This is quite good, but Insomnium's earlier albums were far better. The vocals were fiercer and just added something magical into the mix...Now the newer stuff seems lacking. Still the guitar work is excellent as always.

I think the clean vocals were a step in the right direction. Insomnium couldn't keep up the same style without making some changes or they would sound like they are repeating themselves. I just hope they're able to pull this off live effectively.

@PiKaStRo Funny, because their songs are about sorrow, disasters, death, loss, and agony; they are inspired by Doom Metal (yes, I know they're MeloDeath), the genre that surrounds the topics I mentioned. In contrast, God kind of connotes the opposite of what they sing about, and has no relevance to most melodeath metal bands. Scandinavian/Nordic countries, like Japan and Holland, aren't religious (unlike the far more religious U.S. or Iraq). Just my opinion, no offense intended.

But wtf man they have a particuar style that they improved and developed by themselves there is not a clear or dastric change of sound in their music, they conserve their own essence. I mean more mainstream? If this is more mainstream better we don't talk about what In Flames did (they're still good but... you know). Against the stream ;)
