Saw the film 1 year ago. 反駁: You say you're against free education, labeling it as "socialist" but you might think differently if you were not given the privileges you have already enjoyed. It seems as though you are against ensuring reasonable opportunities for upward mobility! Moreover you said people are afraid of their bosses--this is for good reason when 1) corruption exists and 2) there is endless cheap labor to replace you. How can an unskilled worker negotiate given those conditions?
Yo man, I first stumbled on your videos a year ago, still watch them whenever I get a chance, picked up the Mandarin Pimsleur finally, do you have advice on whether it is worth getting a textbook or if a chinese-english dictionary would suffice as a complement to the audio lessons. I am currently expending energy on becoming here in the states and gunning for Ron Paul but I do not think I will be in the states for 2016 if Obama, Gingrich, or Romney win in 2012.
I've noticed in the local media (Eastern Europe) several stories that attempt to portray Chinese people as heartless and inhuman. For example, the girl in Guangzhou struck by a car and left to die without anyone helping her and some drivers even driving their cars over her body. I suspect that there is plenty of spin from the Western media, so I want to know what exactly is your opinion on this? If I am struck by a car in China, should I expect people to just let me die?
Generally speaking they are less empathetic - especially the old people who are basically dissociated from decades of poverty and, well - the insanity of life under Communism. If you get hit in a big city they'll call an ambulance - I saw it last week.
The growing encampment of protesters outside St Paul's Cathedral, set up a few weeks ago by misty-eyed idealists campaining against the global financial system, are now being infiltrated by hooligans and by thugs determined to use violence if any legal measures are invoked to deal with this nuisance. This is a problem for the Bishop of London and the clergy who first welcomed them and applauded their campaign. It is aslo problem for those who work in the City.
damn that documentary sounds completely unbearable...I'm surprised you made it through that tripe and that people that are that illogical and can even tie their own shoes
These annoying docus are usually projection of what is going on around them.Google complies with dutch law and passes them information.
I'v noticed that this happens everywhere where another economy is considered a threat. They will look at it and declare:'but it is really crap, because the environment is going down the drain or the wealth discrepancy'. Here they always said that in the us nobody paid taxes and the poor were dying in the street. They still can't accept the fact that USA has ...
the highest corporate tax in the world, is far from free. Recently a dutch girl was arrested in New York fro riding a bike with a skirt. She was told to change to pants by the police. ..their country was best and in other countries a rich minorty ruled the slaving masses. All the elitist rulers drill the same story in the heads of their flock. TO immunize them if they see a better life somewhere else. They will think: 'aha, the thin rich top layer'
By the way, the most of the protesters who are currently camping outside St Paul's Cathedral (in London) to call attention to the 'defects of the capitalist system' come from prosperous middle/upper class homes to which they return in the evening to get a good meal and a wash.
Thanks for this. Your views are most perceptive and I continue to urge you to write a book about your experiences as an appropriate antidote to the nonsense we are told about modern China.
I know they wanted "Democracy" - I hate Democracy. Do you have any evidence to suggest that segments of the student movement advocated Capitalism, or Economic Liberalism, specifically?
@Ksabrs45 Google the leaders of the movement...They are all in America or Taiwan right now and are big capitalist advocates. That dude who won the nobel peace prize is one of them, and he said China would have been better off colonalized.

@Dissidentsdissent
I did use a text book - but I haven't looked into what's available in a long time so my advice is probably out of date and irrelevant.
