No, as a matter of fact, Make Me a Supermodel was Bravo's response to America's Next Top Model, and if memory serves me well, Make Me a Supermodel got higher ratings than ANTM, and of course the models were chosen from people not models/judges

i actually like the contestants on this show better than the usual ANTM models...though it drives me nuts that america gets to vote.

there's a difference between someone being conventionally pretty and what an agency or designer might like.

I agree with you. It seems to me that the professionals should at least get half the vote in this situation. Sometimes America ends up voting for who they like best for their own personal reasons (American Idol), and that's not always who really deserves to win such a professional competition.
