You know what I love about this review? How Sessler can give it 3 stars, when he also gave RS 2, 3 stars... What!? The second one was an infinitely better game! Yet somehow, he can give it less criticisms with more praise towards improvements, but can't find it in himself to give it a better score. Really? RS 2 is a solid 4, no question.
What's funny is that I tend to agree more with X-Play and less with IGN, but IGN reviewers hit the mark. Epic Fail, X-Play. Epic Fail, Sessler.

IGN gave the game the proper praises it deserved. Sometimes I agree with them over X-Play, this just happens to be one of those times.

when i first got red steel in 2006 i had my elbows resting on my leg like many wii owners whould be doing by now and the game was good for me the multiplayer was ok so i give the game a 4 out of 5 because there wasnt many guns

I actually think Red Steel isn't as bad as many make it out to be. I actually found it more enjoyable than The Conduit despite its flaws. The controls are flawed and require a lot of time to get the hang of but the actual gameplay is fun. The firefights are fun because of the weapon selection and excellent sound effects. The sword fights however are boring and are just a waste of time.
The Conduit has better controls but I found the experience to be much more generic (story, enemies, weapons).

It's not out and probably won't be, but if it does come out there's a high probability it'll suck; it's how things go most of the time with trilogies. Devil May Cry was an exception (that's because the 2nd game was considered the worst) but as a rule-of-thumb the third installment is generally terrible.
My review is similar to this one, only I give it a slightly higher score. For when it came out on the Wii, I think it deserves a little more respect. The controls are not as bad as they put it, well, for the gun controls anyway. But the sword controls, that's a different story...Red Steel 2 looks great!

when you're using your gun, you have to move the cursor towards the very edge of the screen in order to turn. and you have to push the wiimote, like, 3 feet forward in order to zoom. and the swordplay IS dreadful! worst part of the game! it always reads your swings incorrectly, or not at all. and it's not even realistic! it's so sloppy! it's not even fun, let alone realistic. blocking sucks too, because you do it by wagling the nunchuk instead of holding B while holding the wiimote in a position

partly u r right. but I am totally satisfied with my wii. I dont need my gC anymore, which means more space in the room. There r a lot of awesome titles, and remakes can be good as well. The wii edition of resident evil 4, hell the controls increase the game so much. And for example the metroid trilogy, I dont have part 1 and 2 fgor gc yet, getting them on 1 disc iwth wii controls? Awesome! the resident evil 1 remake seems pointless, as its the exact same game,but try to get RE1 GC

This game is a guilty pleasure for me, I can't stand the controls, sword katas are impossible to pull off, grenade tossing is delayed, the close-range short sword slicing is a joke, but something about the game just draws me in and tells me I'm having fun

It's not out and probably won't be, but if it does come out there's a high probability it'll suck; it's how things go most of the time with trilogies. Devil May Cry was an exception (that's because the 2nd game was considered the worst) but as a rule-of-thumb the third installment is generally terrible.

My review is similar to this one, only I give it a slightly higher score. For when it came out on the Wii, I think it deserves a little more respect. The controls are not as bad as they put it, well, for the gun controls anyway. But the sword controls, that's a different story...Red Steel 2 looks great!

yeah, i know, xplay is so retarded. they said that the sword combat was the best part of the game. seriously, how could they hate the gunplay more than the swordplay? the swordplay is twice as sloppy as the gunplay.
plus, they gave the conduit the same score, which is 10x better! this game is crap compared to the conduit, and i think that it should be ignored, because it's nothing special.
and it's not just controls. boring story, bad enemy AI, no online multiplayer, need i go on?

seriously, how can you give respect to one of the worst fps's of all time? even if this game didn't suck, it still wouldn't be worth looking into. it's a game that you should totally ignore. everyone says that's it's unique because the swordplay, but i agree with you that the swordplay is so DREADFUL! at least twice as bad as the shooting!
however, red steel 2 is promising to be a unique, awesome, totally different game. i can't wait to play it! too bad it's being delayed until march...

when you're using your gun, you have to move the cursor towards the very edge of the screen in order to turn. and you have to push the wiimote, like, 3 feet forward in order to zoom. and the swordplay IS dreadful! worst part of the game! it always reads your swings incorrectly, or not at all. and it's not even realistic! it's so sloppy! it's not even fun, let alone realistic. blocking sucks too, because you do it by wagling the nunchuk instead of holding B while holding the wiimote in a position

the wii IS capable of much better graphics than this. panterafani is right; ubisoft put WAY MORE effort into assassin's creed than this game. i know that the wii's graphics suck compared to the 360 and PS3, but this game looks like a launch gamecube game, and i know that the Wii is capable of much more than this, because i've played super mario galaxy.
