach, there are some glaring flaws with it if you played the previous Halo games or read the books. Halo: Reach pretty much takes 10 years of well established Halo canon and flushes it down the toilet. Almost every aspect of Reach's story contradicts 10 years of Halo games. It really made me angry that Bungie would just ruin the story of Halo like that. And the mood of Halo: Reach doesn't reflect a halo game. It's too dark and moody for Halo.
@Generalkidd well, reach was supposed to be a doomed planet. and also, how is the rest of halo not dark?! think about the flood... yeesh. also, could you explain how the canon is messed up? i can think of a few counters... brutes not on alpha halo? 1, they fled the battle of reach, or, we probably just didnt see them. Different human weapons? different weapon models. howEVER, there is ONE plothole i can see... the absence of things like the plasma luancher not being on alpha halo.
@stix365 Well first off, half of noble team was already dead about 20 years prior to the start of Reach. So we have some zombies in Reach apparently. The flood is not very dark. They're just your average sci-fi shooter zombies. In Reach, Dr. Halsey said Cortana chose Noble 6 as her first spartan. That's wrong because in Halo 3, Cortana, when she was created, chose Master Chief as her first spartan. In fact, the whole thing with Cortana in Reach was messed up.
@stix365 During the events of Reach, Cortana was with Master Chief aboard a space station in orbit preparing for a mission. She was NEVER on the surface of the planet. Meaning the entire plot of Reach doesn't make sense. Cortana was never in some underground facility. The mission to protect Cortana and take her to the Pillar of Autumn never happened because Cortana was already with Master Chief. Likewise, the ending of Reach was wrong. The Pillar of Autumn was in orbit the whole time with Chief.
@stix365 In addition to the whole thing with Cortana, you never found it strange that Reach, the 2nd most important human planet next to Earth was only guarded by a single space station and a crippled frigate with no nukes in orbit? In the REAL Halo story, Reach was protected by hundreds of UNSC ships as well as hundreds of Orbital MAC cannons. That was even stated in Halo 2. Plus, there's an issue with the timeframe of Halo: Reach.
@stix365 In Halo: Reach, the covenant was first encountered by Noble Team in a farm field with a single Covenant ship in orbit. And a couple months later the planet fell when more ships arrived. That's all wrong according to the past 10 years of Halo. What really should've happened was that the entire Covenant fleet arrived in one day and in less than 24 hours destroyed pretty much the entire planet and UNSC fleet in orbit. So as you can see, Halo: Reach spits on 10 years of Halo games.
