@66eb Unfortunately, once the leather is cracked, you can't undo it. The best you can do is stop further cracking by keeping it clean and very well oiled. With bridles, you can sometimes just replace the cracked piece, rather than having to buy a whole new bridle.

@xElizabethloveablex Too much soap is if you can't get it all off with a damp towel. You don't want to have to dunk your leather in water to get the soap off.
@kaitrum1998 It's best to always give your tack a quick wipe down after every time you ride. A thorough cleaning should happen monthly--or as needed more often!
@MrJimmslim I try to wipe my tack down after every ride (just a quick swipe with a damp cloth on the girth, browband and bit). That cuts down a lot on the dirt buildup. If I'm good, I'll give my tack a thorough cleaning and oiling once every month or (if I'm bad) every two months.
@icefirespyro yep! It applies to all kinds of tack. If your western tack is synthetic, you can be even less careful with it (you could probably just hose it down!) and you don't have to put leather conditioner on it.
do u clean both sides of the girth the side that touches the horse to because im worried its going to eritate my horses skin is there any tack soap that prevents that?
@horselover99100 I've never really heard of soap bothering a horse's skin. If you notice it, you can try all sorts of different soaps, from simple glycerine to fancy pH balanced cleansers. I always clean both sides of the girth, because the one that's against his skin always gets covered in sweat and the one that's on the outside gets covered in mud!
How often do you have to clean your tack? Do you have to clean it after every ride or once a week because i'm not sure? Because my mum told me to clean it just when you can see that it is dirty which is quiet alot?

@ilovehorses4783 I'm not quite sure what you mean...do you mean how to carry your tack? How to find the right tack? How to organize it...?
