Wow! I just started playing dnd with some my friends at school. It's a blast! lol, my brother doesn't take it seriously tho. He drew a face on his stomach and named it bill. Bill had his own character! Lol!
Is it true some kids committed suicide playing this game. I remember hearing in the Christian realm that some teenagers committed suicide playing because they were so wrapped up into it to the point of if their character died they felt like they had died, or life was over..
I did find info about Patricia Pulling founder of BADD. This one-person advocacy group was dedicated to the elimination of D&D and other such games, starting 1982, when her son Irving committed suicide. As her son had played D&D, she filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her son's high school principal, holding him responsible for what she claimed was a Dungeons & Dragons curse placed upon her son shortly before his death.
@JeXsXsXe When D&D hit it's peak in the 80's it was targeted as a teen threat by circles of faith. There were teens that killed themselves and wrote in their notes about D&D. I've seen people mention marriage, money and other things to. Clearly other issues were involved, even if their reasoning was the game, some other things in life made them think like that. No one ever talks about the number of kids the game has helped in life. This vid is darker than most things D&D, I must say.

DnD doesn't necessarily have to be dark and creepy. You're allowed to immerse yourself into your own storyline and setting anyway you want. That's the beauty of DnD and roleplaying.

Haha. I love DnD. Me and my parents and my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin play once a week. We don't get super into the roleplaying like the people in this video do. We do it for the fun of the game and the strategy. It's fun stuff. It's an expensive habit though. Lol.

I never played the old pen and paper, but I remember playing the old hero quest game released by MB. Heroscape was alot of fun as well though much more to set up then the old game. I always liked the board games because you didn't need someone to sit out and run the game.

@SatoshiBatista Good idea, I would suggest going down to your local gaming store and ask if anyone is running a game. In the mean time you can check out Giant in the playground, it's a site dedicated to D&D and other tabletop games. It also has a great webcomic running.
i honesly dont see how anyone can have fun playing a 1st level magic-user for Adnd 1st edition. you get 1 spell perday and then...darts? or staff for the rest of the day. very fun. and if you try to fight, u pretty much die in one hit.
QUESTION: A Paladin walks in a frontier Village Tavern and sees a human, an Elf and a Kobold conversing at a table. The Kobold is the only "evil' in the room. The Paladin attacks immediately. Did the Paladin commit a crime? If so, which and/or how many?
I have seen this video before. I agree with spacelord. Playing by candlelight is kind of unpractical. I get the "setting a mood" but it's totally bad for the eyes especially trying to read the text and dice rolls.
D&D is the best in all of it's incarnations. Right now, my group is playing a 4E campaign with myself DMing. This version rocks. Everyone is having a blast. I don't know why there is still so many haters out there.
@spacelord782 I've never even seen a 1e. However it was indeed mentioned in the 4e. In a section that was talking about setting the mood etc. It said something like, 'or even light some candles' lol
I like the new versions, though i have never played the old versions so i cant say theyre better, i just guess that they probably have more choices and editing to them as theres more added to the game with newer editions. Ive yet to play 4th, but 3rd is pretty fun. The version dont matter though as much as who you play with

Too bad you aren't mature enough to handle someones opinions on the video. Everyone has a right to voice their opinions. If you don't like something, just don't read it and move on. I never played the old pen and paper, but I remember playing the old hero quest game released by MB. Heroscape was alot of fun as well though much more to set up then the old game. I always liked the board games because you didn't need someone to sit out and run the game.

Go to the Web Site Meetup.com. They have groups who meet for various subjects including Dungeons and Dragons. You should be able to find a meetup that pertains to D&D where you can find others interested in the game wanting to play.

I have seen this video before. I agree with spacelord. Playing by candlelight is kind of unpractical. I get the "setting a mood" but it's totally bad for the eyes especially trying to read the text and dice rolls.
D&D is the best in all of it's incarnations. Right now, my group is playing a 4E campaign with myself DMing. This version rocks. Everyone is having a blast. I don't know why there is still so many haters out there.

I like the new versions, though i have never played the old versions so i cant say theyre better, i just guess that they probably have more choices and editing to them as theres more added to the game with newer editions.
