  • This was the Cathedrals line-up that I cut my teeth on as a teenager. Still a fan after all these years!!

  • we need to bring those coat styles back

  • Jesus' love reached down and touched me one December 21st! I stepped over the line from eternal death to eternal life! Woooo. Thank U Jesus! I ain't got over it yet - 43 years ago. Unsaved folks have no idea what all they are missing. I've talked SG fans who clap to the music but have no convincing salvattion story - still lost.

  • This is a great song sung by a great song! and I just love Danny's tenor voice...nothing like a whiny tenor! and I love Glen's combover ha lol

  • Roger passed away on March 17, 2007, from complications related to leukemia. He had last received a bone marrow transplant in November of 2006. His condition seemed to be improving, but complications developed, and now he has gone to be with the Lord!

  • when did rodger pass

  • Great Song. Missed alot of good songs since the shipwreck.

  • Just what I needed on a Sunday morning. Thanks for the upload.

  • I just love The Cats.......

  • wow, this brings back memories, I am crying as i hear it, my mother and i would ride in the car when I was 14 15 years old and listen to the catherdrals (My favorite group) on a casette tape, I mis her so much that it hurts, I know i will see her again. Bitter sweet memories.

  • Praise God for southern gospel singers with this kind of talent and love for God. I love it.

  • thank you for this, it's a treasure Oakswarrior ! I'm still amazed at this thing known as Southern Gospel. I still remember when I figured out that it had a name !

  • Listen to that bass singer! George was always there, solid. I love these guys, hard not to be a little sad for our loss.

  • IM Braziliam and love Cathedrali have a lot videos.

  • what an amazing song, grabbed me from first line :)

  • why wou they want to tamper with this wonderful rendition?

    thanks for posting it.

  • I know. They should have just edited the mistake and left it at that.

  • The voices are as follows - 1) Tenor: Danny Funderburk; 2) Lead: Glen Payne; 3) Baritone: Mark Trammell; 4) Bass: George Younce; and 5) Piano: Roger Bennett.

Only Danny and Mark are alive on this side of heaven. Danny's latest group is called Mercy's Way. Danny also founded Danny Funderburk Ministries and is on tour again after recent health troubles. Mark founded the group The Mark Trammell Trio. Like Danny, Mark founded a ministry know as Mark Trammell Ministries.

  • the bass and the drummer are awsome on this song too

  • thr greatest thx for all those songs

  • AWESOME! WAY TO GO DANNY!!

  • Did Glen mess up at the start of the encore? I think he started the first verse, instead of the second verse and Danny looks very confused for a few seconds.

  • Yes. That was the main reason for the audio edit.

  • I miss being able to hear anointed singing and seeing the singers getting excited about what they're singing...Growing up listening to southern gospel music, I've seen it change from a ministry to more of an entertainment venue....it's sad really...I love watching these old videos to remind me how God used to move in concerts!!!

  • You ought to see Legacy Five. Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett started the group, and they're very good. I've been to one of they concerts. They are the closest to being like the Cathedrals that I've heard.

  • The tenor singer is very gifted. Beautiful voice.

  • Chief:

You don't know me from adam's housecat, but Ai grew up abou 2 miles from one of the venues these guy sused to come to. Line up in this video: Tenor 1: Danny Funderburk

Tenor 2: Mark Trammill (also bass guitar). LEAD BARITONE: Glen Payne (Now deceased), Bass Vocal: George Younce (Deceased), and piano -the incomperable and sorley missed Roger Bennett (17 march 2007, Acute Myleogenous Leukemia that got started as Chronic Lymphocitic. Roger was not yet 51.

  • They were all gifted. Glen had a beautiful lead voice. I remember George when he sang bass for The Blue Ridge Quartet. I remember seeing Mark Trammill but not with the Cathedrals. Did he sing with the Florida Boys or another group? I'm around quite a few gospel singers locally who go to the National Quartet Convention and I do keep up with all the ones who have passed away. Can you imagine the Heavenly choir and what they sound like now with all the great ones who have gone before us?

  • Trammell used to sing with The Kingsmen at one point.

  • Yes, I knew Roger, George and Glen are gone from us. Danny was a wonderful tenor when he was with this group. Thanks for your comments. May God Bless.

  • @raincloudmusic1 Glen Payne passed away in 1999!

  • Miss you guys, just look at your tesimony, this video has been on YouTube only 6 months and has already had over 6000 hits!! We need more old timey gospel music that honor's GOD. I'll take the old-time way, what was wrong with it!! It works. Praise God, HIS LOVE is an ENDLESS love that Touches me!!

  • I sure do Miss these Guys!

  • I've always loved The Cathedrals. But in my opinion, this goes to show how much more powerful they would have been if they had a live band with them all the time instead of just piano, bass, and tracks. It really makes a difference, and adds power and intensity.

  • I help sing this song and sing Glen's part! it's an awesome song!

  • I bet the audio version was recorded on a different venue on their Travelin' Live tour.

  • The audio was fixed later in the studio. The base recording came from this footage.

  • It's amazing how they messed up the audio footage in the studio! I actually liked it without the synthesizers. They shouldn't have overdubbed it. The mistake was barely audible!

  • Aw...I love to watch Danny. He's so bouncy :] It really lifts my mood and makes me enjoy the song that much more...!

  • i wish i could find a song by the cathedrals about healing. I remember something along the lines, hills of my healing.

this song makes me smile. thank you for sharing.

  • Is it "Somebody Touched Me"

It should be on utube somewhere.

  • The title of the song is "Healing" (written by Roger Bennett). I think the line you're thinking of is "...the ills of my body were healed by the stripes on His back..." It's a powerful song, as so many of Roger's are.

  • "HEALING" is a GORGEOUS tune. I think one of Roger's absolute best ever -unless you count "DOn't be Afraid"...which tops it, but that cat wrote so many that inspired and encouraged....I miss his playing, for it is wrapped up in part of my own piano sound and style. ps; learning to play drums again-who's htat back there on kit Paul Leim? Somebody clue me? Thanks.

  • If you want to download a complete concert of the Cathedrals from 1987 then head over to my website "brograrysblog dot com"

  • I guess the synthesizer was only part of the edited track.

  • An unedited video with the post-produced audio would make and interesting post (hint hint)

  • Please post more of this video or more of the Cathedrals if you can. Love this. Thanks

  • It looks to me like the guys (especially Glen) are reading the words from "cue cards" on the front row when singing the verses. I've got this video at home and will try to remember to look to see if you can see them when they do the over-the-shoulder camera shot from on-stage near the end of the song.

  • great they sound simply amazing george seems to be having a real good time tht nite they all are great!!
