"Gradius III" Super Famicom

Never thought Gradius was a very good game the music is what always got me to start it up.

This game is a certified bitch! Even if you use the code for the 30 ships(and its not the "Konami Code") you can still have a difficult time with it.

Also there's some insane code where if you hit x and y a certain number of times you can do a "auto weapon select" on the one screen.

My favorite gag is when you put in the "K Code" the "traditional way" to get all your weapons automatically it blows up your ship. Instead the designers made you use the L and R triggers to do it!

Oh yeah love me some shooters. Just think theres better shooters out there then gradius or r*type. My favorite has to be Blazin Lazers /Super Star Soldier. Love the over head view on shooters.

I know what you mean. There are some pretty cool shooters like that. I guess that another one of my favorites is the Sonic Wings/Aero wings series for the Neo.

Man, one of the early release titles. I still love playing the game, it plays better than the Arcade version.

Yeah, it's just got a little bit of lag when you get too much going on the screen at one time. Bogs down pretty bad

Lots of fun with Gradius III back in the day. I know alot of peeps have issues with the slow down in this game, but I think It just adds to its charm!!

I played the arcade version years later and found it to be insanely hard compared to the SNES version.

The very first Gradius game I've ever played... I spent so many hours(days, even!) playing this game(and the others in the series: Gradius, Gradius II, arcade version of Gradius III(it will MURDER you; I never beat Stage 3 in the arcade version), Gradius IV, Gradius V, the MSX-exclusive Gradius games, Gradius games on the Sharp X68000, even numerous Gradius fangames - including my fangame...lol). I'm crazy for Gradius, I know. Hell, I can play a Gradius game for an entire week if I wanted to!

Yeah, Gradius is my favorite Shoot-em-up ever, and it's with that immense following of the series that I've made a fangame, and am now making a SECOND one, which, believe it or not, mixes both Gradius AND Contra into the same game.

Live form Japan, lol. All gradius/salamander have the same start screen xd. Myself i prefer shooters that you have upper vision, dont ask me why.Luke you probably have Area 88 for Super famicom.its excelent in this style to, have REALLY good music, give it a shot if you dint yet

Yeah, I know what you mean about the vertical shooters. they are a lot of fun. Mine being GunBird, 19XX, 1945 ect.

Yeah, Gotta love the fact that Konami did that but you know how you felt when you first got this game and others and you had to buy the nintendo mags in order to get the codes or at least your friends did. those were the days before internet took off for sure.

Check it out on an emulator if you've never played it before, I'd hate for you to get something on my recomendation that you thought was crap, My bro' had a NEO GEO when we were kid's he was the envy of the street as everyone else had NES's.

Man Gradius games are hard. I can't even beat the first level..LOL. I love shooters!!!! TG-16 has some of the best IMO...Gotta love Super Star Soldier, Blazin Lazers, Soldier Blade, Cyber-core, Dragon Spirit etc. Good Shit...I use to be all about R*Type till i discovered the shooters on TG-16. LMAO made me say Rtype what.
