  • did they ever sell Rovers in America???

  • the 1999-2008 Jaguar S-Type was assembled in

    Birmingham, West Midlands, England

    Taiwan

  • you can't compare these cars. the rover 75 is much much much cheaper. i like the jaguar more than the rover but i don't have the money for a jaguar. so im thinking of buying a rover 75.

  • The Jag was horrible, nasty american dash and ugly sloping side profile.. The Rover was much nicer!!

  • the birmingham car all the way!

  • @arospeed169 they were both made in Birmingham

  • All the plastic bits have been thrown away from the 2008 Jag !!!

  • rover 75 es un exelente carro igual el jaguar s-type en realidad es cuestion de gustos a mi me encanta el rover 75 tengo uno 2003 y lo he disfrutado mucho aunque las refacciones aqui en mexico son algo caras

  • i like both cars, the jaguar a bit more... but the jag is just to expensive

  • the rover 75 is a fantastic car deffinetly the later one i love ours its great and yes the jag is faster but i think the rover is nicer looking inside and out and comfyier

  • Do all road testers have the same script writer?

  • cool

  • I was rather keen on the MG version of the Rover 75.

  • rover is bad car. jag is great

  • @pakiboy103 Rover 75 is not a bad car at all!

  • @pakiboy103 No, I agree with tgr, rover 75 wasn't a terrible car, but I can also see where you are coming from, the Jaguar S-Type is a good car.

  • Surely the pricing of the S type and the Rover means that they can never be directly compared? The S type will be a better car (debatably) but the 75 is definitely more of a rival to the X type, even though it was released 2 years later. Sit in a 75 then an X type and let us know which one feels like the nicer car...

  • If you cant afford a Jag, just accept it. Don't go and buy a cheap immitation by a company who went under

  • @wealllovederbycounty You don't know shit about cars. You're probably angry 'cause you own a fiesta.

  • @NutsandGuts i probably know more about cars than the next man. And im 16 therefore i do not own a car. However, my parents' car is a 2006 Jag S-type. In the limited edition "XS" form. So youre wrong.

  • both crap just get yourself a proton

  • init all support dem rams drivin arr rovers to teh game bruv

  • haaha yeah man (Y)

  • all rovers/mg's are shite

  • @djrowley1 Sorry to disappoint, but they were'nt...I had two Rovers a 214 and a 75 and to be honest they were fantastic cars....reliable, comfortable...all cars can have problems no matter who makes them.....and i worked in the motor trade.

  • Well I've heard of tim harvey but who's the bint?

  • I have had a top of the range rover 75 2000 and now have a jaguar s type 2001 both very good cars never had any truble with eather love the smooth drive and quick response

  • I like the styling of the Rover 75 - too bad they were never brought to the US as BMW had intended. The Jag S-Type didn't sell well because it looked too much like a Ford and not enough like a Jaguar. The styling of the 75 is more original and crisp. I can still buy a new Rover 75 but now I have to go to China to do it and buy a Roewe 550.

  • evidentally you know fuck all about cars. How the fuck does the Jag look like a ford?! its a retro jag design, based upon the original S-type. The rover is a poor mans S-type

  • Obviously you don't get it... the reason the baby Jag didn't sell well in the USA was because it looked too much like a Ford (albeit a model not sold Stateside) and not enough like the grand old S-types of the 1960s. You don't have to be an asshole like yourself to understand this simple concept. Go blow yourself.

  • Like the Americans know anything about cars. Thats probably the reason why it didnt sell well!! I'd be interested as to which ford model this actually looks like, because the curves of the car and the front end is definetly like the 60's Jag. Just google it. Clearly, you're the asshole.

  • I am well aware of what a 60s Jag looks like and don't pretend you know anything about be, you dumb prick. I'm betting if you ask any owner of a 1960s Jag what they think of the Forduar and I'm sure they'll laugh - the styling of the modern car is trying too hard to look like its ancestor and its Ford roots are all too plain to see. Let me see you give an intelligent, well-thought answer... I won't hold my breath!

  • Vice versa, then. And i wouldnt be so confident on that bet because any 60's Jag owner will have the intelligence to appreciate such a beautiful car, with design cues of the original, being modernised. It's similar in some aspects, but a whole new car in the majority. Hence everyone stating it as being a "Retro" car. Of course it's changed; it's had to. If nothing else, than for the safety.

  • The XF and 2010 XJ are "Forduar", as you put it. Why do you think car critics are saying the "XF" brings a replacment of the S-type, fit for the "21st century"? 21st century being the operative words there, surely an implication that the S-type was too 20th century. Correct me if i'm wrong, but, is 1960 not part of the 20th century? I rest my case.

Oh, and dont point out that the S-type was made in the late 90's which is 20th century, because they gave it a face lift in the 21st.

  • @RoadCone411 You must drive a Honda?

  • My S Type is a wonderful car - love it to bits

  • Having owned two S Types I can inform you that the 1999 S type was never faulty. It returned 34mpg, handled well & not heavy & achieved 152mph on a private test road. My current S Type is better inside, outside & does more to the gallon. Outdated in your opinion, but when Jaguar have produced radical new designs (recent new XJ) they get slated. No win situation for them with people like you about. What do you drive?

  • @DingleZilla Nice one bud, your S type videos are excellent

  • you're absolutely right

  • As far as looks is concerned I prefer Rover but in dark colors

  • What?

  • Yes, Rover and Quality in the same sentence, wtf.

  • Well - this is coming from the Volvo fan who seems to forget the rather weak cars Volvo have turned out over the years suched as the 440/460/480 and the original S40s. The Rove is a quality car. It did consistantly well in all reliability tests, won numerous design and engineering awards. What have volvo done in the last 30 years other than raid the Renault/Ford parts bin?

  • What Volvo started with the 140 series in 1966 followed by 240 in 75 740 in 84 940 i n 91 and even 850 in 92 is Some of the most reliable and failproof cars that has ever been built.

Now all they produce is rubbish. Thansk to ford.

And btw, the dutchmade "Volvos" aint real volvos. They started out as various DAF designs.

reliability well. Swedens 3rd nmost commion car is the 25-17yo Volvo 740 I think that says it

Btw Rover 75 of the last models is a very nice sight to behold.

  • Well in that case - I'd argue that the 'BL' Rovers and Rovers from then on aren't real Rovers either. And When Rover was an independent company it was world renowned for its high quality workmanship (superior that of its German rivals). Anyway - since about 1989 when the Rover 200mk2 has come out - Rover badge cars have been well engineered and well screwed together cars. Not world leading but certainly above the likes of Ford/Vauxhall.

  • what? the modern day fords are superb cars!

  • Yeah nothing beats Quentin, Tiff and Jeremy.

  • Not surprising that these two aren't on the telly these days! What a useless review on the 75.
