  • looks like when that rear tire hit the ground again it was too much for the rear diff. interestingly, the subaru over there has a smaller and slightly weaker rear diff

  • @drkmanracer302 what subaru?

  • @Sasori327 my bad.. its a lancer i thought it was a subie. well i reject my last comment lol

  • if your DSM isnt broke, you are.

  • for sale: gsx converted to a gst... :)

    lol jk sick car though

  • could that harm the engine in any way?

  • @akaegypt4u It could possibly over rev the engine, but I doubt it was that bad since the front wheels where still being driven

  • @richierich1285 if he finished hi run he could have risked blowing the trans. Eventually that rear end would have locked up and blown the transaxel too. Not worh it.

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn

  • in slow mo it looks like it took a shit

  • It looks like he would have won, had that not happened

  • i would of kept going he still had front wheel drive

  • @Richierich1285 Problem is, DSMs are indiscriminate with their torque dispersion, so all the wheels get the same percentage of the power at all times. So, basically, all the power he had was probably going to the busted-up rear end, which is no good.

  • @SchizoFilms yeah if thats the case he could of kept going bc the front wheels would of still had power

  • looks like it broke where he diff housing bolts to a mount

  • you can see that jackhammer action of the tire spinning and grabbing haha... it breaks rights as the rear tire hooks

  • should have had a 9 inch ford stabbed into it

  • perfectly demonstrates sir isaac newton's theory of mad launch = fucked diff

  • What is impressive to me about this video is the effects of weight transfer. Watch the front tires and the weight shift to the rear and then watch the rears as the weight shifts back to the front and then back again... every time the weight left an axle the tire spun.

  • flames = cool sorta whellie = cool blowing up a diff cuz your car has a shit load of power fucking epic!

  • looks like the car took a massive dump

  • Yikes!

  • 0:50 Theres your problem

  • For a long time I've been warned about NOT clipping the clutch in an AWD car, specially when launching hard (as in drag racing with slicks)

But now this video shows it clearly: When the rear diff reacted with already all that torque plus speed difference, it made mince meat of the whole rear diff assembly.

  • looks like it took a shit :p

  • shit that would suck. thats not stuck rear end right. what kind is it not a 9 inch right.

  • lmfao

  • Moron its not FF herp derp

  • The beauty of AWD!!! LOL

  • needs suspension work, look a that crazy weight transfer causing changes in traction front and rear...

  • @bikerboomer No it's just the center diff doing its job you noob!

  • diff took a major shit! ouchhhh

  • how to convert a gsx to a gst in under 5 seconds

  • Bahahaha! That looks familiar on my Evo

  • that eclipse wouldve won it too..i got a buddy with a 95 talon tsi awd pushin over 600awhp and he's got the classic dsm sticker in the back "Build It, Boost It, Break It, Repeat" lol

  • LOL It looked like the car was pooping.

  • what kind of diff did u have

  • @kushiikiidlx Stock with well over 100k miles and hundreds of passes.... The rear diff cover broke and they are a weak link in the 2g awd. Doesn't help when your making over 700 ft/lbs either...

  • damm i hope this dont happen to me...

  • That DSM wouldv been gone if that hadnt have happend!

  • FWD LOL!

  • dsm rules, vtec this!!! motha fuckers

  • dont buy a dsm, but its funny how dsm's turn regular ppl into certified mechanics because of how much shit breaks in them lol

  • good job pulling to the side

  • That's never good, yet again when it comes to DSMs if you're not breaking shit you're not going fast enough.

  • He kinda launched it wrong, If you watch the reg speed video you can see the car bouncing all over the place. On the third bounce the weght transfers to rear again and gains traction hard and shocks the rear end to failure. That says a lot about this guys setup if the rear end is the weakest part of the drivetrain. Does the driver have a channel?

  • sick car, why does the front spin many more times before the back can catch up,.. shouldn't it all work as one being awd ? iv seen a handful of the slow motion videos and this one really shows a big difference from the front wheels to the back..

  • @MYFASTDSM The viscous coupler is letting the front go first and then lets the back catch up later.

  • damnnnnn

  • If you're not breaking stuff, you don't have enough POWAH!

  • @Petzuhhut so tru, i cant wait to get my DSM!

  • moron ff is NOT designed for power

  • @omid11 The REAR diff exploded and you think it's front wheel drive???

  • what is this rear diff you speak of on a ff

  • @omid11 Learn about cars and you'll find out.

  • what is car?

  • @Nayr747 omid11 is a retard... its not his fault

  • @omid11 its a GSX you dumb shit. its AWD. if is was FF, the drags would only be on the front, but he has it on all 4s. i don't understand why he has drags on this car anyways, these cars can have enough traction with really good street tires unless hes pushing some ridiculous power numbers... it would have to be more than 500bhp to even consider drag radials on AWD equipped vehicles. (prolly why his rear diff exploded)

  • ff sucks

  • @omid11 its not FF

  • @lazyboy2oo6 Yeah, and how the fuck is a rear diff going to explode on a front wheel drive car. I hate stupid people.

  • @800hennessy i hate stupid people too... how the fuck are the rear tires spinning then? why does he have slicks on the rear if its only a fwd car? why the fuck is there explosion coming from where a rear diff sets? the Eclipse had an AWD variant. which means that it has both a front differential and a rear differential fucktard

  • @279Xander You know I was talking about the other guy correct.

  • @800hennessy you know what makes you sound even dumber is that both of those cars are AWD

  • @279Xander Holy shit. I was talking about the guy saying "FF" cars suck. Because he thinks the cars were front wheel drive. So speaking of dumb, shut the hell up.

  • watch the wheel hop

  • God damnnnnnn powerrr DSM RULZZZZZZ

  • I used to break drivetrain parts when I had drag slicks, too. Switched to V-rated and haven't broke anything since. Funny thing is I pull the same 1.64 60' times with either tire.

    thanks for sharing~!

  • @Jafromobile 1.6's are street tire territory, what "slicks" were you breaking parts with? MT Drags or MH drags are so much easier on drivetrains than anything because the tire obsorbs the shock not the axles/diffs.

  • @bobbond000 You are correct. They were radials. NITTO Extreme 555R's. I dunno why I said slicks. Maybe the 5/32" tread they came with that wore off very quickly? They were slicks within 8000 miles. :P I'll go with MH if I ever complete a non-street project, thanks for the advice.

  • did it break b/c of too much torque? or what was the reason?

  • Great video , not so great diff.

    Cleveland4g63 . com

  • When you break something, replace it with something better!

  • Good stuff!

  • What camera was used?

  • Wow.

Im gonna play it safe and get a gs-t

  • @vintimv001 You will regret it forever.

  • if you aint breakin parts you aint going fast enough

  • Damn that sucks....Im surprised there is not 600 comments about how DSM's break too much.... that's a 9 second car its gonna break sometimes.

  • ooooh sweetbro
