Sprinklers.ifind2.com installs sprinklers and they also sell the #1 selling Install Yourself kit and it saves thousands of dollars. I got it from BidsWOW.com
@ryan2546 "ploy piped" do you mean plow? it used to be a rock garden and that was ripped out and it was just dirt when the system went in so everything was trenched.
Yeah, my dad has a big air compressor with a long hose that I use. I devised an adapter consisting of a pressure gage, a ball valve, a faucet adapter, and an air hose quick connect. I attach that to the faucet on the sprinkler line and I blow it all out that way.
@gusherb94 Thankyou for the info. I gotta get me a cheap air compressor for mine....I use a bicycle air pump (hand pump), and it is a back breaker, and takes about 3 days to do all of mine! (around 3hours a day).....The compressor should take the work out of it for me:)
If this is the first system you installed? Very Nice! Far better than a Gardener would have done with some experience. You are correct sprinklers around the perimeter of parkway would have been more effective. Increasing to 1" pipe from 3/4" copper makes not difference at all. You could have used 3/4" valves and PVC and saved a few bucks. I hoped to see Rotors in large lawn which I did. Very Nice Job! I have seen a lot worse from more qualified persons. NICE!
1" could have been overkill but I wanted it anyway for the least resistance possible, the house has relatively low water pressure too - it's only 45 PSI. so I wanted the best possible flow I could get to those sprinklers. I get 15 GPM from that 1" water line.
SCH40 PVC or 200?? 3/4" copper and 1" SCH 40 PVC is nearly the same. PVC pipe is measured from the outside, therefore the thicker walled SCH40 has a smaller inner diameter. Poly pipe is measured from the inside, so 1" poly means 1" on the inside. All that said, you're more than fine with what you have and your choice of pipe.
It's not hooked up to the faucet, I specifically ran a line through the basement tapping in right after the meter like it SHOULD be done. and people like ME DO NOT make you money...
the zone minutes into 3 sections ( Ie zone 2 runs for 20 min) split this into 3 - 7 min run time cycles with a separation period of 30 min or so.
Seperate your lawn zones with program A ( Using your 3 start times) and use program B for your shrub zones.
Also, it's recommended to have a backflow prevention device installed. Using an AVB valve is not good enough. The proper backflow depends on your local codes.
The sprinkler head looks to be above your brick edger . This area is a high traffic area and so the sprinkler head has a higher probability to break.
Zone 2 ( Front rotors) I know PGJ's are hard to adjust, take some time to finesse the two heads that are near your driveway and walkway- try to get the overspray to stop.
You said you had sand, for your lawn zones I recommend a 'cycle and soak' style of watering. There are a lot of ways to this method, the most basic is splitting
Zone 1- This summer take some time to re-design the zone. You can get away with using a low volume nozzle with the same amount of flow. ( IE Rain bird nozzle size 8's.) Adding heads to the corners and having full's in the middle will help on your distribution uniformity.
On zone 3 ( Front garden drip) I would recommend to lower that first corner head to be roughly 1" above ground ( Because you are using micro-nozzles that clog easily)
Thanks! Installing this sprinkler system in the front yard alone has really paid off as I hate having to haul hoses around and put up with manually watering everything. I set the sprinkler timer back in May and have pretty much forgot about it, It's nice to have grass and plants that "magicly" stay green even in the worst of heat. Now the rest of the yard is a whole nother story...
Where can I get more information about Water Sprinkler System installation? Thank you!!

ryan2546 8 months ago
@ryan2546 that's the sprinkler line that taps into the main right after the meter, and then a spigot right there.
